Since the magnum doesn't exist anymore the Charger would be the best non SUV option for a car guy with a family. That being said, if the charger had a manual, i would almost prefer it over a Challenger simply because it's practical. TBH I've been looking into buying a Charger R/T for myself but the Number 1. thing that makes me hesitate is the fact that there's no manual. Currently i daily a 5 speed Dodge Dakota. But i just don't want to lose my manual.
@@MarspeedCars so those enthusiasts that want manual transmission are have to move to the dodge challenger rt & up to get that transmission.. also why dodge don't offer a manual transmission on base V6 challenger models?
The very reason that Dodge never had an manual offering, is why I took a pass on the Charger as well as the 300, and have hung onto my 05 Acura TL 3.2 6 speed. I purposely waited for Dodge to release the 6 speed in the Challenger for 09, and promptly bought 1. While it's a great road trip car for 2, I much prefer the 4 doors of the Acura for daily use. So, yeah, if Chrysler ever did or decided to release a 6 speed 4 door Charger or 300, my ol Acura would be gone! The Tremec 6 speed is the best manual I've ever driven! I'm saving my pennies to do a swap in my Dakota, to replace its crappy NV3500.

I've been a Mopar man for most of my life, but there now are no 4-door Dodges or Chryslers with manuals. I definitely would have preferred a manual. I know my auto is faster, but I’m not racing my car, I daily drive mine and a manual is more fun. With out a family I would have bought the challenger instead solely based on that manual option.
Here's a good one for you? Why doesn't the Challenger get full stop emergency braking, lane departure or stop-and-go adaptive cruise control when the Technology group option is installed? The Charger can.
It really all depends on the car. I have a Manual ws6 and I freaking love it but DODGE dropped the ball on the manual in the Hellcat. I had to get and Auto Hellcat challenger after driving both the manual and the auto. They geared the transmission weird and because how heavy the car is, it just feels soooooooo slow... now the auto feels like a 700 hp car and this is coming from a person that loves manual. I don’t consider anything that dodge sells ( except the late viper) a sports car, they are more grand touring cars imho. I don’t see dodge keeping manual much longer
I would have like to seen the sales stats on the Chevy SS since thats a big V8 manual car. They may give us a little better of an idea would the Charger manual sold well. It would have been also hard to compare since its a Chevy vs Dodge
That’s a damn good idea haha wish I would have done it 👍🏽. If you or anyone else is wondering though there was 12,861 sales totals (US only figures) from 2013-2017 (5 years). The final year (2017) was the highest though with 4,055.

I’ve had my 2010 sxt for 5 and a half years and it’s been a good car but damn I want a v8 lol. I’ve been driving my parents Ram sport hemi and it’s been really fun. It has a air grabber on and claims it puts out 30 plus horse power but idk if I believe that ha but its way more powerful than my car
I wanted a manual challenger untill i test drove both options. I ended up with the A8 trans. It was just too good. If i wanted a manual trans i would buy a lighter more nimble car. These cars are just so big and heavy i liked the feel of the auto better. But that's my opinion of course
I'm thinking about getting a 2018 Charger after dealing with the engine tick on the 2018 Mustang. Been a Mustang owner for 16 years but it might be time for a change. My 2 kids need more room. Lol How reliable are the new Chargers? Any input would help. .
New chargers are about as reliable as a new mustang lol basically the same shit nowadays just take your pick and the tick in mustangs has been proving to be nothing just check your oil, 392’s tick every time you shut them off also
I don't really want to buy a challenger over a charger(have 2 kids) but I am because I want that 6 speed manual. Other car I am looking at is the Chevy SS with the manual but they overpriced it so much I might have to skip it cuz its definitely not worth $40,000 for a used one.
The only drawback to the Challenger is that you can't get a 4-door model. However, the Challenger looks a whole better than the Charger. Of course, if I could have any choice, though, I'd rather have a 'Cuda or a Roadrunner (with some of the newer Challenger features added). It's too bad Chrysler made the Charger look so bloated. My cousin's '69 Charger looks so much better.
I don't see why they can't make one. Like the demon cost a cool 100,000 so it won't hurt to add another 10 to a srt. I think they to lazy to figure it out.
The manual tranny is the main selling point of the Challenger over the Charger for me. I've got kids and groceries, but I'd still like to enjoy my "muscle car". FWIW, I don't own either. I drive a 4-speed, 4-door '69 Dodge Dart. A 5.2L V8 that makes half the horses of a modern five litre, and also gets half the fuel economy. Gotta love old cars. It's faster than minivans and Prius...es. so at least I have that.
I was gonna buy a charger because me and friends smoke weed and hot box my cars. But, the Charger didn’t have a standard option. So I opted for a M6 Camaro...

Nope, I wouldn’t but one. Dodge makes a beautiful looking, mean sounding car, but quality has gone down hill. I will never own another Dodge/Chrysler product that that generation started production in the 21st century. There were some models that crossed over into the 2000’s that were good, but after that, NOPE!
Manual isn't about speed, but about feel. If you are looking just for speed, should look for a Tesla: 0-60 in 2 seconds, wow! These V8 muscle cars are about experience, about feel the engine roaring, the rear wheel spinning and making burnouts, the chassis vibration...of course you must have a manual to also feel the gears... If you are exclusively looking for speed, these cars are not for you. Don't get me wrong, they are fast, but this package have more than speed.
If I were in my 20's or 30's I would definitely go for manual, but since I'm over 50 I do prefer an automatic transmission, but always a V8 powerplant....
A 6 speed in a charger will kill all two door sports cars. It will kill two birds with one stone. Chevy got smart and pulled the SS. If the public knew how great of a family beast this was, Camaro and Corvette would suffer. Same would happen to the challenger and viper
But auto is faster they say... Well I don't care about that so much as I don't get the same thrill with all that power under the hood and me not shifting gears, I'll give up a few 10ths of a second. I'd have more fun in a manual 160 HP economy car than a 400+ HP auto
Dodge can make a manual transmission for charger but they are looking at more sales with automatic and a lot of Americans are just plain lazy. I myself have been driving manual for 40 years and I live in New York City all my life so its like butter to me
Dodge Chargers would have been great with a manual transmission.

I definitely would have preferred a manual. I know my auto is faster, but I’m not racing my car, I daily drive mine and a manual is more fun. With out a family I would have bought the challenger instead solely based on that manual option.
I personally think the charger would be alot better with a 6 or 7 speed manual option.
Here's a good one for you? Why doesn't the Challenger get full stop emergency braking, lane departure or stop-and-go adaptive cruise control when the Technology group option is installed? The Charger can.
My 2012 SRT charger and my 2009 R/T charger woulda both been Manual if it was an option.
Because is a big American sedan, most of the buyers want a comfortable ride (Like the 300c but cheaper).
I also believe Cleveland Power and Performance also did a manual 300 SRT as well.
Terrific video. Thx for this!
my buddy has a 2006 charger RT we got it set up with a solid stage 2 and a few stage 3 parts we have been recently looking to swap it to a manual and its looking like a T56 with a modified bell could work but were yet to try it out
Can anyone help im getting a shudder in low rpms and when stopping it gose away when i put it in manual mode it shifts fine but when im trying to maintain speed it shudders if i give it more gas it gose away maybe its the torq converter i had the trans overhauled like a year and a half ago i have 145 on the dash really dont wanna put a new trans and converter in it
I'm thinking about getting a charger as the main car for my private car group, this was very informative thx
I have kids so I need 4 doors. Been trying to decide whether to go with the scat pack or subaru sti. Learning that chargers don't have a manual option made my decision. Subaru it is.
Same man one day soon we be in Hemis
I would buy a manual Charger in a heart beat!
What about the new Charger in 20/21? Do you think it will have a manual?
That could definitely be a possibility tbh not sure which route they’re gonna take
I did not know there was an optional 8speed for the 12-14 Chargers, I wonder how many were built?
My Charger is 8-Speed and its from 2012
My neighbor had a 2012 Rallye trim Charger with the 8 spd.
Luv my Daytona 392 with 8 Speed Automatic
I'm from Cleveland ..I love those guys!!Cleveland power.
I didn't know that when the challenger first came out it was only a SRT Version available
I'm sure I saw a video of a charger srt 2012 with a manual transmission years ago. But I did not find the video. I will try to look for it later .
There should be another video of why the Viper never had an automatic option
But with every change in charger generation, dodge had the opportunity to plan for manual option.
Only if you put it in the AWD sxt setup because the sleeper factor
I wanted a manual challenger untill i test drove both options. I ended up with the A8 trans. It was just too good. If i wanted a manual trans i would buy a lighter more nimble car. These cars are just so big and heavy i liked the feel of the auto better. But that's my opinion of course
There is a conversion kit for a manual , there's a company that does it
Wish mines was manual. That's the only reason I want a Challenger now.
Yes, I would one of those to buy the Charger with a manual transmission. Lack of one is the only thing keeping me from buying it.
My friend has a 5-speed manual charger. Thought that was normal...
I'm thinking about getting a 2018 Charger after dealing with the engine tick on the 2018 Mustang. Been a Mustang owner for 16 years but it might be time for a change. My 2 kids need more room. Lol
How reliable are the new Chargers? Any input would help. .
New chargers are about as reliable as a new mustang lol basically the same shit nowadays just take your pick and the tick in mustangs has been proving to be nothing just check your oil, 392’s tick every time you shut them off also
Thanks for the info, Man. I've always wanted an answer to this question.
i really wish my 300 had a manual. i like them better than chargers anyway. both need the option in my opinion.
If this comes to original Charger (B-Body) it would have only 3 gears in AT.
The original charger was fwd lol
The only reason I didn’t buy a hellcat is because I couldn’t get a manual in the charger and I really don’t like the look of the challenger
Car companies make decisions on equipment options based on cost benefit analysis of pennies per unit,...darn bean counters, lol.
I would rather a manual because it's more fun but never thought of the cost and crash testing stuff. Makes sense!!
I don't really want to buy a challenger over a charger(have 2 kids) but I am because I want that 6 speed manual.
Other car I am looking at is the Chevy SS with the manual but they overpriced it so much I might have to skip it cuz its definitely not worth $40,000 for a used one.
I'm a Mustang fan, but if there is a manual Charger available, I would be driving one instead
My cousin's '69 Charger looks so much better.
if you ask anyone if they want a manual v8 sedan they would say yes. but if they actually made it it wont have any sales, like the chevrolet SS.
It’s been done. There’s a video on TH-cam
It should still be an option if you order it from dodge directly
I don't see why they can't make one. Like the demon cost a cool 100,000 so it won't hurt to add another 10 to a srt. I think they to lazy to figure it out.
Most great sedans would have benefited by having a Manuel transmission. Some people have kids but still want something fun to drive!
The one thing that I hate about my Hellcat. Well, and the ugly silver plastic around the gauges, but at least that can be wrapped.
Would love to have a manual in my magnum rt
I was gonna buy a charger because me and friends smoke weed and hot box my cars. But, the Charger didn’t have a standard option. So I opted for a M6 Camaro...
That poor camaro
Slow Vert thank you for going with something else and not associating us Mopar folks with foolish and irresponsible behavior. Driving high is not safe, nor cool, and should never be publicly endorsed whether you do it or not. Impressionable (young) people read these comments and don't need to be exposed to anyone endorsing irresponsible, dangerous behavior. Come on dude, come up for air and think... Don't make the people who use marijuana look bad. Don't give legislators a reason to come down on users with stricter laws. People have been given a tremendous gift with this relatively new cannabis legislation, please don't contribute to the ruin of the trust that was given to us. Help the marijuana using community show the world how people can use pot and yet still be safe.
I guess you would drive drunk too
he didnt say they smoke and drive. You can hotbox a parked car.
phubarr r/swoosh
why no manual on v6 challengers then?
Nope, I wouldn’t but one. Dodge makes a beautiful looking, mean sounding car, but quality has gone down hill. I will never own another Dodge/Chrysler product that that generation started production in the 21st century. There were some models that crossed over into the 2000’s that were good, but after that, NOPE!
you also neglected the 6 tremec swap kit that was launched back in 06/07.....
Truth this really never crossed my mind.
Why would you put a manual trans on a boat
How do you adjust the height of the headlight?
A 6 speed in a charger will kill all two door sports cars. It will kill two birds with one stone. Chevy got smart and pulled the SS. If the public knew how great of a family beast this was, Camaro and Corvette would suffer. Same would happen to the challenger and viper
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard
@@Au_blickymouse 😭😭😭
But auto is faster they say... Well I don't care about that so much as I don't get the same thrill with all that power under the hood and me not shifting gears, I'll give up a few 10ths of a second. I'd have more fun in a manual 160 HP economy car than a 400+ HP auto
Can you find similar info about other cars? Say 4th and 5th gen Subaru Legacy GT. I have a '12 GT. One of 87 by color, 1 of 227 by trim for said year.
Dodge can make a manual transmission for charger but they are looking at more sales with automatic and a lot of Americans are just plain lazy. I myself have been driving manual for 40 years and I live in New York City all my life so its like butter to me
