    I bought my Pint new a few months back and just today had my first nose dive - ran it out from just over 15mph. I’m a big guy, and although I love noodling around on the Pint in my neighborhood and at the airport I’ve been outgrowing the speed(as demonstrated by today’s nosedive), and that solidified my decision to add an XR to the “fleet.” I’ve been on used groups and eBay looking at them all year, and frankly the prices that both the XR and Pint command used made it an easy decision to buy both new. I hardly ever buy something new when used is an option, but when a board that’s cosmetically beat up and has hundreds of miles on it sells for only around a 5% discount, it’s easy for me to justify new and know exactly what riding has been done on it. Thanks for the video and happy riding!

    You were preaching the truth brother. It is interesting to see EUCs grow and change so quickly while the onewheel stays the same, but, at the same time, to buy a comparable EUC to a onewheel is still expensive. Something rugged that just works and has a 15-20 mile range while going off-road is still hard to find.

    I'm fine with the $1799 price point, it's a well designed transport with excellent reliability. It's ok to pay a bit more for something that is US based and had a lot of US inspection and testing during final assembly.
    Compare that to the EUCs which (for sure) have bigger batteries and speed etc at that price point, but are also China based and have poor quality control and reliability in comparison.
    What I'm not ok with is Future Motion's new policy of code-locking batteries to controllers so the user can't swap parts, and also FM's policy of not selling spare parts.
    Also, I'd like to see a slightly larger and faster Onewheel, with settable speed audio and visual warnings. And sure, bump the price up 10 to 20% that's fine if it has 20% more range, torque and speed. FM need to make the "premium" onewheel before someone else does. Like Evolve LaCroix type situation...
    Always a thought provoking video Jimmy.👍

      So, this is safe because it's made in US? And China's Unis aren't. Ok. That's bs. Go look at the video where they talk about how dangerous onewheel can be, there are countless of people who broke the collar bone, elbow, arms, etc with this. On reddit too. This is not safer than any other EV, in fact is pretty much one of the most dangerous. Because the nosedives that's unique to the onewheel.

    • @wizrom3046
      @wizrom3046 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hellmiauz Sure the Onewheel can be dangerous, like all self balancing things that do 20mph.
      But I was talking about RELIABILITY. That is the way it does not break down or blow up like a lot of Chinese rideables. They are made in Chinese factories with very low paid workers who just don't care about the product, and the assembly is rushed. The Onewheel is assembled in the US with a lot of care and testing, and that extra attention during final assembly makes a huge difference to the product reliability. 🙂

    I’ve only had a few weeks with my pint but an XR is still on my to buy list. I love commuting with the pint and I think it was a great investment. I train around the city and needed a way to get around quickly between areas that are close but not far enough to feel great about bringing a car along. My starter would probably give in about a year hah. I can’t wait to get an XR in a year or two. But for now, this Pint is doing the job just fine. I dont mind paying for something as long as I feel it's worth the price.
    That's the challenge Future Motion needs to over come. If they want the One wheel to stay worth the price they need to upgrade it.
    One thing for instance is the One Wheel having a forward nose dive.
    In my opinion that absolutely needs to go.
    When the battery gives out the board should slam backwards not forwards. That makes it significantly safer in my opinion.
    Also they should consider playing around with their sensor so the board might have more omnidirectional features.
    Also both boards should have built in handles for convenient carrying.
    Also while I'm fine with the speed they must upgrade the battery. Most people have to buy battery upgrades from third party manufacturing.
    I got an XR and it's hard finding those. But I found someone who sells s battery extension which basically doubles the range of the XR motion.
    And the way their battery works is essentially putting the battery on top of the fender.
    Future motion Should easily be able to make something like that..
    Maybe by having an extra battery built into the fenders and carbon cover so the parts come as part of a set and not only protects your device but enhances it as well..

      @@scalerc4x4 I'm a year late to this party but here's my two cents. The bare minimum context is that I bought a used XR despite the GT already being on the market, while the pint X has the range and the torque to match an XR, but it's not the same due to size and the factors it affects. There are little to no concerns that come with keeping an XR vs buying the latest and greatest in my book. The reason for that is the amazing community surrounding the onewheel. The XR being completely modular ( and free of worrying about R2R, anti-consumer practices) can be maintained ad infinitum. Not to mention upgraded beyond the scope of futuremotion's current flagship through the use of Vesc, new motors, maybe even remote tilt shenanigans.
      The only concern that may be a dealbreaker for some is that eventually, Future Motion will stop servicing the XR just as they did with the onewheel and the onewheel+ and some I don't fault consumers for feeling hesitant about keeping their XR's when the company ceases repair service. Having to rely on a smaller yet potent aftermarket (The Float Life, Stoke Life Service, etc.) for repairs I understand may turn some riders off. I bought mine about a year and a half ago, and I don't care about the money I spent on it at all. The first time I went like 2 miles up some steep, STEEP hills where I used to live to get back home, I was literally cheering. I used to bomb those hills on my longboard, then take the rest of the day to walk back to the top of the hill. That first ride on my XR was the first day of the rest of my life.

    I don’t have one but my 11 year old wants one. 1800.00 is a sting, especially for an 11 year old that probably feels it’s just a toy. I believe this is worth it for people that are going to use it for commuting on a regular basis. It’s cheaper than a car, little maintenance, no vehicle insurance or registration needed. So 1800 is a lot of money but is much cheaper than most transportation. I’ll get my son one when he understands the cost, value, etc. more to respect it and not treat it just as a toy he can forget in the front yard LOL.

    The XR is the perfect adjunct for automobile ownership. I burn gas driving my car ONLY when I need to do something that requires a car. For everything else I ride the XR. I easily go 2 weeks without taking the car out of the garage. 1100 miles on the XR and still rolling. Best purchase ever!!

      afaik, no increase in any quality, design, materials, or otherwise. It's just a matter of time before someone gets tired of an aging and stagnant product and makes something better. There are so many design & engineering improvements that could be made, but they are not.

    I've wanted an XR for at least a couple of years but I just can't justify the price due to how underpowered it is compared to basically any PEV in its price range (E-boards, EUC's, E-Scooters, etc.). Not to mention they way overcharge for accessories and swag as well, so there's no cheap way to get into the Onewheel brand. Even the Pint (which I rode because someone at my school let me try it) is crushed by basically every respectable e-board close to its price. As amazing as it was to ride, even that amount of fun isn't worth almost 2k to me. I'm hoping they release another XR that's more affordable and can actually compete in performance. Until then I'll be sticking with other types of PEVs.

    • @UcanThnkItuCanDoit
      @UcanThnkItuCanDoit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends who you are and what your needs are. The longboard is probably faster and arguably better for strictly commuting. The onewheel in my opinion provides the ability to commute and is superior in many other categories such as fun factor, quality, carving, goes over bumps and cracks, rides on grass, rides on dirt, wood bridges where the planks are laid horizontal to your wheels, etc.

    from a techie's rational point of view, i have to say that there is nothing to justify the rather boutique price price politics, other than being without any actual competition. quite possibly only due to hogging patents, and the market being too small for a chinese company to bother joining the party. as opposed to e-monowheels, where competition fosters innovation. (or 3D printing, that REALLY blew, up, when you could get the first chinese kits for under 200 bucks)
    "worth it" is a very subjective and emotional PoV
    on the topic of being outdated, there isnt that much potential for feature creep, other than making it more powerfull. so an "as opposed to" comparison to phones in particular is very accurate.
