I love how you two are able to find loving homes for the dogs and help them start a new life. So sweet. Dear Joey, I have a crazy mix pup but trained her to bring the ball back by having two balls. After they catch it show the second ball. Maybe it will help and maybe not 😂
The shelters prefer that the pregnant momma dogs be fostered. Because the shelters can be very stress. Delivering puppies are already stressful on momma. They need a quiet place to deliver her babies. So most shelters foster for this reason.
I only have experience with poodles and oodles- but it seems a lot easier to get them to fetch, they have retriever genes and if they don’t bring the ball closer they either don’t get it or I make them drop it, so they learn to retrieve. I never let them have the ball if I ask for it and they don’t give it to me- that’s the game, they have to give it to me!!
