Brilliant remastered concert
I hated this song back then because they were neither AC/DC nor Van Halen nor Iron Maiden. I was a small minded fool!
Now you're just a fool?
And I loved punk/new wave, and therefore foolishly overlooked bands like AC/DC. Live and learn. I was at this concert, and the B-52's were there best group outside of The Talking Heads that day and night (IMO).
No, you weren't. I was a senior in high school when this was recorded. I remember all too well how terrible this is. It hasn't changed one bit.
Want to listen to a structured, often formulaic, song or enter into a creative fantasy world?
My favorite band is Priest, love The 52s.
One of the most original American bands of all time. Loved them in middle school ‘83. Still gives me goose bumps. 💣 B-52s 🎉
What's still amazing is that in 2024 I can put on Wild Planet and the whole mood in the room changes to one of happiness and fun.
My introduction to the awesome B52's when I was ten/eleven years old.
I LOVE this crazy song.🦞🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️
Monstrous vocal parts from the ladies and Fred. Everyone without exception dances to Rock Lobster, it’s almost a religion.
I remember when this hit the airwaves in 79 ... you couldn't help but stop and do a double take. Then ask yourself "wtf did i just hear?"
It was like music from another planet. So unlike everything b4 it, so unique. Wasn't everyone's cup o tea initially, but it absolutely got your attention.
Brillaint write up - Great
This performance set the mood for the entire weekend. Lots of fun even though it was 114 degrees during the day. Dangerously hot. Don't know how the performers could stand it. Place went wild for this set. then came The Talking Heads and the Police. 21 years old and still remember so much about that weekend.
They were so innovative. The songs were fun, but no one else sounded like the B-52s! What a great band, even after all this time. My wife and I saw them in Vegas last year. They sounded great. It was a very short set. But fantastic. They still sound amazing.
nice write up - I am sure they might read these one day
Cruising the boulevard with my friends, blasting this at the stoplight. People would be looking like What the Hell is THAT! Us laughing. Good times.
I remember all the kids hitting the floor at the school's disco listening to this song....down....down...down....
Right there
Was a Rock Lobster for 3 days straight....
Ricky always played with such intensity….. rip
We had the best dance party music in the early 80s.
I went to see them at the Hollywood Palladium 1981-2 round there! Everyone was dancing! Great show!

I think we had the best music back then, the live music scene was excellent I used to go out nearly every night of the week and see live music in one pub or club somewhere reasonably local. There was an environment where musicians, groups could perfect their performance create their unique styles etc, for me it seemed like a 60’s part 2, unfortunately now most pubs & clubs are shut down, youth of today( our kids) will never have that, so fucking sad!. ✌🏽
@@user-xh8ii2hj6rYou just reminded me. I saw them live for free at lunch around 1978 while at UC Berkeley. Same for the Talking Heads. Both bands were still building an audience at that time.
@@peterbland7227 Cool...I remember going to USC for a free Talking Heads Concert around 1978.... yup ✌️
@@Kiyarose3999 I used to hang out on the Sunset Strip at Gazzaris and the Troubadour and the Whiskey late 70s into the 80s...it was a blast
Love the B-52s so much! Miss Ricky Wilson RIP.
First song i heard from the B-52s, hooked ever since.
I was a teenage metal head, but I always loved this song.
I’m into Rock but B-52’s are out there which is where I like to be! ✊🏽🌎🌻
In your Plymouth Satellite no doubt!
@@user-xh8ii2hj6r ‘’Plymouth Satellite’’ ?
@@Kiyarose3999 Plymouth Satellite is a B-52s song...or it's in their lyrics ✌️
Look at all the different styles & types of music we've had access to throughout the years till today in April 2024 ......
and the B-52s from 42 years ago ..... still sound brilliantly radical, in the most glorious way !!
/// Peace to all friends ///
A great comment - well said
42 years ago wow where did it all go
all our 80's happiness !!!!
All the synth and drum machines, music in the 80s for the most part really sucked.
There goes a narwhal
Wha-wha-wha-wha
Man, they're like fans at a live gig absolutely getting into the moment - except they are the moment. Great band.
wow, what a professional level performance... amazing talent...
Our band covered several B52's songs. This one always brought the house down.
I bet there's never been a fight at a B-52s concert
That's funny. I wonder why that would be, lol.
I've seen a sissy boy slap party or two. It happens, but the bouncers told us no nudity was allowed so there's that.
Shining happy people. I was there. It was night time but still a buck ten in the shade.
Absolutely PERFECT!!! WOW !
I was there right down in front of them they rock
*lobster
😂...they rock
*lobster....
This is one of the greatest songs of the 20th century. I'm pushing 60yo, couldn't stand this kind of music in my teens. The punk rockers stood out in those days.
One day in 10th grade geometry class (held in a portable at one end of the parking lot- a guy smashed into it when the throttle stuck in his Olds Cutlass! We could hear it when he floored it and kept on coming. The students on the opposite side of the classroom finally turned around to look out the window. I remember at least one kid leap like superman trying to avoid getting hit. The portable was struck while he was in mid air. No one was even scratched. After a moment or two our teacher says "guys our portable was just struck by a car" and the kids "no duh, really?" You had to be there....anyway, a couple guys were discussing which live show they would go see, the Kinks or
the B-52's. Some of us would swap vinyl records with each other occasionally, things were WAY different. (My '80/'81 sophomore year), no mtv, no internet, no mobile phones...
....my friends went to see the Rolling Stones (steel wheels tour?) in '82 and jokingly called them the Rolling Bones back then! They were a 15yo band already!
Take care people. Much love. GW
Oh yeah? Well I was right down behind them. CHECK MATE.
Fantastic thanks for sharing 😢
Glad you enjoyed it
Energetic fun.
Guitarist of Great...
Nice to see hands on keys. #Love ❤the B-52s

Just what a band..fab
It was awesome to finally see disco come to an end.
Their 1978(?) Saturday Night Live performance was EPIC!
...this band had balls.
Totally agree - well said
The B-52s at the Hollywood Palladium....it was awesome! 1981.....

ALL HAIL THE B52s! 🤘🏽💜🤘🏽
Thanks
B52's CLASSIC!!! M.O'B
we need more cowbells~!
Now I feel even luckier to have been in college at Lock Haven State College (which looked a lot like "Faber College") during the late 70's punk explosion and early 80's music scene that included so many innovative and just plain fun bands like the B52's. Living in a frat house when Animal House came out.
Even john lennon liked this song !
Excellent ❤ I was There 😊✅
All I have to say is O2 be there. We have a legacy trust and access
Grandes The B-52's
I hear this song and think of Jeff Hanneman speaking on it in an interview once LOL
love the goofy dancing
Baseline at 3:21 - awesome
2:40! Yes i well im laughing. Joy❤
Fred Schneider looks like he robbed Danny Elfman's wardrobe!
Cindy Wilson in her pantyhose. What a beauty.
They look high as the dickens, and yet they managed to pull it off.
Does it get any better than that?
YOU CAN KEEP THAT!
Ricky has literally been underground longer than he was alive 😢
Mate I think it was a cremation.
Esta canción y 'Whip it' de Devo, lo más bizarro de su época
A band of musician performers jamming together. It's sad that it seems to be a dying artform.
Every time I hear this I think of Peter Griffin now 😅
Mrs.ferwkwenstein voice trill hair freaky streaks
More cowbell.
Amazing video, thank you a lot for sharing.
Why does this song make me think of ‘The Flintstones’ ?
Because of the hair styles of the two ladies and the whole 50s style?
🪨🦞
I laughed til I almost pissed myself at the confusion in people because of this silly song when it was new.
Awesome... so much energy, they make an old man tired watching!
I like Dead Horse's version better😊
This is just as horrific as I remember. I never forgave the B-52s for this song until they put out Love Shack. And I thank them for that. 🇺🇲✌️🇺🇲
Make sure you get your opinion in there, and for sure stamp it with American flags and a victory sign, so that you can virtue signal your masculinity, patriotism, and sheer force. Because of course in this age, you shouldn't be able to comment on music, movies, food, holy fuck, ANYTHING, without also showing everyone exactly where You stand.
@michaelpukish748
I see why you're called pukish. You make people want to puke. That's a peace sign, Michelle. I see plenty of comments like mine, so it's a consensus that this song, and song is pretty far-fetched, pretty much sucks. I hope you have plenty of tissue to wipe up those tears.
Well, this has been an educational experience and was fun and all, but I'm gonna have to end this therapy session for you. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and try to drink plenty of fluids. You'll get dehydrated quickly from the state that you're in.
🇺🇲✌️🇺🇲
Yoko disciples.
Resist Apartheid
yawn.................
Doe anybody else think Fred was the weak link in this band?
Yeah.
No
No
no
Hell no
singlehandedly, THE stupidest song, band and show all 3 in one !
... Said Mr Coors !! 😂😂😂
And yet John Lennon was inspired to restart his musical career, according to Yoko. One heck of a “stupidest” song.
