@@FreelanceMVP Actually, yes. However, I didn't have a lot of (or any, lol) activity and just decided to change my niche entirely (without deleting my profile). So, I'm essentially starting from scratch. I'm optimistic though! :)
Hi, Evan! I'm 74 and greatly value the little time I have left on this planet. So thank you for for your clear and concise video on the pros and cons of the three main platforms. I can see why you are so successful! I am constantly annoyed at the closed captions I see. They are full of typos, poor translations and the like. Do you think I could be first in my niche if tackled the closed captions world?
I have noticed that too. It can be downright embarrassing how bad they are. I think this shows the weakness of AI, which I believe is where these things come from. I would think anyone who cares about the accuracy of their captions would be so glad to have someone who cares to do it well, and knows how.
@Christopher Thank you SO much for subscribing - love that you're here! We have a few videos on the channel so far, just building out our content so we can start to cover more of the bases - short answer: WE'RE WORKING ON IT! ❤️ Here's a little taster in the meantime... Dominating your niche is where the fun really starts. You start to get more invites, more clients come your way, you get to raise your rates with no issue, and money flows like a rushing river... That's the dream, right? In my case, it actually was a dream. It wasn't that easy to get there. In fact, it took me kind of a lot of time grinding to really nail what REALLY was working. Here's what I would say are some of the most important things to realize, that will probably help you get there in a fraction of the time that it took me: 1. NO DRAMA. This is a MAJOR rule. Actively eliminate all headaches from your life. It's like strategically pressing the Unsubscribe button. On the Upwork side of things, that means specifically avoiding any and all projects that could become a headache. 2. See RULE #1! 3. YOUR GUT IS ALWAYS RIGHT. If you've been doing this full-time for a year or have done at least enough projects, you probably know most of the red flags, but pay close attention to the YELLOW FLAGS. Never ignore your what your gut tells you, because it is ALWAYS right. If you have even the tiniest suspicion that this isn't a perfect client / perfect-fit job, then just pass on it. Better to wait for the perfect one, than to spin your wheels, waste time and have a headache that could end in a bad review that slows you down for months. You do your best work (and high-volume stress is FAR MORE manageable) when you're happy, have only great clients, and are enjoying every second of what you do. 4. EMBRACE THE HEADACHE TAX. If you DO take on a headache, make sure it's at least an expensive one, and time-limited. There are few things worse than an imperfect-fit job that drags on and on, that you took because you just wanted some extra cash. Just go in with totally-open eyes, make the conscious decision and say to yourself, "I KNOW that this is going to be a headache - so I better add the headache tax. Am I certain as to when this headache will be over, though?" 5. LOVE SAYING NO. Be extremely comfortable saying No to a LOT. If you have a dry spell, make it a game of "How Many Times Can I Say No Thanks In a Row?" because positivity is infectious, and you'll win projects before you know it. 6. CHANGE IT UP. Always try new things. If you keep doing what you've been doing, you'll always get the same results. 7. UP YOUR GAME. In your downtime, you should always be learning. The moment you start to think you're pretty good at what you do, is the moment you plateau and stop growing. 8. CREATE YOUR MOST PRODUCTIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT. Create your ideal work environment, because you will quickly realize that hourly is NOT the way to go. There's only so many hours you can track. Tracking 40 hours / week is a debilitating grind, and the work involved in building a business requires productivity, peace and quiet. Noise-cancelling headphones are your best friend. I like the Airpod Pro + Sony WH1000 MX4 even though those are pretty big, they last all day. 9. TAKE TIME TO JUST CHILL. Take frequent breaks to do things you love. It's like in Indiana Jones where he can't figure out how to get out of the castle, and the father leans back in the chair and says, "I find that when I just sit down and think... the solution presents itself." Chill out and have fun frequently. 10. BE 20% WEIRD. If you worked for someone else before, then you stopped having to be somebody else the moment you left the job. You are now your own person - and that person is probably pretty weird but produces EXCELLENT work. Embrace the weird (20% of the time), because it's awesome. Should I do an actual video about this? Lots of work, but it's worth it.

Put it this way: I think Linda Evangelista had a great point. www.crfashionbook.com/celebrity/a27409908/linda-evangelista-quote-10000-a-day/ Fill in the blank with your number (make it HIGH), then practice the phrase in the mirror, over and over again: "My minimum project scope is $______" ...because eventually, it will come true, and you'll have to raise your number.

Hey! Love your content :) What would you say is the best platform for a digital strategist & advertising specialist? I have 10+ years of experience and many case studies to show, never levegered these platforms though and interested in starting. Thanks
I'm a software engineer with 11 years of experience and I joined TopTal, but couldn't take any job for the past 6 months. I applied to many many jobs and answered job interest requests within minutes only, but then nothing. I always get the message. You will likely not be chosen for the job and try to respond earlier next time. :/
Hi Evan, I'm struggling to get JSS on Upwork, despite earning more than $10K on the platform and having multiple 5-star reviews. Any strategy to sort this out?
@Ask Jamal thanks for joining us! Great question! My thoughts... Great earnings, but how many projects have you completed with 5-star feedback? If the jobs you're working on are large (meaning, one project makes up $9.99k of the $10k) and it's not closed yet, then that can hold you back from getting your JSS and getting Top Rated. Smaller projects will build your feedback in the beginning, so for example if there's one large project you're going to work on, see if the client is OK with ending the contract / giving feedback after you reach a certain milestone (for example at the $2k mark). You lock in the 5-star feedback then propose a new contract (the "..." button after the contract is ended). Break projects apart like that and you'll have a greater NUMBER of feedback scores to feed into your JSS. Here's what Upwork says about when your JSS is calculated: "Not all projects and clients are equal, so the time it takes to get a JSS varies. In order to get a JSS, you need to complete: A. Projects with 2 (or more) different clients B. 4 (or more) different contracts within 24 months More than 90% of freelancers have a score after 5 projects, and nearly all freelancers have scores after completing 8 projects. We exclude clients whose freelancers report a history of unreasonable feedback so that their scores won't count against you, but that may mean it takes longer to accumulate enough reviews to receive your initial score." So, you need at least 2 different Upwork clients, and 4+ contracts within 24 months. The contracts part is the harder of the two criteria typically - thus my suggestion on breaking jobs apart into smaller "sub-jobs" Is that helpful to you?
Hey Evan, great video. Do you think that TT, by forcing you to lower the rate, wants to take larger piece of cake, or they are just worried about you not getting hired?
Hey Laki, the funny thing is, I believe TT sent me that “recommendation” when they had proposed me for a certain job, and that specific client wanted to work with only me (not other people on TT) but I think the client was pushing back on project budget. In the end I held strong. And I got hired.
Hi mvp I'm new here and also your new sub, but I want to start my work don't know how to start like I can do graphic designing animation video editing logos and much more how to make profile for all at once?
Should I make multiple accounts for freelancing? For example, should I make one for say data entry and another for graphic design since you say our accounts should be centralized around one niche?
Hi Evan. Thanks for the great work you are doing. Please I want to ask. Is it normal for a client to ask a freelance to deposit a refundable security fee before the freelancer can be given the job. Please enlighten me on this.
Hey @JudeInspired thanks for joining us! I would suggest reading through the Upwork Terms of Service. Not only is it extremely suspicious, I am almost 100% certain that would be a violation of the ToS.
I've seen over the years so many youtube vids and I dont think ive seen a better one for how you present and put across without that whats happing crap intro. Ive built lots of youtube channels and get them all to number one ( apart from the one I am commenting from!) is there a market for this designing and creating youtube channels? I tried the real estate market it ranks number for long beach real estate agent ( also name of channel) but doesn't do anything tried to promote and put to agents no joy. I am now thinking after watching your videos Upwork, I would appreciate any thoughts you have Evan. I would like to thank you for the great video its easy to see why you have been successful Evan. Thanks David
Hey Evan, thanks for the video, very helpful. I'm a sw developer/data scientist, I have a full job but I get paid much less that I want, so I was trying to do some side work to get some extra money. I honestly have no idea if I could keep up a double work, so from your description I was thinking that maybe Fiver is the easiest platform: small projects just to get started and see how it goes. Do I get it correctly?
@Prajwal Sharma Great question! I think one really important thing that I keep hearing from successful freelancers (that I agree with) is this... Your work on Upwork is not freelancing. You are building a BUSINESS. When you think about everything you do as a part of the BUSINESS you're building, then you look at things a totally different way. You take a lot more care with everything you do, you are far more careful with the work you do and the clients you work with - the world just takes on a whole different color when you assume that today, you might be a one-man business, but tomorrow you might have a team of 10 people. You start looking for opportunities to drastically raise your rates (by way of QUALITY) to the point that you can grow your business extraordinarily fast. When you stop thinking in terms of "trading hours for money" and start thinking about "the product that you are selling" then you'll start seeing how to build from there. Is this helpful to you? #freelancevideos
This is really helpful sir! I'm currently leaning towards toptal Please, is it really compulsory that i have work experience or can i augment with some personal projects?
As I live in Pakistan so can I make my future bright, working on upwork full time as graphic designer?? Don't want to go for jobs want to be successful as you're, so let me know a few useful tips about the region where I live how to be best seller.
@Isaac Ndubuisi Hello Isaac, are you referring to adding a PDF as an attachment to a proposal? If so, then yes, that's fine so long as it complies with Upwork's Terms of Service. What do you mean by the second question, "what if am blocked"?
Hello, I'm new here. I want to start being a freelancer to translate documents from English - French and get paid for it. I lived in Ivory Coast in West Africa. Where and how should I start?
Is it normal for Upstart clients to ask you to respond on another app? I just signed up and submitted 5 proposals, two of them messaged me asking to text them on another app (whatsapp and telegram). Is this normal?
I have paid $50 security amount on toptal , project has been approved as well .. now for payment thing, they are saying to deposit $200 which would be refundable... I am confused to trust them or not...can Anyone help??

Put it this way: I think Linda Evangelista had a great point. www.crfashionbook.com/celebrity/a27409908/linda-evangelista-quote-10000-a-day/
Fill in the blank with your number (make it HIGH), then practice the phrase in the mirror, over and over again:
"My minimum project scope is $______"
...because eventually, it will come true, and you'll have to raise your number.
I joined a project here. They say that you have to deposit the money and buy the identity card before finally giving the salary. Is it true?
My goal was to have work from home. The office... It wasn't always the best... I feel more refresh work from home...
@Aldinimasi welcome to the channel - glad to have you here! Work from home is often SO much better than the office. You control your own hours, your own environment, everything. It's GREAT! Have you been doing remote work for a long time?
which one is best for nft artist?
there is shift evening in toptal and also how much is the best rate hour for developers
I know developers with a very specific skill set that charge $500/hour
@@FreelanceMVPwhich are you core as developer in toptal ans those other similar sites, I mean you are backend or frontend, both or mobile developer
I'm not a developer
love it!
Thanks Ryan!
On Upwork where do I go to check out my opposition. I’m a telemarketer in Australia
Use the search bar, dropdown search for telemarketer / telemarketing, but choose Search Freelancers instead of Search Jobs!!
I know node js.. Should I go for block chain Or app dev?
What happens when you don't submit your portfolio to Toptal in the 6 days timeframe you're given?
fairly confident that Toptal then denies your application

how come am having a hard time getting a client on upwork
I'm a software engineer with 11 years of experience and I joined TopTal, but couldn't take any job for the past 6 months. I applied to many many jobs and answered job interest requests within minutes only, but then nothing. I always get the message. You will likely not be chosen for the job and try to respond earlier next time. :/
Evan help me please :( . I have more than 2 years try yo get clients on this plataform and I don't get any answered. What's will the problem?
Did you watch all the videos on the channel, Jose?

Here's what Upwork says about when your JSS is calculated:
"Not all projects and clients are equal, so the time it takes to get a JSS varies. In order to get a JSS, you need to complete:
A. Projects with 2 (or more) different clients
B. 4 (or more) different contracts within 24 months
More than 90% of freelancers have a score after 5 projects, and nearly all freelancers have scores after completing 8 projects.
We exclude clients whose freelancers report a history of unreasonable feedback so that their scores won't count against you, but that may mean it takes longer to accumulate enough reviews to receive your initial score."
So, you need at least 2 different Upwork clients, and 4+ contracts within 24 months. The contracts part is the harder of the two criteria typically - thus my suggestion on breaking jobs apart into smaller "sub-jobs"
Is that helpful to you?
@@FreelanceMVP WoW! Thanks Evant. That surely helps. I'm a top rated seller on Fiverr with Fiverr Choice gigs. Now its time to kill Upwork!
It's a very different system but if you're focused on delivering quality, then you will do well!
is there any secure fee required on Toptal?? before realising the project?
Hey Evan, great video. Do you think that TT, by forcing you to lower the rate, wants to take larger piece of cake, or they are just worried about you not getting hired?
Hey Laki, the funny thing is, I believe TT sent me that “recommendation” when they had proposed me for a certain job, and that specific client wanted to work with only me (not other people on TT) but I think the client was pushing back on project budget. In the end I held strong. And I got hired.
@@FreelanceMVP how was your rate at the time?
Hi mvp I'm new here and also your new sub, but I want to start my work don't know how to start like I can do graphic designing animation video editing logos and much more how to make profile for all at once?
Should I make multiple accounts for freelancing? For example, should I make one for say data entry and another for graphic design since you say our accounts should be centralized around one niche?
Only one account allowed.
I update my profile description little by little almost every day .there are any problems?
which website is the most famous or most used for freelancing ?
Fiverr and Upwork. Fiverr by sheer number of freelancers - Upwork by $$$
how can I start with lower requtation?
Thanks for the info. Hello from Ukraine.
Do you think one can do Toptal along side a full-time job?
Yes, 100% you could. It’s just a question of your availability.
Do I get it correctly?
very valuable thank u very much
Can you do a review of turing?
They are quite legit too imo
How can i make money on upwork as a graphics designer and a video animator?

God, love your videos. Thank you!!
Hi Evan, I’ve been sending proposals on Upwork but I haven’t gotten a job as yet. Why is that?
And the jobs I have been looking into are data entry jobs
have you watched all the videos on this channel and taken all the steps?
I'm already on Upwork but I want to move to Toptal because I wanna hit top 3%
That's a great goal @Aleem!
I want to know how to become the dominating freelancer of my niche on Upwork 😊

Is it normal for Upstart clients to ask you to respond on another app? I just signed up and submitted 5 proposals, two of them messaged me asking to text them on another app (whatsapp and telegram). Is this normal?
Those would likely be scams - it's against Upwork's Terms of Service to message clients outside of Upwork Messenger prior to a contract
