Patty Lyons How to Seam: Set in sleeve is the tutorial I always watch. Using a football to help the shape of the sleeve as you are seaming is very helpful! And putting in locking stitch markers to space it before starting helps, too! I like it because you can always undo it and start over if the stitches don’t look right. You can do it!
My pressed flowers cardigan was my first seamed project. I did it when I wasn’t tired, laid it out on the table with lots of room, watched a video and got started. It’s a short seam. Mine came out really nice and I’m sure yours will too. One thing I did was add 4 Rows to the button band to add ease. The pattern in the round is not near as easy as the pattern done flat. Yours is beautiful. Keep going.
First off, love ALL your colors here. Your pressed flowers cardigan is stunning! Patty Lyons has a great tutorial on seaming. However: probably too late now, but I joined the fronts and backs for my pressed flowers cardi literally yesterday. What I did was, instead of a sloped bind off, I did short row shaping (while continuing the basic mosaic) , then kept the stitches live for a 3-needle bind off. I actually bound off purlwise too, to emulate the garter ridge of the pattern. It looks really lovely. So, if you ever knit a bottom-up cardigan in the future, I highly recommend this technique, especially if you're not a big fan of seaming. Just do a short row turn whenever the bind-off on each row would end to shape, then 3-needle bind-off and you're good to go!
Love the hat! I’m kinda wishing I would have knit the youth size. I didn’t finish so guess we’ll see how I like it. Can’t wait to see the pressed flowers cardigan! It’s so gorgeous!
Yes I think it would be a wonderful staple in my wardrobe… probably under a shirt …speaking of linen quill … wonder if that would work.. I too have lots of linen quill! Yours is lovely! Looks great on you…
Always happy to see a new podcast from you. So come when you can. These shorter ones are nice too. Have you thought of a three-needle bindoff for the shoulders?
A three needle bind off is also a good structural seaming off that is non sewing. If this would make it easier for you perhaps try it. Much easier to take out than mattress stitch.
There are other options to do your seams, crochet them together? 3 needle bind off…. Etc…. And seaming is good too and really not that hard…. Plus it’s easy to redo it til you are happy with it… so be fearless!
I'm 100% behind you on the seaming. I refuse to do seamed garments because I am just awful at it. I tried the mattress stitch on a cowl and it was a complete disaster. I think my remedy will be to maybe knit a bunch of swatches and then try to seam them together to practice. Which I plan to do Someday. Eventually. Possibly...
Stacy get a friend to seam it for you. I love the finished look and feel of seamed edges and would gladly do it for you..but I'm in Australia.. so.. you will get there 🧶🧶
Maybe you should plan a mini mock neck tank to go with your cardigan? That might motivate you to finish it. A lovely cream or maybe even a dark green for contrast?
I do have a mini mock neck that goes with this one lol but I think I just need to sit down and just do it. It's probably going to be one of those "oh that wasn't that bad" moments. haha
Love your traveler hat! The fit worked out because you knitted the toddler size for fingering weight, which is the same cast on for the adult larger worsted weight lol. Silly!
Omgosh Stacy! You can do it!!! I’ve just spent the afternoon tubular binding off (😱😱😱) and now that I’m done, I’m so psyched I kept with it! You can seam it… go go go 😃😂😃👏🏼👏🏼😃🧶 I know you’ll get over the hump and you’ll feel how I feel 🥰😃🧶
Hey Stacey! So excited to see this pop up on my feed ❤
So happy you will podcast more!🤎

You can do this. One step at a time, Stacy Lynn
You can do it Stacy! It will be soooo worth it😍😍

Oh my goodness this is such a great tip! Will for sure use it in the future!

That red color is absolutely perfect on you!! ❤
Thank you! I love it so much!
Great podcast. It is good that you knit the youth size - the hat comes out super big. The adult small is giant and I went down a needle size.
Your mini mock neck tank looks so cute on you!
Yay! Looks so good. Mine is blocking now ❤
Love the hat and tank! I am cheering you on for the seaming.

I've never constructed a cardigan from the bottom up so I'm just following the pattern.

Love your mock neck tank-the color is perfect for you. The traveler hat turned out perfect. Love that vibrant blue.
Thank you!!

I just ran back to the pattern to check and I definitely knit the youth size for worsted weight. haha
@@stacyelstone oh wow, that is crazy! Maybe the pattern is for looser fitting hats. The cast on stitches seem high.

Could you run a lifeline for the shoulders and just kitchener them? 3 needle bind offs make no sense to me so I always switch them out.
I have no idea, I'm not familiar with cardigans constructed like this so I'm just following the pattern!
Im like that with magic loop. I can do it, its easy. I dont enjoy it.
