Hi,
The most important thing of this song are the lines "senguruthi seiyone"
Which translates to ancestors of the ancestors.. which traces back to Lord Muruga..
He is been used Seiyone to refer to him as ancestors since Tamils have practice of praying to their ancestors.
There are many ancestry ladders in Tamil like grandma, great-grandma, great-great-granma etc.,
one step below the topmost ladder are called "seiyone" in Tamil
Topmost or first ancestry are called Paran(parambarai: clan) Paran is the top most in the ancestry ladder who is almighty "Lord Sivan"
Murugan is next to him as he is son of Shiva, hence Seiyone(since it's 2nd in the ancestry ladder)
This song is for the warlord Murugan.
Murugan is considered as greatest, powerful warrior who got his Astram(weapon) from his mom!
So, there are many koothu, here they perform Kuravai koothi & a type of dance where men & women dance together... the tempo increases slowly (also mentioned in the book)
So the song meaning goes like this..
Praising lord Muruga and then asking the Lord Muruga about the confusions happening.. what's so going to happen next? And to save their clan!
And the reply being "Sankari, the goddess is asking for blood of a king or king's sons, so a death in the king's family is inevitable .. kaavu kekuthuu solranga due to koduramana pagaiyal.. athaan kottapagai solranga!
The lyricist who wrote the song Mr. Ilango Krishnan is a Tamil fanatic and he is well-learned person who has dedicated his life for Tamizh research.
So he has penned this song and ponni nadhi also.. tremendous amount of small-research & details have gone into making all this.
