I accidentally removed the buff halfway through the fight and I very quickly went from a living dancer to a dead dancer in about five seconds, give or take.
Fun fact: this fight is possible without Hydaelyn’s buff in normal mode… as a NIN. You can survive the first slam with a vitality potion + food buff + shade shift (and maybe feint.) Then, you can regain health with second wind + blood bath + Dream within a Dream + bunshin. You may need to do a non-standard rotation to maximize the number of hits in bloodbath (I.e. don’t use ninjutsus during bloodbath except maybe when Venat moves away.) Venat’s autos only deal like 2k per hit, so if you heal up like above, do decent DPS, and dodge everything, you can actually survive long enough to hit enrage (which is tough to get through but possible with optimal ninjutsu usage and high enough hp). The one thing to keep in mind is she has a spell (aero?) that deals half your hp, so you want to have low hp when she casts that, and use your healing after. This isn’t a theory, I’ve done it :).
I actually kind of love that they made her tuned to one-shot you unless you have the story buffs. Like demons are one thing but honestly I would not expect the power of love and friendship to put me above the Hyperborean Precursor Race that could literally create me as a school project.
They pretty much have to be considering the class spread of the scions and the amount of hits the WoL takes. There is one tank in the scions, Thancred.
