As a side info - Mani and Rahman went to Indonesia as part of their research of the percussion and strings in times of the story era and used those instruments throughout PS. Rahman uttered this info during the music launch. He used those ancient instruments to give us the feel. Hard work never fails, let us wait and see, how good comes out.

The opening fight reminded Gladiator, the scenes between Vikram and Vikram Prabhu, the sea shore fight in Sri Lanka reminded of Troy, the secne where Karthi was alone in the sea reminded of Life of Pai, the rescue scenes of Oomai Rani reminded of The Lord of the Rings. the fight sequence of Karthi at the Fort reminded of The Scirpion King. Apart from these things the characterization is well handled. The cinematography and the lighting is enjoyable. The costumes and the use of jewellery takes the audience to the time. Sure there will be orders pouring into many jewellery shops atleast in Tamilnadu. All the characters are well portrayed by the seasoned artists of our film industry. The background music and the songs are delivered well by A R Rahman. Well choreographed dances by Brindha. Lovely lines by the lyricists. Thank you Mr. Mani Ratnam- PONNIYIN SELVAN- Part-1.
