I love my C5. I purchased it new 1/07/2000. I've put 54k miles on it and it still runs like a Swiss watch. I'm 70 years old now, and I don't get around like I once did, but I'm still young at heart. I don't have room in the garage for another car, so I will pass on entering the contest and wish good luck and happy motoring to all who participate.

It’s tough in my opinion to beat a C5 with pop ups and those curves and rear lights. To me it’s the last of the real Corvette. Not to mention getting a clean one for a bargain. Forget the overly digital cars , full of sensors, and a ton more things to break. Daily driving one to work w/o a worry.
I know that this was 3 years ago but having seen this video for the 1st time- Great video. I loved my 2000 Z51 coupe (light pewter) that I had for 4 years and yes I did upgrades to it as well. I bought the 2000 after selling a 1995 Z51 C4 which I bought when someone T-boned me in my 1987 Z51 Red metallic C4. I sold the 2000 Z51 to buy a 2003 Z06 (millenium yellow) which has been upgraded to all LED lighting. It also had the heads upgraded for future cam, long tube header's install. The suspension has been upgraded for track use, if so desired. I previously owned a 1970 LT-1 and a 1973 350 coupe Corvette. Do I love Corvettes? YES! At 70 and having raced SCCA for many years I still drive like I did as a young man without all the tire spins and burn outs.

I have a 2001 Z06. It's the only Corvette I've ever had. Even the Z06 with the smaller trunk area still has plenty of room to daily drive. The AC in these cars is bangin! The biggest complaint people have is the interior but that depends massively on the condition. I have worked on beat C5s and the interior was awful. Mine is in great condition though and the interior is great. Same interior but the condition makes a huge difference. The seats in the Z06 are inadequate but they were made to be lighter than the base C5 seats. They are comfortable but trash for performance driving. A 6 speed C5 is gonna be a decent amount quicker than an auto one so that's something to keep in mind. Z06 is a bit quicker than a base C5 going straight and a lot quicker in the mountains or on track. But the Z06 is noiser on the road than the base C5. Both are good cars with great clutch, brake and steering feel
I own a 2002 with a few visual and performance mods in CA. Everybody from soccer moms mini vans to super car Mclarens always want to race my car. My personal favorite was the Viper ACR.
I needed this video today. Was stuck on getting a C6 but C5 is more in my range now. Discounted it initially but it’s apparently a solid Vette. Jay Leno loves his C5 a lot out of all his cars so that’s saying a lot.
I’m not sure about the C5 but the C5 Z06 6 speed manual car is awesome . Hands down the best generation to build as a race car for the money. My C5 Z06 is a built LS3 with 600 hp, built tranny, built rear end. 4 point roll bar, harnesses, super modified suspension. The car is a monster. C6 Z06 wheels, Nitto race tires. I road race, and auto cross it and sometimes use as a daily driver. This car easily destroys hell cats, most 911 Porsche’s, Mustang GT’s, SS Camaro’s etc.. And for a lot less money.

Buy one asap. They are a great investment. I just bought one for $8000. Black convertible saw on Facebook at 3am. N I was at his house at 8am. Miles pretty high. But I'm 61, so who cares. Lol
i have the whole interior out of my C5 now. Cleaning, scrubbinging, dying , all new clips, spacers, extra pads for stiffness and rattles, 50 pounds in Dynamat ( i hated to do it and add the weight , but was so load on the road and the heat in the summer from the front and the center tube, this makes it much much better) . Interiors almost done, 20 hours later. New wheels, tires and and some other tastefull mods incomming, full tune up and tranny refresh already done. Also its a vert, and its gonna need a new top, it will het it, I saved this from the trash a labour of love... Thanks guys gr8 content!

My first corvette was a 2004 C5, and i wish i had been able to keep it. This car looks great in BGM with the tan interior, such a classy color combo. I am glad you addressed the exhaust because i think it will look and sound great once upgraded. This beauty would look great in my garage next to the C7. I'm 61 and own a c3 and c5. I just recently bought the c5 with 160,000 miles, and runs great. But still my 82 vette feels more comfortable. I'm not a fan of those diamond wheels, looks too hip hop, but that's just my opinion. I prefer the 5 star chrome rims.

Last month I bought a 1999 Corvette Base with 79k miles. Already put about 1,000 miles on it! It’s white with a red interior. It’s loaded with options and it’s a targa top. Bought it for $14.5k and feel really good about it. I’m going to make it crazy soon. Can’t wait to see where me and my vette go!
I have a 2001 base C5. Just bought it 2 months ago. Amazing performance but i must warn everyone looking to get one: it will TURN BODIES!! No just heads. Pictures, videos, random people will just be enamored by the design. I’ve driven my buddies c7 and it doesn’t get as much attention as the C5. One time I was just cursing and a wild c8 appeared next to me and even he wanted to take a picture of it. Its just insane
Still relevant? Absolutely! I dont daily drive mine, but I love driving my C5 (same Dark Bowling Green color). So much fun to drive. People who dont know Corvettes dont realize the C5 is over 20 years old. My only complaint is you can't close the hatch without opening the windows or doors.
Have you checked to see if your cabin pressure relief valve is blocked/obstructed? The valve is located on the side wall panel, immediately behind (to the rear of) the driver's side wheel well. All C5s (coupes, verts, FRC/Z06s) have them. The valve frame is made of whitish plastic and is approximately four square inches. When you pull the side carpet back, you should see it. It may be obstructed. Also the Corvette emblem on the rear hatch was placed in the center for when you lower the hatch and just press firmly in that spot to latch your trunk.
I've owned 3 C5s and still have the one I bought new in 2000 when I was 25. Neither of them required the windows or doors to be open to close the hatch/ trunk, but did/do require a firm press on the trunk lid (emblem) to secure. If you are doing the above and its still not latching you could have an issue with the latch mechanism on one side or both. Some have had this problem. After inspecting the latch they determined that it had broken away from its attachment and was lower than usual. Thus it was hindering the catch from securing to the latch. ;)
I had a 1992 c4 corvette and just traded it in for a 2000 c5 and the jump from an LT1 to an LS1 was staggering. It’s been the best car I’ve ever owned and I absolutely love driving it.
Luv the Bowling Green! You cannot beat a C5 in bang-for-buck. Moddability is basically infinite. Your wheel choice is pretty good. The best mod you could have done was a decent stall convertor and shift kit.
Wheel choice is the only downside for c5s. There’s only a handful of diff wheels you can buy that fit even with spacers. I ended up just getting custom forged wheels so I didn’t have a wheel that every other c5 had lol

The C8 is a Corvette for children of all ages.😁 The C5 was relevant when it was born in '97. Continued being relevant into teenagerhood and is remaining relevant now in young adulthood at it's 24 years since being born. THAT tells me when it reaches middle-age and then into it's senior 60s , it will still be relevant. Think about it guys and gals. When it's a senior at 60, the year will be 2057! Most of you watching will be around to welcome in the 2057 new year. Why not prepare now for that New Year's celebration and get yourself a C5 now! You have been around since the very beginning and I appreciate that! The C5 is definitely one of the best Corvettes out there, I would say it's tied with the C6 for "coolness" in my opinion. 😁
I have the 2001 C5 corvette in Bowling Green and the same interior. Modes are the switched out headlights and Billy Boat Exhaust, which make the car sound awesome. Not sure if you are going with that or axle back, but strongly suggest you look at Billy Boat's. My car is a manual convertible, and am seriously considering selling, traffic where I live is harder on manual drivers and enjoyment of sitting in stop and go traffic.
I drove a C5 at a local dealer a couple times recently and wow, what a difference compared to my C4!! Soooooo much faster and smooth!! I'm hoping to win your C5 as it's gorgeous!
At first I didn't think much of your style ! However by the end I was looking for a way to subscribe 😀. Which serves me well for I have a 71,000 mile "99" base coupe with of course has the cursed 4l60-E/ A4 (automatic) most C-5 owners know that we are in the majority by a 3 to 1 yet we are still the step children of the C-5 world and videos that don't insult us are rare! As a guy who owns a C5 Corvette, I'll tell you, it damned sure is. I get paid hourly, and I've got two kids in college, so a C5 was as much as I could afford Corvette wise. To me the newer, bigger horsepower later cars are a draw, that is I might have one when I eventually upgrade. Mine is a 2001 Convertible, it's got 350hp, a 6 speed, and weighs about 3200lbs? I've owned Big Block Chevelles, 13, & 12 second cars, and this feels, like it should go a bottom 13, or top 12 seconds. More horsepower in this would be a little scary, as the number gets higher, and I've come to accept, that even when I thought I was a good driver, I couldn't use all this car has. I do intend to eventually quarter mile it, to satisfy my curiosity, and maybe auto cross it too. If you can't enjoy this car, you're dead.
Im in California, and I absolutely need to win this Corvette. This Corvette is still beautiful as hell now. OMG I just subscribed, now what else do i need to do? (This c5 is the sh#t), and i say that, (in a good way). You should consider styling cars. You have a good eye for style. That color is so pretty, that it almost looks fake. At the end of the video, when this car was sitting in the sun, that color paint job, on top of that gloss, that you did, looked like something, that you can probably see, if you were in an airplane, passing by. I've owned 3 C5s and still have the one I bought new in 2000 when I was 25. Neither of them required the windows or doors to be open to close the hatch/ trunk, but did/do require a firm press on the trunk lid (emblem) to secure.
If you are doing the above and its still not latching you could have an issue with the latch mechanism on one side or both. Some have had this problem. After inspecting the latch they determined that it had broken away from its attachment and was lower than usual. Thus it was hindering the catch from securing to the latch. ;)
I had a 1992 c4 corvette and just traded it in for a 2000 c5 and the jump from an LT1 to an LS1 was staggering. It’s been the best car I’ve ever owned and I absolutely love driving it.

Luv the Bowling Green! You cannot beat a C5 in bang-for-buck. Moddability is basically infinite. Your wheel choice is pretty good. The best mod you could have done was a decent stall convertor and shift kit.
Wheel choice is the only downside for c5s. There’s only a handful of diff wheels you can buy that fit even with spacers. I ended up just getting custom forged wheels so I didn’t have a wheel that every other c5 had lol

The C5 was relevant when it was introduced in 1997 and remained relevant through the subsequent C6 and C7 generations and remains so even while being surrounded with maybe the most popular generation yet - the C8! The C8 is a Corvette for children of all ages.😁
The C5 was relevant when it was born in '97. Continued being relevant into teenagerhood and is remaining relevant now in young adulthood at it's 24 years since being born. THAT tells me when it reaches middle-age and then into it's senior 60s , it will still be relevant. Think about it guys and gals. When it's a senior at 60, the year will be 2057! Most of you watching will be around to welcome in the 2057 new year. Why not prepare now for that New Year's celebration and get yourself a C5 now! Look at all the celebrations you'll be able to enjoy for all the years in between and more than likely for many years afterwards!

I have the 2001 C5 corvette in Bowling Green and the same interior. Modes are the switched out headlights and Billy Boat Exhaust, which make the car sound awesome. Not sure if you are going with that or axle back, but strongly suggest you look at Billy Boat's. My car is a manual convertible, and am seriously considering selling, traffic where I live is harder on manual drivers and enjoyment of sitting in stop and go traffic.
I ended up going with the Borla exhaust. I would have loved for this one to be a manual.
I drove a C5 at a local dealer a couple times recently and wow, what a difference compared to my C4!! Soooooo much faster and smooth!! I'm hoping to win your C5 as it's gorgeous!

As a guy who owns a C5 Corvette, I'll tell you, it damned sure is.
I get paid hourly, and I've got two kids in college, so a C5 was as much as I could afford Corvette wise.
To me the newer, bigger horsepower later cars are a draw, that is I might have one when I eventually upgrade.
Mine is a 2001 Convertible, it's got 350hp, a 6 speed, and weighs about 3200lbs?
I've owned Big Block Chevelles, 13, & 12 second cars, and this feels, like it should go a bottom 13, or top 12 seconds.
More horsepower in this would be a little scary, as the number gets higher,
and I've come to accept, that even when I thought I was a good driver, I couldn't use all this car has.
I do intend to eventually quarter mile it, to satisfy my curiosity, and maybe auto cross it too.
If you can't enjoy this car, you're dead.

Requires a special OBDII connector. Not an original feature onC5’s.

U can make 450-500 whp on these cars for cheap. Combined with the weight they will keep up with modern mustangs and mopars

Heavily depends on miles and condition but yes, the c5 is a great car!

They both have their pros and cons but I think I would take the C6 over the C5 if given the option.
