D.Will was great. He just wasn't the same after his ankle injuries. Those ankle injuries really sapped away his quickness and any athleticism he had. That only made his defense much worse.

thats kinda unfair about Okafor and MCW. like you said, both had good rookie years but then fell off, but after their rookie years, they were traded or not given opportunity again. so how can they succeed if not given same opportunity that they succeeded in? both of them, you give them minutes, and opportunity, showed they can shine. but both never got opportunity after their rookie years.

OJ Mayo was a bad apple so to speak, all sorts of issues in a tainted college career. He gat the reputation as a head case. All the talent in the world, but lights out nobody home.

Fun Fact: Brandon Jennings was traded for Brandon Knight back in 2013. Brandon Knight also involve in 3-Team trade including Michael Carter-Williams back in 2015. All of these bums traded to each other.

I think OJ Mayo is a prime example of a guy who simply had too much success and hype early in life, so when he got to the NBA he didn't have some kind of insane drive and work ethic to improve. That's one thing that makes Lebron's career remarkable, he could have easily been OJ Mayo. There's never been a more hyped player than Lebron and somehow he lived up to it.

I feel like some of the blame for why some of these guys didn't get better has to fall on the teams for not developing them correctly. Like for Okafor, he might always be a bad defensive player, but surely someone out there could use a post player who consistently shoots around 60%. Teach him how to pass out of the post and he can be an offensive spark plug for 10 minutes a game.

Knight and Jennings had suffered injuries before declining. And Williams left to a whole new Team one of the worst at the time. That paired with his ankle injuries made his stats drop. Might as well throw I'm Greg Oden and Grant Hill while your at it.

Tyreke Evans should have stayed as a PG. So good getting to the bucket, too strong for PGs to guard him but not a good shooter to play the 2. As a Kings fan I feel he could have had a better overall career at the point.

I think Dwyane wade should be the poster child for peaking too early. Won an nba championship and finals mvp in only his third year in the nba and at the age of 24. Was on his way to be the greatest SG of all time but instead injuries and his unselfishness on the court sort of made him became a sidekick and 2nd option to lebron, during what should've been wade's prime years in the nba. Although he had decent stats for a perennial all star, he was never regarded as the same again like when he won his first championship in 2006.
