Congrats, man! The game looks really dope for a 48 hs solo jam, you gained a sub 😊. I hope next year I'll be confident enough for participating in the GMTK jam, looks really fun. Greetings from Argentina!
Hey man, just stumbled upon your channel, and I must say, your content is absolutely fantastic! Your way of presenting topics and talking is so engaging, funny and enjoyable. I can't wait to see what else you have in store. Consider me a new subscriber for sure! Keep up the amazing work!
Great Video! Subbed, nice save with the screen recordings for art, love the win screen. I managed to get win/loss screens done last minute but wish I'd had time for more sound effects and game feel
Ok that is a sick Idea. I sadly couldnt make a game for the game jam because I had shool work to do but in 1 week I have summer vacation and plan on starting my own Dev Channel. But nwo onto the game. It looks like a really good and fun game to play. The only thing that I think could be a problem is that the ai or the game is easily cheesable. Just put some spikes in a row while blocking the player with ramps and you win. THat method could work or couldnt I didnt play the game. But I will in the future! All in All looks like a Really Good game when having such a short time!
That’s what I was worried about but in the end it actually turned out pretty good, you couldn’t place the obstacles close enough and the Ai was pretty resilient, you’ll see when you play the game. Thanks for watching!! I’d love to check out your channel if you start it!
I was wondering since your objective was to create obstacles for the runner, why was it that you wanted him to be able to collect treasure. Or did I just hear that wrong and you actually wanted to create obstacles to block him from the treasure chests and every time he did so you could claim the money that was missed.
You actually wanted him to collect the chest, sorry I didn’t make that to clear, I know conceptually it doesn’t make much sense but it would’ve been way to easy the other way around and it was a fun challenge to try and get him to go where you wanted. Thanks for watching!
@@jpedo11 I'm curious what you meant by you thought it would be way too easy the other way. Do you think it would have been way too easy for the player to cause the runner to miss the treasure chest which would mean that the player would be able to power up quickly? I'm a huge fan of believing anything is possible at the conceptual level so if this is the case I think it would be fun to figure out ways to balance that. Because it would obviously link the theme like you are thinking. However you could also come up with a explanation such as you the player are trying to improve and test the runner in a sort of tough love kind of way. Each obstacle that you make him jump over actually get some experience points.
It would be too easy for the player to not collect the chests, and it doesn't need to make sense, it allows for a fun gameplay mechanic and I like how it felt in the game.
Loved the idea. As a suggestion, maybe the runner could have different behaviours/ skills during each run and you'd get a random set of assets each time as well. That time there'd be more variety between runs
I tried the game and it was pretty fun, but really easy, because you could just stack the boxes and the hero had no chance of getting past, also it was really unclear when you could place the traps and when not, I think you needed to place them far enough way from the player, but Im still not sure. Also some more feedback like placing particles and camera shake would have been appreciated. Also post processing, but I have said about that like 999999 times at this point and I feel like you don't care so yes.
I had a lot of feedback about the placing and I know how I could make it so much better but oh well, I do need start adding particles and stuff but in a game jam I just get lazy and really want to finish. Haha, I’m sorry that I keep not adding post processing, but I feel like in a game jam you need to focus on the essentials and the gameplay, and in my opinion, there are other things I could add first, like a particle system, especially for a style like this. Thanks! Sorry for the rant!!
@@jpedo11 For that post processing, im just gonna say that it doesn't take really any time at all, like 4 min and makes it look so much better. In my opinion it's always worth it, even if the jam is a trijam or something

Those where the prices, I didn't do a very good job of explaining that. Thanks for watching!
