      Hi @@johnwick-tr7wv , thanks for watching and commenting 😎 Photochromic lenses will provide UV protection which is very important and will have great short term and longe term effects. In terms of the cooling effect, the feeling will vary from person to person but they should definitely make vision on a sunny day more comfortable and relaxing. Hope this helps 😎

    I have always had to have photochromic lenses, I wear my glasses everyday and when I have to go run errands I just don’t like going between putting on glasses and putting on sunglasses, so it’s just easier to have the transition lenses in my opinion.

    @JT-gi8rx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I’d like them if they turn completely clear, and quickly, when going inside, and when going outside they turn completely dark and quickly too. Seems like they never get super dark and never get super clear, and transition slowly, from the ones I’ve seen other people having.

    • @precisionopticseyewear
      @precisionopticseyewear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi JT. You mentioned some key points here. These are some of the reasons that some love them whilst some do not. Unfortunately there is a bit of a trade off with what you are after. Lenses are available that go much darker and quicker, but the draw back is that there is always a very slight residual colour, even when clear. Have you tries Xtractive transitions before or standard transitions?

    I’m thinking of getting some prescriptions for riding glasses, I had a pair in 1998-1999 and liked them but they took forever to transition back to clear…I hear the technology is much quicker now, definitely want something for sun protection while riding without needing to carry 2 pair.

    Hi, im wonering if is it possible to tint a photochomic lens? I'd actually like my lenses to be a little tinted (as lightly, to be suitable even for night time), i also prefer it to get darker in sunshin. So i think i'd like to lightly tint my photochromic lenses. Is it possible or a good idea (for somebody who cant afford a handfull of eyeglasses for different evironments)?

      Hi Asif, thanks for watching and for your comment. Yes, this is something your eyewear provider should be able to do with no problem at all. This is a simple order from the information you have given. The anti reflective coating will be very useful, especially when applied to the inside of the lens, as this will help reduce the internal reflections that you can sometimes get with sunglasses lenses. I hope this helps.

    Hi Colin, in my country there are optics that sell photochromic lenses and also "photochromic AB" lenses which stands for "photochromic and anti blue ray". If all photochromic lenses naturally block blue ray / blue light, why the existence of "photochromic AB" lenses? Are they regular photochromic lenses coated with additional layer of blue ray blocking properties? Thanks!

    • @precisionopticseyewear
      @precisionopticseyewear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Ronald, thanks for your question. So really alot of this will come down to the brand and manufacturer. A brand like Transitions with their Xtractive photochromic lenses will be UVA & UVB protected.
      The lenses you are speaking about "photochromic AB" could be protected against UVA and UVB maybe rather than just Blue light spectrum.
      The whole blue light protection side of things is still a bit of a grey area in some elements, but just make sure whatever you are being supplied and are paying for, that is actually the end product you end up with.
      I know that some brands that make a photochromic lens don't guarantee a safe level of UV protection on any spectrum, so a UV filter still has to be applied to this.
      Some various indexes (materials) of lenses have UV protection incorporated in the lens itself, so this is another to keep in mind.
      So really, in answer to your question, not all photochromic lenses offer 100% UVA/UVB/Blue light protection. Some brands will, some brands won't, others may offer more or less.
      Most Optical suppliers or wherever you are being supplied your eyewear should have a UV reader to check and clarify this for you. Hope this helps 🙂

      @@precisionopticseyewear You're right.. These type of lenses are sold as premium in asia, but in my experience most of them worth nothing. We can tell whether things like anti fog coating, photochromic, and polarisation have any effect or not, but there are no noticeable benefits (if any) from "anti blue-ray" lenses.
      Nowadays clear lenses that offers UV protection are marketed with (or synonymously as) "anti blue-ray" often avalable only as top tier, while years ago UV protection are available in mid tier lenses. So it's more of a gimmick to spike price and force customer to upgrade.
      I've been wearing glasses from early age and in my experience the best way to reduce eye strain is to get a properly fitted glasses. Our face and eyes are not exactly straight in relation to the frame and of course the lenses

    How to check whether lens is blue cut photocromic lens?

    • @precisionopticseyewear
      @precisionopticseyewear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can only really check the amount of UVA and UVB light that is blocked with special equipment like i have in my Lab, it measures how much UV passes through the lens. Literally impossible to tell any other way. Hope this helps.

    Had cataract surgery last year and recently had photochromic lens put in a good frame with a prescription to tune my vision up when driving. They came back but are not sharp when sitting on my face but it I hold them where I can cant each lens up about 10 degrees or so the image sharpens up in each lens--each lens has the opposite direction of cant of the lens but about the same degree required. Do you have any idea what might cause this?

    • @precisionopticseyewear
      @precisionopticseyewear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's really hard to tell without all the info and seeing you. Changes in prescription can take time anyway, but even with steady vision, things such as the angle the lenses are sitting can make a difference depending upon your new prescription. I'd recommend going back and seeing them to see if they can make the right adjustments to keep things set in the right place, let me know what they say and how you get on, Colin

    • @precisionopticseyewear

      Hi, thanks for watching and for your question. From what I know of, nearly all photochromic lenses block blue light and other spectrum too. Some certain brands will state the effectiveness of their products blue light blocking capabilities. Worth asking to double check, photochromic lenses were initially designed to block UV light from the sun, but the lenses do offer protection from blue light yes (this will vary no doubt from brand to brand) hope this helps.
