    Hey team! What are your thoughts on the Galaxy A52 5G? Let me know below! Also, don't forget to check out RhinoShield's incredible cases and use code “SAM52” for 20% off for the next week (10% afterwards): bit.ly/SamBeckman-A52

      It's interesting because I purchased the A72 about 3 months ago, and I thought that the 5G version would be better because of the better processor ( which it's not available in my country, well the region haha). And so far I have experienced some lag in basic stuff like scrolling down for the notification settings, changing between apps, as you said it's a bad optimization of the software, and also a couple of times the camera app crashed. I gotta say that I'm not a fan of the home screen and box applications so I use Nova launcher.
      But putting aside those software issues (that probably could be fixed) I love the OLED screen, the battery (it's bigger than the a52), the cameras are decent.

      @DANIEL CHUKWUKERE no software update yet. After I purchased my device, I contacted the customer support and apparently the A72 in my region will be updated every 3 or 4 months. In this moment the last update I have is the June patch. Wich was the only update I've had since I purchased it on mid June.

      Hi how well does it vibrate?
      I have it for a week and I keep missing calls and notifications when it's on vibrate on my desk at work.
      I still have a week to return it. This might be a dealbreaker for me. Otherwise, I really like it.
      Another weird thing is that there is a menu for vibration intensity, but when I get inside there is no option to control the vibration for phone calls and notifications, only for touch feedback. The user's manual says that it should be there, but for some reason it doesn't show up on my phone. (I have a US unlocked version of this phone). The Samsung's tech support chat wasn't very helpful. I'll go to the local service center tomorrow as a last ditch effort to improve the vibration.

    Had to quickly buy this phone after my Note 8 took a dump. Expected a huge downgrade and the sales rep even told me not to expect much. But damn. This phone is great. Longer battery life than my note 8, better camera, no noticeable performance issues. The high end flagship phones definitely feel better to type with on the keyboard. That is the ONLY noticeable difference. 120 hz screen??? Im super pleased and may go "mid-ranged" from now on.

  • @MentleGan

    On the software optimization thing, Samsung has always been known to do this and it became quite apparent with the 2017 lineup of the J series, where custom software based on flagships were used to unlock the fancy stuff which worked absolutely fine for the most part on the more budget phones.

  • @SetusTeknow
    @SetusTeknow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    A52 is still a solid option; it looks good, feels good, specs and cameras are good and it's Samsung after all. But where it doesn't appeal is places like India where the A52 is launched without 5g. If you want a solid phone which gets the job done right today, get the a52 but if you're getting a phone for the long term, consider the Oneplus Nord 2.

    • @michaelm7726
      @michaelm7726 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does India not have the A52 5G? Isn't that why samsung came out with 5g variant for about $150 more the the 4g? 5g has the 120 refresh rate vs 90 refresh, if that's not quick enough, then adjust some of the transition settings to make it faster, if that's not enough, try paying more for higher grade phone that will satisfy your needs and meet your standards.

    I have the Samsung A52s 5G and the preformance was great on Android 11 but, after each update since then, the phone's preformance has worsend.
    Every cheaper samsung device has had the same problem, after each update, preformance gets worse.
    If samsung made better efforts to optimise software on the cheaper phones, this would be the perfect phone in my opinion.
    Also, I find it strange that Dex isn't on this phone, but is on older, less powerful phones like the S8.

I didn't want to bother fixing it I decided to buy a new phone, not really looking for a high end one and also I don't really like cheap phone so I think I'll get this one. I know enough about phones that tells me this is not the best and amazing phone you can have but all I can about is being enough and doing the things I need it to do.

  • @MiguelMiguel-sk2xi
    @MiguelMiguel-sk2xi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Doesn't make sense that you're comparing the picture quality or what it can do with higher priced phones. That's why they cost more, because you pay for more features. Why don't you compare it to similarly priced phones. That'll tell you if it's acceptable at that range.

    • @sambeckman
      @sambeckman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you compare it to the similarly priced Pixel 5a or far cheaper Pixel 4a, the A52 5G gets blown out of the water.

    • @michaelm7726
      @michaelm7726 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@sambeckman in your video, you initially compared it to more premium samsung devices like s21's as far as for picture quality. Sure Google pixel is comparable in price but does it have 120 refresh rate? Or expandable storage? Headphone jack? So you can't really say it blows it out of the water. There's things one phone may have better feature than the other, it's buyers choice. Miguel's comment just pointed out that the comparison should be amongst like priced phones, and within it, how's does the feature rate. As a consumer, we want the best value for our money, whether we pay $1000 or $500 and rely on videos like yours to be objective and not subjective to a brand either way.

    Samsung neglects lots of details which end up having a serious bash on the user experience.

    So Nord 2 is better? Even it has no IP67, 3 years software updates a obly 90Hz display? Can decide between them. A52s or Nord 2? Poco F3 was also in my list but the camera is not so good.

    I’m looking to switch from an IPhone XR to this phone. I’ve always leaned towards iPhones but now I don’t really mind as both are capable of what I need and want in a phone. Personally I strongly preferred getting this phone as the screen is bigger than an iPhone 11 or 12 and the capability is grand. I’m hoping this will be a good long term phone and won’t be something I regret.

    Its a hardware issue or software issue 🥺

    I totally appreciate that he made this video on 21:9 aspect ration instead of 18:9/2:1 like those big TH-camrs do. I prefer the 21:9 cuz it doesn't cut so much of the content when you are trying to watch it.
    About this A52 5G I'm still a little bit confused as to why Samsung decided to do a 5G version of this phone but not a 5G version of the A72. Maybe that is really like when you are in the market for a cheaper midrange phones. You really couldn't have it all. If you want bigger screen, drop the 5G but if you want 5G and 120Hz the screen size will be compromised. For heaven's sake, why can't Samsung just make an A72 5G variant, right?!

  • @DanielClear2
    @DanielClear2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your phone is *extremely* laggy. The regular A52 flies through the UI and hardly hiccups. That's one problematic software.
    Always on display transition is disabled due to optical fingerprint display and lack of dynamic refresh rate. The screen goes off to switch modes (to save battery and to get ready for scanning). Otherwise, you'll be blinded with a full-bright screen.
    - Other brands do this as well. Google offers Android an option so you can enable this while building it. So it's not just an arbitrary software limitation.

    Brilliant upload Sam. I feel like dancing around the kitchen with my wife to that background music, class.
    I've never bought a mid-ranger, am still rocking my trusty old S8+. (I'm not a gamer so devices with me tend to last longer 🤣)
    The A52 5G intrigues me, but it's beyond me why the A72 isn't 5G compatible as I reckon I would prefer that out of the two.

    I have also found updates hit and miss on my S20U and ATM I am suffering poor battery life and dodgy RAM management. I had been a long time absent from Samsung after dire times with the S4 and S5 but all these great Samsung reviews by YT pushed me to give them one more chance with the S20U? Well needless to say, that will be the last Samsung upgrade for a while and with Huawei lost to US sanctions, maybe the Pixel 6 will at last not be a Google flop? Anyway, the S20U would have been ditched after six months, but it was Exynos and no one wanted it without a massive £600 loss, and even Samsung are being tight with trade-ins as they do not want to be stuck with dumpster Exynos S20’s! So knowing my history with the so-called flagship S20U, all I can do is wish the best of luck for buyers of the A52 5G and I think you are going to need all the luck you can get!

    One thing also that doesn't convince me on this phone or something I find poorly done is the oddly low-placed optical inscreen fingerprint sensor which sort of a bummer like the one shown on the video. Honestly it would've been nicer if Samsung decided to use Gen1 Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor which is the one used on S10-S20 series (except S10e which has a side mounted fingerprint sensor & S10 Lite which has an optical inscreen fingerprint sensor which is terrible TBH), Note10 and Note20 series (except Note10 Lite which also has a slow optical inscreen sensor). But I guess that is part of the cost cutting measures Samsung took to be able to lower the price of this phone. But honestly I hope the next A series can use a mote sophisticated Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor even just the 1st generation which was released by QualComm in 2019 which would really make sense for the Premium A series price range nowadays.

      Xiaomi is playing Samsung at their own game by flooding the market to try and beat Samsung down, at least reduce their margins to as low as they can and maybe drive them away? I think competitors have seen what a brutal company Samsung has been to the Android market and Xiaomi for one are taking a stand and beat them hopefully, at least outside of the US market where Samsung has killed off the competition and now US consumers are facing the most restricted market in the world?
      There are many better phones than the A52 5G but where this video is aimed, the US, there is very little choice, but here in Europe there are multiple choices that will make the A52 look meh? Not a bad phone but quite generic with little to recommend it apart to attract the Samsung fan base? Get the Nord2, Poco, Realme, etc, the list is long?
