@Sam CarLegion Keep up the great work Sam. Not the result i wanted to see because I was rooting for the Acura but it is what it is. If the car weighed 300-400 pounds lighter i think the Type S would have taken it. Slowly but surely Acura will have a comeback in performance. Just gotta wait on it 👍
I would expect the Audi to win being that it is 312 lbs. lighter and has more torque. I would like to see both of them run on a dyno to see the difference in power and torque delivery.
Slight hp advantage all while being 200-400 pounds lighter gives the g70 an advantage. Not sure how well the transmission tune is as I hear the g70/stinger trans tuning is very nerfed.
Was at the track 6 months ago and there was a Genesis G80 3.3 awd, it did a 13 flat, the Acura is at mid 14s, it will be an embarrassment, need to wait for tuning options
If course it would be. Acura has always been a budget friendly option when compared to the germans. Of course the Audi is also a slightly budget option compared to the actual all-time leader of this segment, the 3 series. The m340i would shit on this Audi and just about anything else also.
@@TheNondiscriminatory Sadly, yeah. The BMW's base MSRP is nearly $6,000 more than the S4, at $55,000 vs $49,000. The interesting thing is, Acura is charging nearly $53,000 for the Type S. They're going to have a really hard time outselling the cheaper, yet faster S4, while also outselling the bonkers M340i, when most buyers would just spend the extra $$ for the BMW anyways. Sadly only the Audi has been AWD long term, which means its fairly hot on the used market compared to the competition, at least where I live in the rockies.
You can’t compare an Acura to Audi or BMW, Mercedes. They are still a higher tier market, luxury brands not premium. Acura is a premium Honda and some of the models were sold as Honda in Europe. For example, the CRV in Europe even has a panaromic sunroof just like RDX, but some countries don’t even sell the Acura brand. Euro standards are alot higher. Here in US, you can get a base model Cadillac or Mustang, in Europe they sell them with all packages and luxury options included, base option doesn’t even exist. That is why Honda is a better buy and sell in Europe not Acura. I lived in Europe for 25 years.
The new Acura TLX vehicles are simply too heavy. Plus, Acura programmed this thing to be a mountain carver with nice acceleration without grenading itself. The Audi on the other hand is lighter, & will allow you to push its components… at a cost.
You don’t even need to see the race. Acura claims TLX Type S will do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Even a decade old S4 can match or even beat that. TLX has no chance against the German cars its supposed to compete with. The S4, C43 AMG, and M340i will all do circles around this TLX.
@@uyscuty5633 finally somebody said it!!! Trust me, there are performance parts and Hondata tuning are coming!!!! Plus the Acuras always hold value..just wish they would have been bold and included some electric motors too...
@@robertragland6084 People in this segment lease. They typically want the latest and the greatest quickly like a new phone. For these companies, it pays off for them to be merely average in reliability. Not too good (like Lexus) and not too bad (like Alfa and JLR). Also, Hondata tuning is great but there is nothing more tunable in the luxury space than a VW group engine. APR will tune the S4 and they'll put the full manufacturer's warranty behind it. With Hondata if you blow the engine, it's on you.
@@uyscuty5633 Okay show me the video of the German press releases where they say that Acura is less reliable than them….. exactly. My point is that Acura must be desperate if they’re out here making bogus claims about them being faster than a S4 given that this can easily be fact checked.
The problem is Acura is marking the type S up to $65k not the $52k they advertised. It’s gonna be smoked by all the competition. The genesis G70 is what we all wanna see. $52k fully loaded.
Sam you made a good point. For how heavy the type s is, it did well. I expected a little more but it's apparent Acura did not want to push this brand new engine. Seems like they still want to protect their reliability reputation.
Indeed, this is a DOHC version of their J-series sans VTEC & with a turbo. Acura programmed the drivetrain to not grenade itself for all out performance.

@@TasimanaOG bruh just cause is isn't the fastest in class doesn't mean its not a good car lol. the build quality on it is far better than the s4 and looks better. and far more reliable.
@Damon Galovich exactly. you can get a good looking reliable sport sedan making 355 hp and 354 lb/ft torque From a single turbo v6. There are faster cars but this is a good fast car for the money, and most people aren’t racing everything they see in these cars. A lot of people just like having the extra roar and zip when they’re speeding up on the interstate or on twisty roads. Plus an Acura is gonna last twice as long as Audis or BMWs before any major repair is needed. To me it’s a Goldilocks but that’s just my opinion, I know others don’t all see it like that.
@@777LAZARUS the Acura is a fine car, but to the point about how long it will last, let’s be honest…no one who’s in the market for any of these are going to drive them long enough for that to be a factor. You really can’t buy a bad car in 2022.
Definitely keeping my ISF now, not a chance in hell this TLX would pull me back over to Acura. Yes, very different levels of performance, but I was expecting an M340i competitor. Even the years old Q50 Redsport has the power this should. The TLX looks great, sounds pretty good, handles well, but the power is not there, especially against all that weight. SHAWD would handle 400hp like a dream. This is Acura’s “performance sedan” but I’m not sure it’s enough to steal some competitor’s buyers. There’s no reason this should weigh more than an MDX.
It does make sense of it to be that heavy. It’s literally a full sized sedan in Dodge Charger territory. I have no idea why they had to make it huge when it’s supposed to compete against 3 series and A4s.
@@nallis01 - indeed, that’s why the Acura TLX Type-S is “muted” the way it is. If the company allowed this thing to truly be unleashed, kiss that reliability goodby.
I've been telling Acura fans for weeks that the Redline race on May 20th between these 2 was a fluke. The S4 was driven by an Acura employee at an Acura event so of course some nefarious efforts would commence if the S4 is faster & that's what happened. It's sad that many people thought what turned out to be a lie. People saying that the Type S is a mid 4 sec car which is laughable. After test driving it I knew it wasn't.
Exactly! Clearly shows that those "Type S vs S4" races at the Type S launch were all staged. And they wouldn't dare race it against the M340i. Or maybe those races were done with the S4 in comfort mode and for like 50 meters!!
@@VeeElJay Yea the S4 was in comfort mode & launch control wasn't used. No way a twin scroll V6 car weighing 4200lbs is gonna gap an S4 which by the way, keeps up with the Mercedes C43 in drag races. Great marketing by Acura though. The Type S is the slowest in the segment. I been saying that since I drove it.
@@mutualdecline2174 Ahh. I didn't pay attention to which mode the S4 was. But I knew something wasn't right when I watched those videos. And Throttle House proved what the S4 is capable of, surprisingly (like you mentioned). @@VeeElJay I could tell that it was in comfort mode & launch control wasn't used in that redline video because the Type s gapped it right off the line. But like you said, you realized that something wasn't right because you had seen the S4 in action & already knew some shenanigans was going on. And also, Acura never told us it's 0-60 & thats almost unheard of when you're talking about a performance vehicle.
You did not just called that fat looking car a better looking car than the audi 😂 that fat car reminds me of the 2012 ugly ass mustang’s & btw i hate audis
I Thought Acura said they literally benchmarked the S4 so that means you tune it to be better and faster am I wrong? But I'll say it over and over this car weighs to much. Now that we've seen this we already know the outcome of the other races 🏎 so you can save the G70 , and M340 and the KIA stinger. This was definitely a huge disappointment but the TLX is still a beautiful car for what it's worth.
The video shows the 4.2 sec. Audi predictably pulling on the 4.6/4.7 sec. Acura. Not sure why the video when the straight line specs tell the story. Note the Acura is still quicker than enough other sport sedans. Note too that there are better reviews diving into the fuller nature of what the TLX-S represents, and how it compares across a wide range of criteria including its superior handling. And from what’s evident in those reviews, the Acura handily beats-out the German cars when one weights the criteria (viz., acceleration, handling & cornering, reliability, interior & exterior aesthetics, build quality & fit & finish, technology, purchase value, long-term ownership value, et al) . If straight acceleration is what’s preeminent in selling cars, then buy a Civic & drop-in a heavily boosted Honda 4cyl. for 10 sec. 1/4 mile times while saving big $$ over the sport sedan offerings. Clearly discerning buyers understand sport sedans deserve a more sophisticated approach than grading merely on a drag race!
@@Snookynibbles Good points but it still doesn't make sense that the marketing brand managers and engineers said from there own mouth this was the car they studied and strived to beat and yet it lost. We all understand it's more to a sport sedan than a straight drag race 🏁 but obviously there's more to a sport sedan than just handling as well. This car doesn't undercut its competitors in price by that much and with Acura at the forefront of offering great performance at a reasonable cost, this is what most people's frustration will be. Why spend the $$ with them when you can get slightly better performance and faster responses from cheaper competitors from Korea and slightly more expensive from Germany. It's very clear in this cars preliminary performances it's going to loose out to it's most closest competitors some cheaper some more expensive, I'm no engineer but weight is alwaysat the top of an engineers mind when producing quicker vehicles, I could be wrong. I had a 2015 TLX. A 2020 MDX Tech SH-AWD and a 2020 MDX A-spec. I still currently have a 2021 ILX A-spec my daughter drives. I didn’t see Acura going the right way with only one engine choice on the new TLX. I liked them having the V6 option which runs better than any of those 2.0 turbo motors. Just disappointed
Well the RS5 is a completely different league. The Acuras all seem to top out on performance and top end. I really liked my 2015 TLX and actually had it chipped. Ride is better than I expected on the RS5. But ride quality on all the Acuras that I owned was a tad better. Except for when I got rid of one of my MDXs for a 2021 Q7 which outdoes it. But still in a different class.
On the handling side the RS5 is so much better because of the tires and the all wheel drive. Now on the 2015 TLX it had all wheel steering which I liked. Just still doesn’t handle as well as the RS5.
I was waiting for this moment thank you Sam. I was really impressed with the Type S 375lbs more slight less torque I will still pick the type S over the S4 it's better looking more modern and more reliable for the money. The s4 is not a bad vehicle but it just looks dated that's my opinion.
Exactly in terms of reliability the Type S is gonna last a few hundred thousand miles before needing any kind of new parts the S4 like all Audi's your taking a few trips to the Audi dealership as soon as you hit 100k and not only that the value of the type s is gonna hold or even increase as the years go by power can always be increased anyways hondas make amazing engines that can handle power like nothing.
For some reason I think the s4 has been tuned and has bolt ons like upgraded filters and piping etc etc. nothing was mentioned if the car was completely stock
I wanna wait till an acura type s have few more miles on it.. like at least more than 5k.. I know what video you are talking about, and if you watch closely the Audi never launched in those races. The guy in Audi was probably just hitting the gas pedal. Remember, that was not his car, it was a vehicle provided by the Acura reps to the press who attended event. You have to launch it on sport mode with Trac off to get the 4.2 0-60
An Acura employee was driving the S4 at an Acura Type S press event, of course they're not gonna let their car lose to its competitor. The S4 driver never used launch control nor was he in sport+ mode. It was a staged race.
i just got a scat charger a few months ago; i traded from a latest gen camaro ss. i love it; the people who say the scats handle like bricks are just wrong. you'll see. they handle very well indeed -- for a full size sedan. you'll see.
This video helps prove that I was right when I said Acura was smoking something when they used the S4 as a benchmark comparison. It may “feel” more planted because it’s bigger and wider stance but I’m willingly to bet the S4 will also clean the Type S clock in the handling department.
Motor trend says no on the skidpad, but if the s4 has comparable brakes, I would say it would beat the type s. It just has better acceleration. Of course, the audi will be worth about 17k in two years, while the Acura will be worth 38k. So, the Acura is a better value in my opinion.
The Type S might win when the S4 doesn't use launch control & is in comfort mode but when in sport/sport+ mode & launch control is used then the S4 will gap the Type S by several car lengths.
@@drivescene6747 I like the car too but like I've been saying for weeks, it's disappointing that, & this is just my opinion, that it's the slowest in the segment. Marking the car up several thousands is just an insult to me. But again, nice looking car & the brand is known for it's reliability.
Huge fan for the typeS and I also respect the s4. Germans been playing this game for years stiff competition acura needs more firepower to best the Germans. Great video! I'll still buy the typeS lol
Basic math would tell you that the Type-S would lose in a drag. Acura got carried away with the size and weight. The SH-AWD does wonders to hide the weight around the track but can't beat the laws of physics in a drag race. Im also sure the turbo 6 could squeeze out a lot more hp and torque than the Audi but Acura tunes their engines for longevity. At the end of the day the Acura is still the better car. Nobody is going to buy the S4 because it's a tenth of a second faster to 60. If acceleration mattered most in this segment everyone would get the m340i. The styling standard features reliability and overall value of the Type-S will appeal to a lot of buyers and there will probably be dealer markups.
@@Tsand4 The Type-S is at least 4.7 to 60. Doesn't matter though. The S4 is more expensive, less reliable and comes with less standard features. Even at 4200 lbs, the Type S is faster than most true sports cars from just a decade ago.

Interesting statement. I have a 2003 CL-Type S with a 6 speed manual. The car has a considerable amount of electronics but has hydraulic power steering that tends to get tighter at freeway speeds allowing the (true) driver to “feel” the road. I understand that that vehicle, along with the TL Type S of the same years, garnered complaints for having to “heavy” of a steering system; in other words, to hard to turn at low speeds. But I submit to you that those complaints came from non-drivers and also, old people who could better afford the higher cost of the top of the line higher end model, thinking that there would be an increase in comfort & ride, when if fact they purchased a model with improved performance and handling in mind. My 2010 TL was the SH-AWD Tech model, also equipped with a 6 speed manual (Mayan Brown with the Umber colored Milano Leather interior-rare; totaled after being involved in a collision 💥 with a 16 year old who hit me, claiming he fell asleep while driving). That car had electric power steering that was easier to handle at low speeds than my CL-Type S, but still handled without compromise at high speeds. It still had a “raw” feeling to it like my CL does. I’m currently buying my 2019 TLX A-SPEC (V-6) SH-AWD. It’s different than my CL and the TL. There is a feeling of artificial power present. I’ve driven the 2021 TLX SH-AWD and also the 2021 TLX-Type S. I was okay with the handling of both. Acura sez they made a mistake with the 1st gen TLX between 2014 & 2017 and are trying to save the performance name that Acura was created for in the 1st place. I’m gonna stick around to see else is in store. Besides my history of having owned 4 of them ( the CL and the TLX currently; also owned a 1996 Integra LS SE Hatchback with a 5 speed manual and before that, a 1991 Honda Prelude Si) they have provided me AFFORDABLE & reliable performance. Up next: A 2021 ILX for my wife.
From a dig, I'd give the nod to the Type-S (FWD sucks at digs) ... but from a roll, the CTR is 1,000lbs lighter and probably puts the exact same amount of power to the ground. I'd say the CTR would easily beat the Type-S from a roll.
The S4 out tunes the Acura by miles. It’s hilarious to me when people want to compare a tuned car vs a German car not knowing Germans gain the most HP out of a single tune.
Don’t forget, a loaded S4 is $63k while Type S is already loaded at $53k. Acura must have decided to decrease slight performance for overall value IMO.
Or just get a CT5V, faster, handles better, proper RWD architecture, or RWD biased AWD, instead of the cheap shawd which will never be rwd biased, they do some interesting tricks with power distribution, but it will never replace a proper LSD in the rear, RWD or AWD that you can find in the CT5V, and you can also get the CT4V which i think will beat this aswell, granted its slightly smaller.

Great video but I must say, this was not a good showing for Acura yet there is so much hype for this TLX its like someone constantly making excuses for their drunk uncle every time they come over. Well it's heavier, well it just needs a tune, well it's so much faster in manual mode, well it is about balance a d it does everything else well, well.... The fact is that regardless of the extra 250 pounds, the TLX should have been able to at least put up a fight from a dig. This was not a fight, it was a beating from a dig and in no way can it be said that the TLX held its own here. That is what a low 5 sec car with a mid 13 sec 1/4 looks like against a low 4 sec car with a high 12 1/4. Just facts. The TLX is nice for what it is but from a performance standpoint it has been significantly overhyped and honestly, a bit of a let down.
@@klowenstein483 exactly. For the hype this car had, it needed to not only compete, it needed to out seat the competition. In this case it was unable to achieve either one. Heck an AWD Giulia (Q4) with a turbo 4 and 280hp can hit 60 in under 5 sec.
I had an Audi S4. Beautiful and quick! But once something breaks, it'll cost a fortune to fix. Im not sure what car I'll get next but both these are in consideration.
With this Acura having a brand new engine, never used in any other car, and probably won’t be used in many more cars in the future, it will also cost a lot to repair.
i watched this with great interest to see if the tlx type s could be a true bargain, just-as-quick, yet classier substitute for my scat charger. well, i'm sure it's all refined and classy, but the acura seems to flunk my 'quick" requirement.
Wait for a tune my friend. Honda said they easily could of made more power but didn't for reliability. You can race it around a track and it won't blow up. It has forged internals, with a tune and downpipe 400whp easily. Probably alot more with a higher rpm as well.
That acura is a real 350HP at the crank while the German 350 is probably at the wheels. BMW is the most notorious for underrating their cars, but all the germans do it.
I'm really curious what was going on in the Type-S? I'm guessing you used launch control for the sport races? Also, was the Type-S out of its break in period? I know the Hondas hold back before they're broken in and adapt to faster logic over time. But I'm still holding out for the Type-S, I think it's highly over built, and will hold up well with some really hot Hondata tunes. Excellent overall!
@@MidnightAspec yet they have one for the 2.0T RDX? They'll be extremely foolish if they don't support the Type-S. But yeah, then let's see what K-Tuner comes up with.

The s4 in redline review wasnt even launched it was probably in comfort mode not in sport not building revs where the type S was launched, it was completly staged, it was BS trying to show off the acura but this shows the real proof of both cars
I was waiting and waiting for the Type S. I was continuously buying Acura. I now know I made the better choice not waiting any longer. I still love the Type S but I am glad I purchased the RS5. I know it is not in the same class but I love it. These are great races. I watch all of them.
What was the last acura vehicle that you had?
I had a 2015 TLX. A 2020 MDX Tech SH-AWD and a 2020 MDX A-spec. I still currently have a 2021 ILX A-spec my daughter drives. I didn’t see Acura going the right way with only one engine choice on the new TLX. I liked them having the V6 option which runs better than any of those 2.0 turbo motors. Just disappointed
@@dennisryan247 How did they compare to the RS5? Ride quality-wise and handling?
I haven’t watched yet but can’t wait. Also, can’t wait to see how the type s does against the other cars including the ctr if that can happen 😁
For some reason I think the s4 has been tuned and has bolt ons like upgraded filters and piping etc etc. nothing was mentioned if the car was completely stock
No the Audi is just built different and they're pretty fast I own an S4
I like this new race format where you and the owners have a go at the race. Keep it up!
I wanna wait till an acura type s have few more miles on it.. like at least more than 5k.. I saw another video were the Acura was faster than the Audi I guess it all depends on the drivers and weather conditions. Awesome race! Both cars are beautiful! Thanks again for the videos! Keep up the good work! ❤️
Even if acura had 100k km - i am sorry it has no chance
@@SamCarLegion true lol 🙈🙈
I know what video you are talking about, and if you watch closely the Audi never launched in those races. The guy in Audi was probably just hitting the gas pedal. Remember, that was not his car, it was a vehicle provided by the Acura reps to the press who attended event. You have to launch it on sport mode with Trac off to get the 4.2 0-60
An Acura employee was driving the S4 at an Acura Type S press event, of course they're not gonna let their car lose to its competitor. The S4 driver never used launch control nor was he in sport+ mode. It was a staged race.
Great content man, both car are awesome.
I wanted a Type S really bad... but I ordered a Scat Pack instead. 😬
Good Choice
i just got a scat charger a few months ago; i traded from a latest gen camaro ss. i love it; the people who say the scats handle like bricks are just wrong. you'll see. they handle very well indeed -- for a full size sedan. you'll see.
This video helps prove that I was right when I said Acura was smoking something when they used the S4 as a benchmark comparison. It may “feel” more planted because it’s bigger and wider stance but I’m willingly to bet the S4 will also clean the Type S clock in the handling department.
Don’t know about that one there, that’s what acura actually cares about lol
Motor trend says no on the skidpad, but if the s4 has comparable brakes, I would say it would beat the type s. It just has better acceleration. Of course, the audi will be worth about 17k in two years, while the Acura will be worth 38k. So, the Acura is a better value in my opinion.
Acura is faster in the starting..but more weight is an issue...otherwise Acura is best
Yup
She needs to diet a little
Great videos once again 👏
Acura dropped the ball on the tl performance wise that fwd layout ain’t gonna cut it regardless of awd they did good on design thats just about it
Glad I proved the press wrong, as amazing the type S is, i knew my S4 would pull through with this, Go Germans!!!!
The Type S might win when the S4 doesn't use launch control & is in comfort mode but when in sport/sport+ mode & launch control is used then the S4 will gap the Type S by several car lengths.
Hey bro. So this confirms that the redline reviews race was with the S4 in comfort mode
@@drivescene6747 yup
@@drivescene6747 Already knew it bro. That race was staged. Shame thar many people were fooled & bought the car based off that video.
@@mutualdecline2174 yeah that kinda sucks. I still love the car tho, just wish it was faster
@@drivescene6747 I like the car too but like I've been saying for weeks, it's disappointing that, & this is just my opinion, that it's the slowest in the segment. The Stinger & the g70 is faster I just felt much faster in those cars than the Type s but my biggest grief is that Acura was very deceptive in regards to it's performance. Marking the car up several thousands is just an insult to me. But again, nice looking car & the brand is known for it's reliability.
I have a 21 accura TLX base model. Not a race car, but I love this car. Smooth and comfortable on another level.
Huge fan for the typeS and I also respect the s4. Germans been playing this game for years stiff competition acura needs more firepower to best the Germans. Great video! I'll still buy the typeS lol
this is AWESOME!!🙌
Audi S4 vs Q50 Redsport 🙏
Yes!!!
A tenth of a second? The Audi is a whole second faster. 4.2 for the s4 5.2 for the type S
@@Tsand4 The Type-S is at least 4.7 to 60. Doesn't matter though. The S4 is more expensive, less reliable and comes with less standard features. Even at 4200 lbs, the Type S is faster than most true sports cars from just a decade ago.
@@jec20721 lol it is not at 4.7 there is a video AHC garage posted of 3 dragy runs every 0-60 was 5.2-5.3……….Acura even said 5 seconds at laguna seca but they started feeling the heat of having slowest car in the segment so started telling people who review it now 4.5 0-60. From this race you can clearly see it’s not a sub 5 sec 0-60 car.
Yea I test drive the type s and the s5. S5 blew out away. Type s still a great dar, but I ended up buying the s5. Sexier car, sounds better and my opinion handles better.
Regardless of the performance differences, I prefer the Acura. If I’m paying over $40k or $50k for a sports sedan, I want one that’ll at least go 200k miles without many, expensive issues. Good luck doing that in a German car.
Brother, You are speaking my language! Thank You for writing that response!
The Type S engine is an entirely new engine. You have no way of knowing how long it'll last...
@@mutualdecline2174 It’s a Honda product, I’m confident it will outlast anything “German”. An Audi’s lifespan is about that of a front load washing machine.
@@mutualdecline2174 It's not an entirely new engine. They've used that engine in the (3.0 Liter) MDX Hybrid for several years now.
@@virgilwyatt4632 They are two completely different engines. The Type S engine is a brand new engine designed & built from scratch.
it's kind of hard to see where the extra $20k went, performance wise, between the Accord and this
You a savage for that one lol
Agreed! I would purchase the Type-R version of the Accord over this TLX.
End of day out of these two cars I love the TLX
.8 seconds.
The accord is like 900 lbs lighter.
We just sold our 2019 S5 after owing it for 2 years, quick car, mine ran 12.5@110 on 91oct at 3100ft elevation and it had the factory 20" wheels. I was expecting the TLX to mirror the performance of the S5 but I found out through other videos that the TLX Type S is 4200lbs and change. I weighted my S5 at the dragstrip and it was 3,990lbs with low gas. I haven't seen the official acceleration times from the big 3: Carnd and driver, Road and track and motor trend but I have the sick feeling that the weight of this new TLX is going to be a handicap on acceleration. The S-AWD is great and the car offers a lot for the value but it is clear that it is going to lack behind the M340I, S4/S5 or C43/53s.
Do a match up between the TLX Type S and the Q50 Redsport.

Maybe after the type s has about 12,000 miles and a few oil changes may put up a better fight but we all know German cars are underrated for sure
I’m an Audi and Acura nut! I’ve had a TLX w AWD and it was great fun, very safe, and comfortable as a daily driver. I’ve had way more Acura cars than Audi…
But I’m the type that keeps what makes me smile the most and quattro is the best IMO.
Sam, I would love to see the TLX Type S go up against a 2007/08 TL Type S. some how i feel the older Type S will give the Current TLX Type S a run for its money....... I currently have a 07 TL Type S and to be honest it feels more alive than the current TLX Type S...

The Acura would abviously win
Wow, not that I want to see.
From a dig, I'd give the nod to the Type-S (FWD sucks at digs) ... but from a roll, the CTR is 1,000lbs lighter and probably puts the exact same amount of power to the ground. I'd say the CTR would easily beat the Type-S from a roll.

Considering the weight, reliability, and how it retains its value, the Acura is still freaking awesome. A few minor tunes, and it will spank an s4

The S4 out tunes the Acura by miles. It’s hilarious to me when people want to compare a tuned car vs a German car not knowing Germans gain the most HP out of a single tune.
@@sharktin240 Yup b9 s4's are in the 10's with stock internals, the type will take years to get there if ever.

Don’t forget, a loaded S4 is $63k while Type S is already loaded at $53k. Acura must have decided to decrease slight performance for overall value IMO.
take away all those fancy gadets to slow for 53k
Or just get a CT5V, faster, handles better, proper RWD architecture, or RWD biased AWD, instead of the cheap shawd which will never be rwd biased, they do some interesting tricks with power distribution, but it will never replace a proper LSD in the rear, RWD or AWD that you can find in the CT5V, and you can also get the CT4V which i think will beat this aswell, granted its slightly smaller.

A lot of people will look at high performance sedans and coupes but will be forced to settle for lower performance variants of the model because of finances, insurance, practically, and other life responsibilities that have to be taken care of and accounted for such as available passenger and cargo room. 3: Rear wheel drive vehicles vs. front wheel drive CARS in snow: Front wheel drive cars will do better. Thats why in 1984, GM began the switch the majority of their passenger CARS to fwd. This was based off studies from data received from the Swedish Government of the reliability of the better performing front wheel drive vehicles in the icy regions of their country. So if you live in areas within the USA that normally receive snow in the winter, vehicle purchases for that family of just one vehicle, the practical choice would be fwd. They also did it in an attempt to meet the stringent demands of CAFE. 4: Even though Acura's reliability seems to be waning, I would still trust it over the reliability over GM.
And low five seconds to sixty was fast twenty years ago.
@@klowenstein483 exactly. For the hype this car had, it needed to not only compete, it needed to out seat the competition. In this case it was unable to achieve either one. Heck an AWD Giulia (Q4) with a turbo 4 and 280hp can hit 60 in under 5 sec.

Wait for a tune my friend. Honda said they easily could of made more power but didn't for reliability. You can race it around a track and it won't blow up. It has forged internals, with a tune and downpipe 400whp easily. Probably alot more with a higher rpm as well.
@@wongchai807 So can literally every other boosted 6 cylinder here. In fact 400 with a tune is on the lower end.
