I also work in the repair business and what you're saying is 100% true! There are so many high risk jobs out there that just simply aren't worth it. Especially when the customer is a pain in the ass on top of it. Usually telling them we charge $60/hr with a high risk of cracking a screen, etc they will back off, but we've all been there I'm sure. I always get in the habit of testing the desktop/laptop/tablet/whatever as soon as it comes in with the customer, because in some cases they will act as if we broke it when in reality it was that way when it was brought in lol.
Hello Sorin I'm watching your videos nearly every day I mean every day I love electronics and I think your channels is one of the best out there some of the videos I already seen a few time is very relaxing your creativity and knowledge is incredible. Unfortunately I picked a different profession when I went to college but thank to you I'm able to learn more about electronics and trouble shooting. Thank you very much for your time to try help as beginers to learn some electronic skills. Have a nice day.
Sorin I addicted to your channel , when i see your videos I feel I'm in my bed room with my tools and repair and develops, unfortunately for money I have to work 4000Km far from my home and my advice: use a pair of THICK wire for your power supply then we can be relax when you are charging the batteries directly with 3A and 4.5V ;) (then we can see the correct voltage on the camera)
Mr.Sorin, i used to change the processor for this model in particular as an upgrade and i used to have the same issue of slow speed, but after making a bios update everything will get back to normal, so you can easily browse to Dell website and download the bios file from there and install it with the charger plugged in. I hope this could benefit you as i am a student of you. best wishes
...not a good day for work, today eh? so much time for so few repairs! Careful not to get fired!!! HEHE! Of course I'm joking Sorin... I'm working by myself ad keep trying, and trying to repair an ASUS LAPTOP 5521... I repaired it successfully, following your rules.... but I spent all today (and sure also tomorrow morning) just to close it... because it's going in pieces!!! Plastic is literally going brittle and dunno why... I'm LUCKY that I know your HOT GLUE THING which is really helping me alot! THANKS SORIN!
i never realized that you could swap in a newer generation CPU on an older motherboard and it will work. I would have thought that with the motherboard being older, it wouldn't be capable to accept a newer production Processor! Great video.
Hello Sorin, Could you show us how to use an oscillosope and review the computer based one that you showed on a previous video. You have made me a better person
Thank you MR Sorin , l like your videos ,and I learned a lot of thinks in your channel , just a note : yes it’s update form i3 to i5 but 2 cpu’s is the same generation (first generation) not 3rd and 4th . 😊😊
Hey Sorin, the processor you replace is a fist generation processor i5 460M. Normally there are 4 digits in the processor name and the 1st digit is the generation but Intel omitted the first digit in the first generation core processors :)
About the dell laptop i would've never suspect a cpu issue if it's not dead short that's an interesting case to learn from. What is annoying is when the laptop works good before putting it back together then gives you BSOD just right after you finish the assembly lol
Mr. Sorin does it again on the Dell laptop: _"Magiiiiic!"_ ....So, I heard that every customer gets a free CPU upgrade at your shop. When can I come by to fix my laptop? ☺
I was kind of surprised you did not remove the USB port as it was obviously causing internal shorts, which would have fried the M92T36 IC. Which is probably why it would not power on. This video however was posted over 4 years ago, so this job is long gone and I'm sure now that you've worked on many more of them since. So you most likely know this. Just thought I would mention this.
Kind of spooky, at 14:19 second hand comes in, and 14:25 third hand comes in and put the phone away and i was thinking, wow three hands, wait a minute.. :)
First device that you tried to repair. Did you think that because of the magled pins the motherboard senses a short between lets say +5V and a data and therefore its not passing all the tests to power up? Im asking you this because tablets and phones have this problem. Once the charging port is shorted it keeps restarting or sometimes it doesnt even start but after removing the charging port with a charged up battery it powers normaly. I might be wrong about that device but i came across this problem countless times now so it might be related. I also run a repair shop in Romania. In the future i think you should try to remove the charging port if you cant get any life out of it and check afterwards.
I always watche your video everyday, and i got a lot of idea about repair from it. But I have a question for you master. See I have acer aspire here, it does power on but after bios the laptop went blank screen but the cpu fan keeps spinning though. What seems to be the problem here this is my first time to encounter this kind of error.
sorin i have a question its a serious question and please answer what about cpu if its on board can we reflow it ? like in this case you change the cpu what about cpu on board can we reflow it and its working again temporary ? or not ??
@@electronicsrepairschool I know you are not a big football fan...but you'r electronics repair star...being Besiktas fan not about football...It's about being master that what you do best...so Come to Besiktas :)
Old video but I can attest to these modern consoles being money pits. They all fail in about 4 different ways, sometimes a combo of the 4 (or all 4). Not talking about HDD or the like but Mobo issues. Real issues. If you come across a console that has NONE of the 4 faults upon quick inspection, run. Don't waste your time. For every one unit you save you'll lose money on ten. You'll have to find parts (that are proprietary) so the premiums on them are crazy. Then you have to install without knowing if that was even the main reason the console stopped working. It's a gamble outside of about 4 faults.
That's why there are two dies on the chip. All future Intel processors have GPU on the same silicon where CPU is kept. Ofc some chips have "bonus" die which is eDRAM for more powerful Iris Pro in the CPU. So this shouldn't be mistaken.
Hi. Your channel is very informative. Thanks. Gave me confidence to fix a Geiger Muller tube at work. Do you have one for diagnosing and fixing a bridge camera,, specifically the Panasonic fz200?
I'm to old to get involved in language skills it seems to be a hi-temperature topic today , my question is about the power supply I'm waiting for a 30v 5a like yours , do you have any tips to improve it ,thanks for your time have a nice day you are doing a great job
Fix the mouse problem next one 😂 Nice processor swap. I always reinstall the software. It will conflict when you don’t. And sell a new ssd drive to, and it is a up to date upgrade. I thank you for the nice work and see you next time.
Sorin nice video ! You just upgrade the cpu of this "dead" Dell and it looks working fine !!! Now can you do an oscilloscope video for beginners ? Also I am looking buying a pc based oscilloscope, but I am bit confused about what specifications should I look , when buying from ebay and Ali express ... Can you suggest one for buying around 100€ ?
Hi, first of all I want to tell you that your videos are great. But I need to know something about an iphone 6 where i removed the c5202-rf capacitor, now the phone started and i was wondering if it's necessary to replace that capacitor or not, because i haven't the tools to do this
i have big problem with dim screen , back light not work and i changed fuse and screen still not backlight , hope u answer me if there is another problem with my laptop Sony Vaio model SVE151D11M
That is an i3/i5 first gen not 3rd/4th gen ( minor slip, no problem). I think Dell laptops have a specified processor list. For some models an i5 has a voltage to high...
36:30 - I have one of these, customer surrendered to me as had no picture, no turn on and only 0.60Ma on charge. replace with brand new charged battery, still 0.60Ma on charge, dead board? LCD power should be 24v but is only 4.5v. All cables good, screen is good (tested on working tablet), scrap it?
In my country (Costa Rica) buying the microscope locally could increase costs by 300%, I had to import it and pay as much as half the price of the microscope

many thanks, sir .
They don't make them like they used to! Pretty much impossible to replace a CPU easily these days!

Both were first gen
Many thanks sorin
Tronixfix has quite some videos on nintendo switch repair. But he does have the chips required in stock to replace. :) that guy makes it look easy.
It was very useful and interesting video. Thnx
Place something on the table to prevent scratching of the screen.

If the processor fits in do you think board will handle the faster processor ? Thank you
You are great. Thanks from Bulgaria
i like all your video thank you 😊
How you are showing measurement details on screen like volts, amps.. Etc. What are the devices being used.
You are great please dont stop your records😍😘

But he checked that no pins are shorted
1:00:30 is it good idea to heat up chipset? which case can we do use this method ?

I don't understand why you didn't check the other ram slot? You can have a bad slot, you have to check both.
sorin i have a question its a serious question and please answer what about cpu if its on board can we reflow it ? like in this case you change the cpu what about cpu on board can we reflow it and its working again temporary ? or not ??
Thank you for your effort , you are professional its obvious. 👍 İ learned so much. Have a nice day.
BUT MR SORIN, THERE WAS A CHANCE THAT THE DC SOCKET WAS SHORTED
For this you would have more than 300mA without even pressing power button.
Come to Besiktas Sorin...

i'd use an oscilloscope to check dc levels
Hell mr Sorin.Where are you from?
I5 M460 is a first generation of I5 processors not a 4th generation one.
Thank you, my mistake

You should have removed the switch charging port before trying to boot it, you probably had a short in the port causing it not to boot.
