I’m from Oahu and currently live in NY. I miss Hawaiii and my favorite comfort foods there. Sure, there’s Hawaiian cuisine here but it don’t match up to Hawaii. Poke, katsu, miso butterfish, Japanese, filipino, Hawaiian, Chinese and Korean cuisine is just bomb!!! U can’t beat the freshness and big portions anywhere. Along with the weather and chill atmosphere. Hawaii cuisine is just bomb!!!! Your video informs me of new or old places to try when I come to visit. Kalihi has great eateries which is one of my favorite areas. Actually, any area of Oahu has ono grinds.

Thanks for all the tips. Just got back from Hawaii. Loved KJ’s Local Grindz. The portions were so big we ate them for lunch and dinner. And the 7-Elevens were awesome. I had a bunch of spam musubis. Wish our 7-elevens in CA had the same food.

First time in Honolulu Hawaii as of 06/02/23 My Husband has tried 2/10 places here in Honolulu Hawaii right now you recommended. My husband absolutely loved the Fresh catch (it's a little spicy but good) and we also tried Kjs fried chicken and he said it was very flavorful. So far your recommendations are very very spot on and honestly you should be a tour guide here! We give your ratings a 10/10! Love love love!

My favorite islands are the big island and, yes, Oahu (Waikiki, the north shore is best ,but surfing out on the Mavericks, ,Ocean Beach here in San Francisco are dangerous, too, Australia, Thailand , South Africa can be tricky, too. I remember, fondly, the Ala Moana and Nick's in Pearl City (and the Monkey Bar - although my mom, sister and I just passed through as we were escorted to our table, the 3rf Floor was another great restaurant on the Nimitz. "The Library "was the bar adjacent, but again, we were young . . . so . . . Lol . . we went to dinner. Our dad (our mom kicked him out when I was about a year old, my sister 2.) was relocated at one point to the office on Oahu.
I am so glad I found your TH-cam. I'm about to go to Hawaii and I always look for where the locals go to eat out when I'm on vacation. Most of the time, its cheap as heck, but its always good. Thank you for doing this video.
Born and raised in Hawaii, after WWII, my father never ate Spam or Ketchup (called Catsup then) again. It was never served at a family dinner, but he didn't care if we had to take a can when we went camping or hunting. I and the kids still have it on hand, especially for Saimin.

Another stressful day, another Sean Kaleponi for relaxation :) so detailed. Wish my staff can pay the level of attention to detail as you do with your food. (oh no, I am talking about my work) That furikake chicken looks great! In the poke nachos, do they make their own nachos? We have tried Loco Moco at Rainbow and we did not like it. We like the ones at Liliha Bakery. I have to try Bob's BBQ next time since you strongly recommend :) Where can I get the best Mochi Donuts besides Liliha Bakery? Back to the grind!

Mahalo. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. My favorite islands are the big island and, yes, Oahu (Waikiki, the north shore is best ,but surfing out on the Mavericks, ,Ocean Beach here in San Francisco are dangerous, too, Australia, Thailand , South Africa can be tricky, too.
I remember, fondly, the Ala Moana and Nick's in Pearl City (and the Monkey Bar - although my mom, sister and I just passed through as we were escorted to our table, the 3rf Floor was another great restaurant on the Nimitz. "The Library "was the bar adjacent, but again, we were young . . . so . . . Lol . . we went to dinner.
Our dad (our mom kicked him out when I was about a year old, my sister 2.) was relocated at one point to the office on Oahu.
So many stories. And I enjoy heating about them. I'm heading to the Big Island soon!:)

Make sure to visit 7Eleven on the island; the food, in general, is better than 7Eleven on the mainland in my opinion.
Born and raised in Hawaii, after WWII, my father never ate Spam or Ketchup (called Catsup then) again. It was never served at a family dinner, but he didn't care if we had to take a can when we went camping or hunting. I and the kids still have it on hand, especially for Saimin.
