My brother has autism, he's verbal and is six. When we go the store, we ALWAYS have to go to the clearance section. It's a routine for him. Whenever he gets escalated or upset, he asks me for 'squeezes' which means he squeezes my hand as hard as he can until he feels better. Trains and Mustangs make him happy, and he loves the color blue. I love your guys' channel because, as the oldest of four with an autistic brither, it gets hard when we get looks when we're out in public and he's stimming, or when people give my mom a death glare when he has meltdowns. Your channel has helped me know I'm not alone. And even though Abby is nonverbal and older than my brother, I know thst if you guys can get through it, so can I. I love my brother and would never ever trade him for the world. You guys helped me soo much when I furt found yout channel. Thank you
You are one of the best kiddos ever!!!!!!!!!! Your sibblings and momma are very blessed to have you in their lifes! This is one of the best comments I have seen yet!!! KUDDOS AGAIN!!!
Abbie isn't a difficult child, she's thought provoking. ;) And something I have noticed is she's standing up straighter! I know you guys have been working on her looking at what she's doing, reaching up, and having the foot confidence to not watch her feet, and it shows! I'm sure her back feels better too, not curved down watching her feet.
I know Abbie doesn’t like anything restricting her feet. My niece has similar sensory issues to restriction. We found that what helped her best with learning to pedal her bike was full length pedals instead of the small ones that typically come on bikes! She was more comfortable and it helped her to feel a little more stable. Don’t know if that’s something that may help Abbie just thought I’d throw that idea out in case y’all would like to try it! I love watching Abbie get better and better at riding her bike! I cannot wait until the day she learns todo it by herself! She is doing fantastic!!!❤️
Abby and people like Abby and people with compromised immunity is the reason I wear a mask. Same reason I get all my immunizations. I do it because some people can't get immunizations due to allergies.. some people can't wear mask due to sensory issues. I wish people would take the politics out of mask wearing, also quit complaining because it is uncomfortable and think of the Abbies of the world. If you don't have a diagnosis to keep you from wearing a mask please wear one.
From watching for nearly 4 years I can’t ever recall Abbie ever having any issues with compromised immunity. Not even a peanut allergy. If anything, she’s almost unnaturally physically healthy; she’s rarely sick.
I wear my mask when I can, although I often have to take it off for a few minutes to breathe due to asthma. I almost made a comment comparing wearing masks to vaccines- those who can should because of those who can't. 😁
Just be careful of that false sense of security wearing a mask. That covid goes right through the material. The only mask to stop it is N95. If you can blow a candle out through the mask that spit it still flying.
You go down the toy aisle with my BF, if it has a button that you push to make it make noise he does. He will have every toy making noise at the same time.
Oh my goodness the way she was running around the patio like “catch me if u can dad” had me rolling😂 my goodness i love the sweet little girl she makes my day so much better always! Love you guys and your adorable little family ❤️❤️💕
Agreed! If a person can watch that part of the video and not smile themselves, then I don't think they are human! Her giggle is the best sound on earth!
I think that it must be so overwhelming to be out at the shop after being isolated for so long but the excitement of being out won over thankfully, your girl is a gem!
I've taken a bit of a break from watching TH-cam..but upon returning and watching im just so happy for and proud of abbie! She's always looking like she's engaging in your reality more and its just so beautiful 😍
I bawled. I flat out ugly-cried when you said, "They just can't hear our music, Abs." Thank you so much for sharing your AUSOME life with us, struggles and wins and all. May God bless your family more and more. 🧩♾️❤️
Try a different type of mask: The fabric ones are usually really thick, which can make it hard to breathe. I really like the white/blue "medical" ones because they're thin and also give you more room. Another alternative would be one of those white "paper" construction masks - those give you a lot of room but you can also feel your breath with them, which can get hot.
Have you tried a bandana... its tighter nose and size of head... but not really on ears or chin... so your breathing is easier and you can lift it up to breath
Josie- I'm proud of you for trying! Just think about how many adults without sensory issues have problems wearing masks! I know you don't know me, and my opinion isn't worth much. Just know you have someone in south Louisiana who is very proud of you!
I really do see her growing and progressing as a person. She’s doing so awesome and doing so many things on her own. Must be so amazing to watch that growth every day. You guys are so awesome!
I’m a first year self contained SPED teacher and your videos are so educational about children with disabilities at home. Abby rocks and I’m cheering her on every step of the way. You guys are amazing parents ❤️
2:30 I'm 16 and my friends around my age and I love toys and non of us are interested in boys, we're seen as the immature bunch at school but hey everyone is different.
I mean. When I was 16, sure I was into boys... but you could always find me down the toy aisle IN the cart 😂. I'm 26 and I go to the toy aisle for me vs my kids
I was into allllll the books, and Lego sets. My mother was very concerned 🙈🤣 Married with three kids now, so I did eventually grow up...but I still have Lego sets that I don't share with my kids 😂
As Asa is describing the whole bike situation with the helmet I am yelling go you two as parents!! all of the thought that goes into her learning process. So happy for your growth as parents! Your whole family is so inspiring. I hope to be half as understanding and willing to love and learn with our future children! as always thank you for sharing your journey with us.
I made lemon sugar cookies once . Best choice I ever made , best cookies I think I ever made too . Cooked perfect , perfect in flavor , it was amazing !
Marla Reid I’m pretty sure I just followed a sugar cookie recipe and substituted/add lemon juice and a few drops of lemon extract. I always told myself I’d probably never get them that perfect again. Added a dusting of powdered sugar on top mmm mmm . I wish you could post picture in the comment section lol I have pictures of them ! 😂😅
Abigail is a credit to you both and Isiah, she has the most beautiful and cheeky smile. Thank you for sharing your story and your life with us. I understand what you go through, my grandmother used to be a matron in a special needs school (many years ago) caring for children and young adults with different abilities. We would often care for children for respite needs. You're just amazing :)
I came across your channel a few months ago and I have to say Abbie melts my heart. I love watching you guys! Asa and Priscilla, you 2 are amazing people and you can feel the love you have for your kids! Thank you for making these videos and allowing us to be part of your family!
First video I’ve seen of y’all. Amazing parents. Patient. Talking tenderly to her. Knowing her cues. My niece and her husband are similar. Their daughter has severe cerebral palsy - pretty much a 26 year old infant. Respiratory issues put her in the hospital a lot. My niece always stays with her. They take her everywhere they go. She loves the beach. These kids are special and have awesome parents.
I admire both of ur success, positivity and self confidence! U both inspire me! I have to say I haven't been watching for a while ...I now am able to catch up! Remote learning helping my very active 5.5 old step son has drained me. He is an amazing boy diagnosed w/ADHD and some other stuff but not diagnosed yet on that. I have been depressed as well and watching ur videos now makes me so happy!
You are killin it! Abbie is so fortunate to have you two ❤️ and all the people you are guiding through this with your knowledge and pure kindness could never thank you enough.
For my son we took off the peddles completely for a few summers than when it came time to buy him a new bike. We left the peddles on and it was amazing how he just hopped on and peddled, because he had the balance packed down, he was 14 and a half but finally got it. Don;t give up she will get it. Love your blogs we know your struggles far too well..
Wal Mart is scary for a whole lot of reasons but with Abbie it's patterns in the ceiling - or lack thereof. Wal Marts are basically 3 story warehouses with aisles but with open girders and buzzing flourescent lights and echoses and loudspeakers. Targets have 12' high drop ceilings with noise absorbing panels and no exposed lighting.
I work with adults with autism, mental health and other developmental challenges. Your approach to masks is really great. Not trying to force her and encouraging her to wear when you both wear it and slowly increasing the amount of time wearing the mask. You are both great parents and I great advocate for Abby. She is doing awesome. I love how you are both able to make difficult or boring things fun.
She is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!💓➕🌸🌷🌺💓🌷🌸➕ she just looks sooo happy!!!! And beyond excited to be shopping with y'all!!! This is what I would see as an outsider looking in...and what I would do as a passer byer is smile say hi...and internally my heart would say thank you for that smile y'all gave me!!!!💓...yall are such AMAZING PARENTS!!!!!! And I wish there were more loving parents out there like the both of y'all !!!!!!➕🌸🌷🌺💓🌺🌷🌸➕ may y'all ALWAYS HAVE LOVE AND HAPPINESS !!!!
So glad you talked about developmental. My almost 19 year old daughter (on the spectrum) has reached the equivalent of a sixth grader. And she struggles with self-judgment because she likes things sixth graders like. I’m constantly trying to help her see it’s ok to be where she IS, so thanks so much!!!
I’m pretty sure I started sobbing when Abbie started looking at Asa at their Mexican food date 😭 the way I looked at my own father when I was little and thought he was the most amazing man ever (still is) 😩
I found you by accident and I am now hooked on your fantastic videos. My twin brother has learning difficulties and my parents always showed him what he could do and not on what the doctors said he couldn't do. I absolutely love your parenting skills. You are doing an amazing job. Sending you all lots of love all the way from the United Kingdom 😁x
Idk how you guys do it, you guys are amazing. I have three kiddos who have been diagnosed with autism and it's very challenging doing it on my own but watching your guys videos gives me hope that I can do it too. Lots of love from Maine ❤️💕
It’s crazy as someone not on the spectrum, you don’t think of the cold and warm, the people sticking, etc.....thank you for sharing that info! I love y’all so much. Abbie is so amazing! And she has cake soooooo far!! 🥰
What if instead of a toe strap or clip, you built some pedals that were like Crocs or Flip Flops, maybe it could stabilize her foot in place on the pedal, but not be as restrictive.
Please tell Isaiah to be careful this weekend with the tropical storm! I know the main part is hitting New Orleans (Im in Arkansas) but it will, if it isnt already, hit Florida pretty bad too!! I love watching yall! Most wholesome family on TH-cam.
My brother can't. He's also autistic and absolutely hates them. He will not keep it on. That and he's allergic to the paper masks they give you at the doctor's office.
One Vast and Ecumenical Holding Company I totally agree with!!! I can’t stand to see anyone wear them either………… the Chinese have been wearing them 24/7, for years!!!! It hasn’t helped them. I work in the medical field …… masks are for the sick NOT the healthy.
Could Abbie signing bathroom be her associating bathroom-bath-bathing suit (bath suit)? Added: next time try running your hands over their fur and mess it all up, that should get them to shake again trying to fix it. 🙂
@@Kcnbs4ever1 Thank you, I understand that I've watched them for years 🙂. It was just a curious thought since it seems that she has been doing better with language and understanding.
Watching your videos makes quarantining very easy I look forward to seeing them every day every Abbie always makes me nervous when she dances I'm always afraid she's going to hit her head but she seems to do just fine you are make me smile thank you
my mom has weightless surgery a few years ago, it was a mini gastric bypass, and she can't hold down ANY food really at all ever. she also can't eat big porportions and does order the whole menu but only eats like 3 bites lol. so I know exactly what y'all r going thru with the eating n stuff. its hard an very strategic but I'm sure she will love her results and will feel completely better once she has everything down pact. love your channel.
Loving the fact that Abbie dances to the beat of her own drum ❤️❤️❤️ and then mum Dances to Abbies beat❤️❤️ you guys are AMAZING 🥰😍❤️❤️ lots of love from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Watching Abbie checking out the toys was so adorable. RE: Mask, bike, etc. safety: You guys know your daughter the best, and know whats best for her! People have to trust that you guys have her best interest at heart and are doing your BEST as parents! Great job guys!!
"Dancing in Target, they just can't hear our music" melted my heart. 🥺💕

“We’re rocking this parenting thing” 2 minutes later down the vlog Abbie laughing hysterically “you’re bad” 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
She really is trying with the mask. She looks so happy ! I can seen a growth in her from before the pandemic! She’s more confident.
Seeing Abbie’s smile while in Target was refreshing!!
I was just thinking about how awesome her smile is! that little smirk she does makes my day
This video seems like a preview of how things might be when Isaiah is at college. I wish you all well.💕
I hope the cart steering helps with bike steering. Seems like she's understanding how to turn.

It’s so easy to smile when Abbie smiles...Can’t help myself. ❤️
Pricilla teaching the dogs how to shake made me laugh 😂
Can't help but to smile ear to ear when Abby is being silly and running from you
Could Abbie signing bathroom be her associating bathroom-bath-bathing suit (bath suit)?
Added: next time try running your hands over their fur and mess it all up, that should get them to shake again trying to fix it. 🙂
Crimson Wabbit she signs bathroom to avoid a task or get out of a situation or place
@@Kcnbs4ever1 Thank you, I understand that I've watched them for years 🙂. It was just a curious thought since it seems that she has been doing better with language and understanding.
