The mistake that GMs made with Faried was that they put too much weight on his great USA basketball performance against lesser competition. He never looked that good ever again.
Well he was a very lumbering, slow footed center. And though he had the rebounding, defensive skills along with the physical strength of traditional big men, Roy Hibbert had no jumpshot. And while he was a focal point on those early 2010s Pacers teams, the years 2013-2015 was when we saw the rise of the stretch-five especially with Steph Curry making so many three pointers on high efficiency. And when the Warriors proved that small ball can win a title, NBA scouts started demanding that big men need to be mobile along with their offensive and defensive skills. Just look at guys like Giannis, Joel, and Serge Ibaka. Not only are they big and strong, but they are mobile and have decent jumpshots. Even Blake Griffin averaged 36% from 3 in Detroit.
To be fair to Faried, he was improved in his short stint in Houston. He improved his defence and shot 35% from 3. I think he still has it in him to be a decent small ball 5 in the NBA right now. I think it has more to do with his age and teams wanting a younger player

27yo vs 31yo. Harrell still has the potential to develop whereas Faried is too old to adapt. Although if Harrell won't change his playstyle, I'm not going to be surprised if he will have the same fate as Faried.
3:33 as a Thunder fan I almost broke my phone dude was doing great even with Carmelo ,but the injury messed everything up the thunder would’ve gone deep in the playoffs if he never got injured 🤕
Bynum was also becoming a head case in LA by getting technical fouls, ejections and dirty fouls. So that didn't help his case to stay. Coming from a Lakers fan. The sad one for me is Ty Lawson he was one of my favorite point guards in the league. I was a fan of him coming out of college. He kind of reminded me of Nick Van Exel. Flashy passing, decent shooting and good defender.
I can't believe it's been 4-5 years since Andre Roberson was actually healthy and playing. It feels like 2-3 seasons tbh. At least he made 35M in salaries but man, at age 30 and without a proper jump shot his NBA career is all but over.
Hibbert did not struggle against the Heat. He straight up dominated their small lineup. He had numbers far surpassed his regular season numbers. In the 2013 playoffs he averaged 22.1 ppg, and 10.4 rpg. In the 2014 playoffs against the Heat. It was in 2014 where he suddenly declined for no reason. He even multiple games playing a lot of minutes with 0 rebounds.
what about Josh Howard? Dude was on the verge of being a 20 ppg scorer but then just disappeared. Also devin harris was an all star and then was never heard from again
Harris got traded for Deron Williams (NJ to UTA) and was never the same after that. He just didn't look like the same guy in 2011-12. Ironically Josh Howard was on that Jazz team as well - a strange mix of young and vets, a young coach (Ty Corbin) and a franchise going through turmoil (for them) - owner had passed away, coaching legend (Sloan) had exited the year before after a feud with D-Will, Kirilenko and Okur gone, and their identity was just off. 36-30 record reflected that and a sweep at the hands of the Spurs.
Kenneth Faried also had chronic asthma, so he was limited in the amount of total minutes he could play. Even when he was a starter he rarely played a full 30 minutes because he played so hard that it would start causing him breathing problems. When faried got moved to the bench at first, he was actually still playing the same amount of minutes for a while. A huge reason he never developed properly was his asthma
Anderson was doing so well the season he got injured. Starting to shoot 3s in a consistent basis. If it were the injury, his story will be way different now.
Terrence Ross ended Kenneth's career. Oh and as a Heat fan you need to add Hassan Whiteside to this list's part two. Mr. "I just want to get my 2K rating up".
I have seen Faried on his stint with CSKA Moscow in the Euroleague. Looked completely lost and had very low basketball IQ often trying to force his way to the paint rather than looking for a wide open teammate.
I think that could be some truth. He lost focus in basketball that first year he was traded to Lakers. He stopped training as hard and got out of shape probly cause he was depressed from it.

Maybe you have already done a video on this, but would like to see you do a video on players that were late bloomers. How you gonna leave out the infamous "Chinese women got cakes on the low" ig post that got Ty Lawson banned in the china league?😂😂
Bruh all the racial slurs were thrown at Ty Lawson for that lol
What does 'cakes in the low' mean?
@@ThreeEyedJuan Cakes ON the low means they have bigger asses than people think
@@1865magicman Hahaha lawson, just banggin' in Chinese casinos.
Kenneth Faried’s short time with the rockets was actually pretty productive and a great energy guy off the bench kinda like Montrezl Harrell before Montrezl Harrell also I make videos as well
Kenneth Faried would be fit in GSW IMO 🤷♂️
You make a good point and then self promote 😑
@@dr.dragonballz4865 it's all good 👍
@@dr.dragonballz4865 I think he just wants to get some traction on TH-cam honestly his vids are pretty good
Gotta chill with the promo bro, trying to capitalize off of other peoples work
Hi im fron the philippines and ive stumble upon your channel few months back. And ive been watching your clips regularly. Thank you for all the HONEST information you always provide your fans. More power and god bless
And always happy to see a Saturday morning video from you!!
You know you’re young as hell, when you call Kenneth Faried “Back in the day”
i thought Farried will make a comeback in houston..he even shoot 3's there occassionally..showing that he is willing to work on his game unlike before..
him that time vs Harell this season, he's better..i think
I still have yet to see a difference in play styles between Kenneth Faried and Montrezl Harrell. Did Faried piss someone higher up off or something?
harrell didnt play much in the lakers suns series
@@hoosthere yeah but he still will be a key piece somewhere else probably. Whoever picks him up will probably use him way more I mean the guy is a 6 man of the year
@@hesomelo5910 yeah maybe the Mavs they could use some toughness at the center position
Harrell is a LOT better offensively, not to mention not as poor defensively. They're similar in general terms, but Harrell is a lot more polished, not to mention younger.
27yo vs 31yo. Harrell still has the potential to develop whereas Faried is too old to adapt. Although if Harrell won't change his playstyle, I'm not going to be surprised if he will have the same fate as Faried.
3:33 as a Thunder fan I almost broke my phone dude was doing great even with Carmelo ,but the injury messed everything up the thunder would’ve gone deep in the playoffs if he never got injured 🤕
no worries dude. okc got 35 draft picks. Is sam presti a genius or what.
Faried would be a great pick and roll/rim catching small ball center for any team, and his three pointer is greatly improved.
I remember Farreid as a monster in the FIBA tournament
Kenneth Faried also had chronic asthma, so he was limited in the amount of total minutes he could play. Even when he was a starter he rarely played a full 30 minutes because he played so hard that it would start causing him breathing problems. When faried got moved to the bench at first, he was actually still playing the same amount of minutes for a while. A huge reason he never developed properly was his asthma
I feel bad for Roy Hibert the big men of old got cut there’s some still in the league
Andre Drummond is the next guy it’s going to happen too. Give it 2-3 years tops
@@Loganbub if he wont have a decent run next season, hes probably done
He wasn just too slow
No actual offensive skill and too slow lateraly
Traditional big man: *Rudy Gobert, Bam Adebao, Deandre Ayton, Giannis, Zion Williamson, Clint Capela, Andre Drummond.*
Faried is Montrez Harrell today.. Energy at undersized position
U guys are just saying that because they both have dreads😂
Not to forget both are a liability in defense and have no post moves
Nah bruh. Fareid was better than trez but with the rebounding of mark evans and ben wallace lol
Still waiting on "How good was Michael Finley"
Or how good was Derrick Coleman
@@adkjani1good one
or how good was Laponzo ellis.
I see Mike Finley quite often. He plays pick up games at this Jewish center in San Antonio. He real cool
In terms of Roy Hibbert, there are rumours that Paul George picked up his girl and he lost his motivation (dunno details).
That's kind of a dumb excuse though
I think that could be some truth. He lost focus in basketball that first year he was traded to Lakers. He stopped training as hard and got out of shape probly cause he was depressed from it.
I think that was not true according to reports but idk. Hibbert had one good year in 2013 and that was it.
@@bigdave9188 then maybe you should realise that basketball player's still humans too, with emotions and feelings
And for them, basketball isn't everything
So maybe next time, try to be more rational

Every rookie coming into the league should have to watch this video. It comes and goes fast. For every Vince Carter that get 24 years there are these guys.
10:22 Bynum with that depression perm 😂
Same thing I said
Trez kinda going to the Manimal route. Hope he bounces back next year.
How good was mike miller please andy reply
God I hope Andy does this next , and I would love to see Mike Miller 💯💯💯💯💯💯
That would be awesome
Mike Miller was one of the better players in what is considered one of the worst drafts in NBA History
Uh oh will TJ Warren the bubble goat be in this list in the future?
Tj warren was always a bucket but in the bubble he was looking like a top 5 player in the league Rondo was shooting 3s good Bro that shit was an open gym
Hell no lol. TJ has always been a good scorer. Maybe not the 25+ppg guy in the bubble but he can easily give you 20 a night efficiently
@@khalis6973 TJ.Warren has only 2 seasons in which he played over 50 games. He gets injured too often.
Having Kenneth Faired there in the picture wit stud is wild... 🤦🏾♂️
😂😂😂
he was a stud back in the olympics
Love the channel man. Videos bring me back!
Faried was the original Montrezl Harrell. Same exact game with the same exact limitations!
in the last two years, the media only talks about how teams chocked or failed to win against the nuggets, its like denver never won on their own merit
Great point. Denver just dispatched of Portland and it's all about Dame. Great player but his team got beat!
Johnathon Simmons was hella solid for the spurs but we’ve completely forgotten about him
Where is he now?
@@thatoneguywho3434 he’s playing in china
Yup got greedy chasing the money left sa and never reached his potential he should have stayed in sa
Kenneth Fareid was also making threes in houston. Weird stroke but i'll still take it tho. Houston already had so many 3 point shooters and would've used him in the paint but they also had capela and nene but i think he's trying to change his game to adopt with the current nba play style. Well, he should've gone to another team which was play off contender back then that needed bigs(not brooklyn LOL)
i feel like demarcus cousins would fit in here too
I agree, but he didn't vanish. Injuries were the reason.
Realist Reality like all the players on this “vanished” due to injuries lol did you even watch the video
@@ericflores-moreno7558 Larry Sanders quit, Hibbert fell off because the NBA changed play style. Did you watch?
Realist Reality ngl man I commented that while I was listening to him talk about Roberson injuries I’m still watching the video rn
Realist Reality ok done the video and Roberson, Bynum and Thomas all vanished because of injuries so I definitely think that cousins would fit in here
Kevin Martin fell off too… he was the leading scorer for Houston but did nothing for okc
They didn’t really pass the ball to dude
He was good as the 6th man with te thunder. He averaged like 14 points off the banch with pretty good efficiency. People just overlooked him because of durant, westbrook, and ibaka
Fareids biggest problem was his attitude. He thought he was a super star and wanted to be treated like one.
Yep
And Michael Malone got rid of him quick fast and in a hurry. And the Nuggets never looked back.
I always start my Saturday mornings watching these videos
Andre Roberson man. I miss him so much...
You gotta feel for Thomas man. Before that injury dude was electric. One hip injury and never the same. Would have loved to see how he did without the injury
Sanders was literally the most broken shit in 2k14
I feel bad for Bynum who was the no.2 best center in 2012, got 2 rings with Kobe and was thought to be the next big thing in LA, but injuries and his attitiude made it here as no.2 as well instead.
Thought of Norris Cole right when I saw the alert for this vid
or Chalmers on that matter. lol
Kemba will be on this list soon
Lakers wanted to release Bynum after the 2011 season, he was purposely hitting other players just to take em out.
Kenneth Faried came to the league like 10 years too earlier he was a stud to in his prime one of the first elite small ball big man rebounders
I think 10 years too late... I think Faried’s off the bench energy and rebounding could have been used better in late 90s early 2000s
Andray Blatche was phenominal too
Maybe you have already done a video on this, but would like to see you do a video on players that were late bloomers. Like former lottery picks that people thought were busts or late picks that took some time to develop and turned into solid players and maybe made an all star team after the age of 25 or so.
Remember when shaq compares Andrew Bynum to prime Dwight Howard like that just crazy
that was just Shaq being biased because he didn’t like D12
@@drip8052 Yeah that is true

That’s different from the video
This video means players that had a good season or 2 then after that they fell off
Nonsense
I remember Isaiah Thomas. As a Suns fan I really liked him that year with the Suns. But the Suns had no clue what they were doing, they had Thomas, Dragic AND Bledsoe. They decided to please Bledsoe and traded Thomas to Boston and Dragic to the Heat.
1:49 is where the video actually starts
Kenneth Faried was the dude to trade for in 2k13. Him and Dragic were my go-to players to rebuild a franchise
Wtg Andy hoops for not sounding like a cocaine addict like others....
That is honestly so true 😂
Kenneth Faried was montrezl Harrell before montrezl Harrell lol!
Roy definitely didn't struggle against the Heat.. in fact, he dominated against them. The Hawks were a different story tho.
he struggled against heat in 2014 ecf, he was exposed against the lower heat lineups and averaged 10ppg with 41%fg including game 4 where he finished the game with 0 points lol
@@iuri9161 I’ll get you banned from TH-cam for laughing and making fun of Hibbert for going scoreless in game 4. You are not allowed to laugh at slow footed centers having trouble to stay versatile over small lineups and having their rim protection look useless to a bunch of small line ups.
Idk why I get such a nostalgia feeling with your jazz intro music.
Day 7 of asking Andy to do a video of Mark Eaton, the 7'4" friendly giant
He died recently
