I once rented an Expedition Max to drive my family from Salt Lake City to Yellowstone to Phoenix (3300 miles in 10 days). It was excellent but I can't imagine would need such a beast on a daily basis unless they had like 6 kids or something
It's not the people, if you have six people the minivan makes more sense. An expedition is for people and towing. This thing is perfect travel trailers
It just needs the Powerboost hybrid powertrain with the onboard invertor. A height adjustable 4 corner air suspension that levels heavy loads and trailers would be spectacular.
@@jiggnfmTahoe has pretty much everything the Lincoln does, that’s Ford’s problem. They can’t play the same “we saved that for the luxury brand” game when most their sales will be Expedition. Navigator sales won’t come close to it. *gm* has a different story going.
@usa1mac Nah, a diesel manual would be stupid. Modern diesels have far too complex, expensive to fun and unreliable emissions systems to make them worth it. That's why the GM suvs are already discontinuing the i6 diesel that they came out with in 2021. Also virtually nobody wants a manual in a soccer mom suv, it wouldn't be able to take as much power and a 6 speed manual still gets lower mpg than a 10 speed auto. Also the powerboost hybrid has wayyyy more HP and torques than the small ecodiesels. I however would *LOVE* a brand new Ford Excursion based on the current Super Duty lineup, add a full rear air suspension like the Ram 2500 offers with its coil spring rear end, and it'd be perfection.
Will they though? Because the Explorer is doing well for them (three row midsized crossover), and so is the Bronco (offroad SUV), and the Everest fits in both categories. If they eventually do, will they build it in the US or Mexico? Will it eventually replace the Explorer if that happens?
Love it when you give us that third row seat view. As a relatively new father with a growing family, this is the most important feature to me and your channel is the best place to see this! Hope you refresh that third row video from last year with the new models in a few months.
Alex, I never thought I would see the classic 40/20/40 second row beaten but I think this 33.333/33.333/33.333 seating might just have done it.🥳🥳🥳 In regard to the innovative 9:50 cargo divider/table/ backrest, does it come with 4 way lumbar adjustment ? 🤔😉🤣
I had a 2016 Max. Great car. I love the idea of the split tailgate! Mine was a towing monster. I towed a 33ft Streamline and it would hardly ever downshift in tow mode at 70mph.
i was really excited for this and everything is perfect… except for the steering wheel, no paddle shifters, the third row middle seat not completely folding flat is a huge miss for me. the steering wheel and the touch controls ruins it. it was almost perfect. :(
People who weren’t around in the early 2000’s for the Explorers with the plastic liftgate trim that people would grab as a handle and it works constantly break.
Frankly, this is a fail for me. I hate that the gloss black tailgate, the 3rd row center section not being flat as the outboard seats and that stupid looking steering wheel. The biggest fail is not offering the powerboost hybrid engine from the F150!
2025 chevy Tahoe/suburban for the win I’m thoroughly disappointed in this refresh the front end looks nice but the back is a hard no and the interior design is not it
Reflector LED headlights look SUPER cheap. Can’t believe automakers are getting away with providing old school cheap headlights by just offering LED lights

Hi Alex, this does seem more like a hard refresh instead of an "all-new" Expedition. The changes do align with the trends seen in the competition. If Ford continues with the shiny black plastic trim then car buyers will have to consider investing in an aftermarket clear wrap to keep scratching to a minimum. Overall, Ford made a few welcomed changes but the Expedition remains the same, no vehicle buyers will be shocked - except for the people who haven't checked sticker prices for awhile. Thank you, Alex. You're still the best reviewer in the business!
What exact mechanical changes did Ford do to the chassis to allow towing up to 7000 lbs without a weight distribution hitch? Since there is no air suspension.
I really like the King Ranch interior. I think the “heads-up” screen may tend to block best visibility for short torso drivers (like me). But then, I can’t afford to buy an Expedition anyway (or nearly any new SUV or Truck). Are there cup holders in the doors in the second row? What about cup holders for the 3rd row? Spare tire?
Not sure why I'm even looking at this, it doesn't come with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a two car garage. While it's over there costing as much as a 20% down payment for a place to live.
This looks great. Ford did a great job. The expedition, jeeps wagoneer incl grand, gm triplets, and now the armada / qx80 are the only truly competitive BOF SUVs in this class
IMO, the only true competition to this are the Tahoe and Suburban, as well as the GMC Yukon, but they're basically the same thing. All the other models can't even come close to competing, and that includes the Jeep twins.
Thanks for saying GM triplets. Alex got it wrong for quartet of GM fullsize SUVs because the suburban is just a stretched Tahoe. But yeah the GM triplets being the only full size SUVs left with V8s as an option means they will continue to be the standard in the segment, even if u choose to leave out the compromised one with bad cargo space.
I don’t know why every time an auto maker rolls out an update, everyone in the comments section feigns outrage about the price despite it being obvious the manufacturers always show off the highest trims first.
Good review, except I think you made an error in regards to the 3rd row center section remaining higher. It is if you just power lower the smaller right side as you did. But I believe, hope, that the center drop down of the 3rd row is actually part of the larger left side seat, meaning the 3rd row is 60/40, but with a built in center section as a part of the 60 side that can be lowered, but if you leave that center section up and lower the larger left side both the left and center fold all the way down to be fully fold flat same as the right side. This had better be the case, for I won't get it if that center part when all of the 3rd row is down sits up higher so not a fully fold flat 3rd row.
I like what Ford Motor Company has done with the 2024 Expedition. The interior of the King Ranch was my favorite. My only complaint is the 22" plus rims used on the Expedition. I prefer, 16"-17" rims with bigger tires for those rough roads. Thoughts?
I don’t know why this bugs me because I know it’s a little thing, but Ford hasn’t changed their interior chimes/tones in at least 15 years. This thing has the same sounds that our old 2010 Edge did. I never really cared for them.
So you can't lay the third row completely flat? If I fold down all rear seats that middle seat is gonna sit higher than all the others not allowing a fully flat rear cargo area?

Do you know, will ford offer something like the FX4 package from the F150's as an option on the 2025 Expedition Platinum? I would love to get these luxurious Platinum seats but in the Tremor, ,but since I assume I cannot, if I could get the FX4 package with skid plates underneath on the Platinum, I might pay after market to get a 2-3" lift and larger maybe 35 tires to get that added road clearance of the Tremor on the Platinum. Do you know what the road clearance is on the 2025 Expedition Platinum?
