What's preventing the rest of the skin to be changed isn't the new layer, but the component selection. So, what's that mask for? I've been using this technic for some time and I never needed a new layer. My comment here is to try and learn something new, especially about the use of that mask thing.
David Emanuel Caballero Salazar yeah I agree... Make sure you specify what is mirroring to what under the mirror tab and make sure everything is mirroring over to the correct joint
@@builtbycolossus I had looked up to that a lot and couldn't find the mirror problem. After a day of research I found the way. You need to name your Joint for Example "...L_..." and the corresponding joint on the right "...R_..." or whatever you want. Then you go in ngSkintool to "Mirror" and click on "Preview and Edit mapping". There you need to enter in Naming scheme your Patter "...L_..." and in the Opposite "...R_..." and klick apply. So everything you named will now be able to be mirrored. you klick in on of your layers on your layer, then klick any influence/joint then click paint then click on the mask then click in the "Mirror" tap on Mirror and there you go. Sometimes ngskintool crashes. Befor you mirror SAVE ;) ... I hope I could help with that all future people having trouble with the mirror thing. And by the way thank you so much for your tutorial !!! It is really awesome and helped a lot!!
Excellent video! Something I'm curious about, how would you go about this for an Anime character? would you say the process in still the same? It's something I'm commissioned to do a lot and I always run into issues when it comes to rigging the face.
Thanks As long as the eyelid joints are pretty close to their edge spans around eyelid I’d say it’d still work. This method relies on the close proximity from joint to vertices. Eye shape shouldn’t matter
thank you very much . is it possible to do a tutorial on facial skin (with mouth opening) with ngskintool.
Vallin Borel no worries.
Thanks for the idea. A lot to talk about there!
@@builtbycolossus cool

Awesome! thanks so much! So...where is that face rig?!...we NEED IT xD

a problem that I have with that tool, that sometimes the mirror does not do correctly

@@builtbycolossus Do you have a Discord?
I just made use of this amazing tip, literally without realizing it, I had already done it in 30 seconds
David Emanuel Caballero Salazar so good!
I did not start the video, I was amazed at the short duration of the video
David Emanuel Caballero Salazar could have been 30 seconds! But thought I’d talk for a bit 😁
@@builtbycolossus I would like more examples of the facial with more and different joints
