Ponniyin Selvan: 1 is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language epic period action film directed by Mani Ratnam, who co-wrote it with Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan. Produced by Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, it is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. The film stars an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. @@manideeptummalapalli5679 Prabhu Sir had planned to eat something at 4:30 am in the morning and was offering Jayaram the same thing (not sure what dish it was). Since it was 4:30am, Jayaram did not wish to eat anything. However, Jayaram told Prabhu Sir that there will be a break after 2 hours, which never happened due to continuous shooting. After sometime, Prabhu Sir started asking Mani Sir directly that he was hungry, since he hadnt had anything from morning. Finally at 2pm, Jayaram heard Prabhu SIr's voice in the backround about "hitting" Jayaram with the same stick (which Jayaram's character was carrying in the movie), since he couldnt have his food on time.

Jayaram did his schooling in Kerala. During his college days, he joined the reputed mimicry troupe Kalabhavan. Soon he made his Malayalam cinema debut with Padmarajan, considered one of the best of Malayalam cinema. From the 80s till today, Jayaram has been a strong presence in Malayalam cinema and stage shows, with his comedy films as well as mimicry talents. He has been strongly associated with many great actors and directors of Malayalam cinema. Mammootty considers Jayaram as his younger brother. He has strong working relationship with great Malayalam directors like Sibi Malayil, Kamal, Rafi Mecartin, Sathyan Anthikkad, etc.
His wife is 80s Malayalam actress Parvathy. His son Kalidas Jayaram won state and national award for acting in Malayalam films.
His only relationship with Tamil cinema is through Kamal Haasan, who he worked with in the Malayalam movie Chanakyan, and since then he's been close with Kamal's family.
