Disclaimer: I was asked by a group called "Protectors of Paradise" (that was backed by a U.S Army Military organization) to not entice people to do the 10th hiking trail on this video. I was also gonna be forwarded to other Hawaii departments. That's why the 10th hike is trimmed out. I have been there many times growing up and didn't know it was a sacred area until I posted this video. I have never seen anyone guarding the area either. This place can be admired from afar. Thank you! Mahalo.
Wow! Does freedom of speech really exist anymore?? Hey, you're respectful for taking down the 10th hike. People also post a lot of Stairway to Heaven videos despite this being illegal. Happy that you're not letting negativity bring you down! Haters gonna hate! Keep up the great work!
I've been following you since the Misconceptions video. Love your stuff. Just wondering, why is there other videos on TH-cam of the Makua Cave and its still on? And if it's a sacred area, is it being guarded around the clock?
Sorry that they are harassing you by using the US Army! You must genuinely feel threatened to take down your content. You're a Native Hawaiian, and the fact that you don't know that the Makua Cave is sacred is NOT your fault. It sounds like lacking cultural education from their side. My uncle told me that 10-15 years ago, homeless people would come and pee inside the cave! How sacred can it be? Shouldn't everyone else who is posting about the Makua Cave take down their posts too? Why are they only harassing you? So unfair! I respect your decision, and keep up the great work! :)
I don't mind an area that is off limits. I will respect that. But there are no barricades, no one guarding it, and I didn't learn about it in school growing up in Hawaii. In other cultures, when something is sacred, it's guarded around the clock. So that's why I was a little confused. Thanks for your support Elijah!
I’m here in O’ahu and grateful that you made this video. We are a military family new to the area and looking forward to starting with easy hikes with beautiful views.
One of my most favorite things to do while I lived in Hawaii from 1983 to 1987 was hike. I did a lot of those trails but I also did some very unknown trails even camped up on a lot of the ridges. My Hawaiian friends would tell me to be careful as to some of the illegal growing up in the woods above Honolulu I am glad to see the highway to heaven may be opening up again in the near future. That was one of my favorites I had completed it 4 times in 4 years back when it was legal
Oh wow! I would have loved to see videos of the hikes here on the island back in the 80s! I just saw the movie North Shore again. I know that a lot of the ridges and trails connect but it must have been more awesome back then. The Stairway to Heaven looks like it may be opening up within a year. Thanks for sharing your stories. I can only imagine. Mahalo!:)

@@SeanKaleponi my wife lived in Hawaii for a short period. She has heard of some of these places. I’m always going to lean towards trails with waterfalls.
I'm surprised you didn't include the Tantalus trail. But it can be treacherous. Once, my friends and I took that trail and wound up coming out at Paradise Park, and had to take the bus back up Tantalus to get to our cars. Another time, my friend walked into a spider web across the trail, and backed up so quickly, he almost threw me off the side of the trail into the valley. We also heard that a lot of people get lost on that trail. So, on the other hand, it might be a good idea not to include it.😉

Parts of the island, where tourists stay vs. where locals live, where people play. What range of budgets, what’s crucial to remember (rent a car and keep it empty for safety, or rideshare, or...). Oh been to Ka'ena Point and had a hike right near by but had to take it off. Please watch my new video today that talks about it. Aloha!:) glad you did the other hikes!

@@SeanKaleponi THANKS! AND, I changed the spelling in my comment of "WHERE" to "WEAR" a hat! lol. (To add to your enjoyment, I'll admit I've been serving as an English teacher in SE ASIA for the past 9 years!)
Yes, there's many great hiking trails here. Some of them are illegal since it's dangerous or it's on government owned property. But there's many great ones here too!
@@SeanKaleponi The "stairway to heaven" would be high on my list if it weren't illegal. It is a big island and I am sure I will find many other great hikes when I eventually will go (like the cave one on your thumbnail). Keep those great Hawaii vids coming!!
Let me know if anyone you know see menehunes. I've heard Aiea Loop Trail, people claim to see 'um. Somebody said Old Waimalu Valley (Newtown Town Houses) this guy says he see 'um in his Mango Tree. But I wonder if it's Owl's. My Grandpa used to live there and I got to see a Shadow person with Red Eyes.
@@SeanKaleponi IDK, might be like Bigfoot. They can see infrared light. I know this guy on TH-cam. If you want to see Bigfoot, ride a Horse. The Horse will sense Danger and will look in the direction of a possible Bigfoot sighting. But where's there Bigfoot, you also have Cougars and Bears. Oahu has Cougars and Bears. But State of Hawaii don't want to start a panic. You know that there's Black Widow, Poison Dart Frog, Russian Boars ( but they're mix breeding with our Boars, Iguana, Night Anole (channel 2 News) the State of Hawaii knew this!!! Since there's No Bigfoot here, only a close relative (Mahu) this is the stuff, I look for. Did you know that there's Barn Owl and Swift's, too?
Sorry Sam, I had to take out #10 because I was getting pressure from the State. A scared illegal trail. Please watch the 5 things not to do in Hawaii video, I explain it there🤙
@@SeanKaleponi have fun brother... I don't think I can do it again. It's was beautiful, but going down was extremely difficult for me. Now I am too old for that xhit.. 😆.
@ 1:06 nice try, but don't those signs say not to enter? In the old days the signs used to say "KAPU" which maybe had a more spiritual prohibition. It's hard to criticize tourists doing dumb things and winding up dead or injured, and now a local boy doing the same. Last month a local girl fell off the mountain in Waianae so even locals are not immune. People have to earn a living on TH-cam, but not by endangering others. To your credit, you did put a disclaimer @ 2:07. Still, I think more information should be provided about the risks involved for inexperienced tourists. That's why they go swimming in mountain pools in the rain and have no idea of what's coming down the valley.
In the 9th hike, at the end, I did say how going more up is a little scary and I think that's the area where the girl in Waianae just recently passed away. I actually make videos because I didn't see any locals doing it on TH-cam. I'm also honest and tell others I don't do any hikes that seem scary to me. But I won't tell others to not hike. Olomana and Kaau Crater Hike look crazy! But if they hike it, I'm not gonna tell them to stop. I don't remember back in the old days when I was a kid that any hikes were prohibited. I remember the locals having a beer on hikes. Whether they hike, surf, rapel, it can be dangerous. I hope other locals start making TH-cam videos about safety too. Haven't seen a disclaimer yet on other Hawaii Hiking videos although I'm sure there maybe some out there.
Bro why is there a video about illegal hikes like this is useless information why would someone want to come to Hawaii and commit a crime. Doesn’t TH-cam policy have something about encouraging crimes wtf
Bro.. you make it sound like I kidnapped someone on TH-cam or I murdered someone. Relax!! Haven't done vids like this in years. Did you see my other hiking vids? Have you ever jaywalked before?

Aloha Min C! I don't think it's sacred because no one ever guards it. And so much ppl go there every day👍🤙
@SeanKaleponi Thanks. I will include in the next trip. I saw a TH-cam clip and heard that. Thanks.
Talofa uso. Can you give me your top 3 hikes? I'm gonna be in oahu in July. I appreciate it uce. 💯
Aloha brother! My top 3, Wiliwilinui, Lanikai, and Crouching Lion. Hope this helps when you come in July:) Take care.
@@SeanKaleponi I appreciate it uso, I will check all 3; much alofa . stay safe and god bless. Tofa. Soifua 🙏
Love your video! Do I need to bring mosquitoe repellent on the trails?
Glad you enjoyed the video!! And yes, brining mosquito repellent is always a good idea on these trails! Aloha!:)
There seem to be many amazing hiking trails in Hawaii - I am just wondering why so many of them are "illegal"
There's a back way up to stairway to heaven that's legal and an epic hike
@@mikefreeman9251 I may have seen a video of it - it looks way more dangerous than the "illegal" stairs (but much more fun)
Is Hamama still guarded everyday by the cop at the entrance?
Yes, everday now. They got really strict there.
Are all these free to do ??
Yes they are Seth! Aloha🤙
How is weather in may?
Aloha Mandar, it's almost Summer in May so I would say pretty good👍
may i ask why are some trails illegal but there are routes for it inside…?
Aloha Tinkywinky! I believe, it's juts a way so the State won't hold themselves accountable if there is an accodent on certain hikes
Can you find seclusion on some trails in Oahu
I know Oahu is inundated with residents and other tourists
I don't think so anymore. Because all the trails are known now but Wiliwilinui never seems crowded when I go and it's beautiful 👍🤙
Can you take me back and do St Louis Heights ridge, plz?
Aloha Bang! I still haven't done St. Louis Heights Ridge but I will now. Mahalo 🤙👍💯
I would love to see Menehunes. I think we gotta use camera traps like how they do in Africa to spot majestic creatures!🤙👍
風景.........美麗的..........
Wish There was a translate🤙
Officer - my apologies ... Sean Kaleponi said it was OK.
Haha.. then I'll refer to the cop that I didn't say that in the video. Lol!
lots of illegal hikes suggested, AT app says keep out. Just checked them out, boo! Better i do my own research, but thanks for suggesting!
Hmm?
Is there any trail that's legal?
The ones I didn't mention that were illegal.
What about haiku stairs?
Sadly.. their taking it down

Mahalo friend🤙🌈👍
No PaiN No GaiN bRah!
I agree Flee! More pain, more gain🤙
Am I the only one noticing the creepy face staring at Sean??? 4:44
What creepy face? I tried watching it👍
@@SeanKaleponi lol I was just joking, there was no creepy face!
Fresh of breath air??
Haha yup!:)
Did you miss #10?
Sorry Sam, I had to take out #10 because I was getting pressure from the State. A scared illegal trail. Please watch the 5 things not to do in Hawaii video, I explain it there🤙
if some of those hikes are illegal, why not mention the most beautiful illegal hike in the world? Stairway 2 Heaven.
I want to go to the Stairway one last time before they supposedly tear it down.
@@SeanKaleponi have fun brother... I don't think I can do it again. It's was beautiful, but going down was extremely difficult for me. Now I am too old for that xhit.. 😆.
pink pill box is NOT an relatively easy hike. It is very steep
I see kids and heavy set ppl do the Pink Pillbox hike so that's why I say it
@ 1:06 nice try, but don't those signs say not to enter?
So hiking is basically illegal....
It's illegal if I said its illegal but its legal if I didn't say it was illegal.
These places are getting crowded now since they are being exploited on the internet.
Which places?
Stop showing this satanic symbols 😂
Haha David, just throwing up the "shaka' sign.🤙
Bro stop showing tourists hikes dude keep them in the tourist areas
This video is so old
