    Just found one of these on eBay! Amazing watches. Get one while you can, people! Thank you for this excellent video. I'm an old school analog watch guy but these Casio digital watches are superb. So many features that I get to learn about and use. Your content really helps me navigate the murky waters and take advantage of all the features on these excellent time pieces.

    I had one of these in highscool and i would actually predict rain right before it would fall. My friends use to be amazed. Actually mines was a triple sensor, but it had a piece that pertuded out the side.

      Awesome mate, thanks for sharing that! Yeah many triple sensors from Casio these days have a sensor cluster that sticks out of the left side, e.g. PRG-270 which I also reviewed: th-cam.com/video/0BBmfg_rsYo/w-d-xo.html

    Had mine almost 20 years and never a problem. The 4 batteries are different to the newer tough solar watches, and the strap is specific to the case. My PRG270 soooo much smaller, but my GWG about the same size...

      20 years, wow I didn't know they made them that far back! Maybe that was the Triple Sensor Ver 1? These watches do tend to take a beating and keep going - good to hear of your experience!

    Just picked one of these up for 67usd to replace an aging suunto core. Where is the temperature sensor located on this watch? Thats the one thing I didnt like about the core, the temperature sensor was against the wearers wrist so to get an accurate measurement it would need to be removed for 5 ish minutes before the reading was correct.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t recall where the sensor is exactly but same problem with this watch - your wrist temperature makes the reading inaccurate in most circumstances.

    • @TierNoneOperator
      @TierNoneOperator 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PerthWAtch I sort of figured it would be that way. Is the face crystal or some other material? That was another downside to the core. It had a crystal face so it resisted scratches very well but the few that it did get were very noticable and would not polish out.

    What is the difference between protrek and pathfinder????

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      *Pro Trek* is the overall name for these range of watches these days... from my reading it seems that *Pathfinder* is an older sub-line name applied to some watches marketed in the US. Almost all current models have moved on to the name *Pro Trek* although you can still see some remnant of the old name being used in models such as the PAG-240 (internationally it is now the PRG-240). Pro Trek models have the suffix "PR" whilst older Pathfinders have "PA" - you can see that all watches are now designated Pro Trek on the international site: www.casio-intl.com/asia/en/wat/protrek/

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's one on eBay now from Australia, but not sure if will post to you. Why are you keen on this model specifically? Have you considered the updated version PAG240 with solar power and new sensor version?

    • @Bahlawav
      @Bahlawav 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perth WAtch i do like the newer 240 model as well, but this one has a bigger screen to bezel ratio which I appreciate and it seems easier to read when outside. Also the top green graph slot seems bigger than that of the 240 model. It also belonged to someone i was very fond of as a child so it all adds up i guess.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the update - well thought out reasons, and I can sympathize with the last comment which in many senses trumps every other reason. All the best with your search - I think it shouldn't take too long for you to source one. Have you tried posting a "Want to buy" on some forums? I can recommend WatchUSeek.

    Do you know how long is the lifetime of the triple sensor? How long will it work right?

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, that's a good question. A quick search around various forums and user groups suggests to me that the Casio triple sensor modules work essentially for the life of the watch, and for a solar watch that would be many years. There are some reports of inaccurate pressure and compass readings, but these seem to be rare, and readings in newer watches can all be calibrated. This particular watch I have owned for 8 years and have had one battery change - the sensors still all work fine. Regards, Ivan.

    • @oguzhan8612
      @oguzhan8612 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Accuracy of these sensor's not accurate generally barometer and altimeter changeable according to pressure and temperature of weather. Whenever you calibrate it values always change and not accurate but gps is better than the other sensors at least gps has up to 10 degree different than correct direction. I have been using protrek PRG 40 for 10 years all sensors are in good condition.

      @@PerthWAtch Hello. Thank you so much for getting back to me. My initial question was incomplete. I wrote in haste from frustration. I will begin again and attempt to be a bit more clear and again, thank you for responding back to me. I purchased a PAG40 recently. My question - is there a way to turn off the REC - auto feature (the second MODE press), or am I not understanding why I cant, along with the significance of the feature? Could you do a video about all of these many other displays? I'm finding the watch to be a bit complicated. The online instruction manuals are a bit vague. Thank you for your time.
