Gorgeous Dutch style aquarium! You have a will of steel for not putting shrimp in that tank - bravo for sticking to the experiment! You've provided perfect inspiration for my 10g I desperately need to re-scape. I likely won't go as red as you have there, but will certainly be on the lookout for some of those species - thanks for the list, the assessment, the video, and for just being who you are. 💜
Wow, thank you for your comment :) I really appreciate the support. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, going FULL RED with plants is a bit too much, but having them mixed with green is just perfect :)
Once I've tried red only plants tank, but didn't like em. it's kind of an eyesore to look at. I love watching them grow though. your hygrophyla sunset could be misidentified with regular H. polysperma
This looks great! I think you got different variety of H. polysperma by accident. I have H. polysperma in my fish tanks and it changes color to orange-brown under strong light.
Thank you! It was quite fast, I make very big water change only for 7-10 days. And then slowly go down with frequency. So after 3 weeks, I already do them once a week, and then less than that.
Substrate is everything. It's much more important than liquid ferts. If you setup your substrate well at the beginning - your life is MUCH easier with almost every tank. Keep it rich, keep it thick ;)
I'm curious why water changes would be necessary here? Since the nutrients should be relatively stabel and without inhabitants "polluting" the water I don't really see a reason- besides that a beautiful tank- would have loved some shrimps in there with a high contrast- maybe blue ones
I was doing this to keep avoiding algae and occasional "disturbance" of water and substrate. I was a bit worried about cyanobacteria appearing because we have nutrients, strong light and ZERO water movement (no filter). Those water changes just kept me calm :P
Don't know yet. I was planning to keep/test it max for 5 months. But it was going very well so I made a video after 6. Now it's still going strong so I have no reason to change anything :)
I spend more of $1000 dollars in tiger lotus in my aquarium and “WAS” amazing One day in aquarium club I buy live-dafnia (live food) and in this bag of dafnia I introduce SCUDS and in 2 months all my tiger lotus died the scuds eat all of them 😭 , how I kill this scuds ? Please help 🙏
That is rough :/ They are very difficult to remove. Do you have any very fast fish in there? Like Tetras? Bettas and other slow fish are not able to hunt them. But FAST fish might reduce their population.
Yes. But not in a tank of this size, if this is what you are asking. I recently made a Betta tank, you can check it here: th-cam.com/video/eP6G2HvC3LE/w-d-xo.html
@AquascapingCube It's pretty rough, the only thing I've been able to keep alive is anubias, cabomba and hygrophila polysperma but even then they're just sort of holding on and not really thriving, even with root tabs and ferts
Nano planted tank with red plants with no CO2 and no filter? YES! it worked better then expected! Any thoughts?
Tank looks great without CO2! Great colors! 😮
Thanks! 👍 Yes it was a really good result. Strong light helped a lot!
Great experiment!!
Congrats. The aquarium looks fantastic!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that!
Very good and detailed analysis. Thank you for great summary!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :)

NIce! Very detailed, I liked it!
Thanks a lot!
I love all your aquascapes especially when u break down the process from the water changes to the added nutrients process. Great work 😊
Thanks so much! It's very nice to hear :)
Wow! Incredible result for a low tech tank!
Thank you! I think so too! :)
Amazing video and details. Loved the layout grid!
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you!
What a great experiment! I will put this to good use in my upcoming aquarium builds!
Thank you! I'm glad it was useful :)
Very nice Video and Experiment 💚👌🏼
Glad to hear that! Thank you!
It looks just perfect ❤
Thank you! :)
Great video
Thank you!
Brilliant 🤩
Thank you!
did you replant the clippings back into this tank?
Only few times for only few plants. It quickly became too dense to replant and there was simply no space for new stems.
Once I've tried red only plants tank, but didn't like em. it's kind of an eyesore to look at. I love watching them grow though.
your hygrophyla sunset could be misidentified with regular H. polysperma
I know what you mean. There is some truth to that. In general red plants look best when surrounded by green plants and some hardscape.
@@AquascapingCubeYep, like too many variegated plants (in a garden) great used as accents otherwise a dogs dinner (regurgitated!) ✌️
great video!!
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Beautiful. I wish I could afford an expensive high end light like that.
Thank you!
This looks great! I think you got different variety of H. polysperma by accident. I have H. polysperma in my fish tanks and it changes color to orange-brown under strong light.
Thank you! Yes, it's possible with Polysperma, someone else also suggested that. But a bit of green is good for this tank. It was getting too red :)
I love the tank, it looks great. After how long did you switch from 50% daily water changes to once every 10-12 days water changes?
Thank you! It was quite fast, I make very big water change only for 7-10 days. And then slowly go down with frequency. So after 3 weeks, I already do them once a week, and then less than that.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Damn I need your planted tank skills😂
This one doesn't require skills, just a bit of work :)
Sir can you plz share details of soil and root tabs plz
Soil: ControSoil. Root tabs: Tetra Crypto tabs
And here I am , with my ludwigia red , leaves fallin, with lights with 8 hours and complete fertilizers.

And blue shrimp? Great choice!
Where do you get your plants from? I like that you can get small portions to your liking.
I got them on local auctioning website (allegro.pl). They are basically small portions taken from in-vitro cups.
How long or how many months you wait to make the final verdict? 🤔
Don't know yet. I was planning to keep/test it max for 5 months. But it was going very well so I made a video after 6. Now it's still going strong so I have no reason to change anything :)

Shrims and some special fishes
That is rough :/ They are very difficult to remove. Do you have any very fast fish in there? Like Tetras? Bettas and other slow fish are not able to hunt them. But FAST fish might reduce their population.
Can male betta live happily alone all his life? 🤔
Yes. But not in a tank of this size, if this is what you are asking. I recently made a Betta tank, you can check it here: th-cam.com/video/eP6G2HvC3LE/w-d-xo.html
My tap water would dissolve these plants like xenomorph spit 😢
Haha, great comparison :) Is your water really that bad?
@AquascapingCube It's pretty rough, the only thing I've been able to keep alive is anubias, cabomba and hygrophila polysperma but even then they're just sort of holding on and not really thriving, even with root tabs and ferts
