When you launch that Type S: Transmission in S, brake 100%, gas 100% to the FLOOR, hold for 3-4 sec, you'll hear the engine change when it's ready. I don't think anyone does this right. Why change wheels on Type S too? Canadian get NSX wheels and are gorgeous. He got winters on?
im aware, i literally launched this thing 20x that day 😂. the OEM nsx wheels are heavy, these aftermarkets are 9lbs lighter per wheel. kept my OEM pirellis on too
I love/own an Accord 2.0, and I'm rooting for it until the bitter end, but I don see it's 1250 weight savings and minimal drivetrain loss overcoming the Type S's 100 hp, 75 lb/ft power advantage. I do, however, think it'll be a lot closer than it should be considering that the Type S costs $20k more...
The type S and a core are both underpowered as advertised ...it only has a 33 hp & 23lb(285hp/296trq) more to the wheels then the accord which has to the wheels(236hp/269trq) so the type S has a 49hp/27trq advantage...another advantage it had was that awd.
Hell yeah man!! Sounds like a chill dude im also curious to see those races! I'm also curious to see that against a K5 GT since i know it beats the Accord 2.0T
btw tlx type S and kia k5 would be a good good race. type S did 13.6 1/4 at 103 and the K5 did 13.7 at 106 from car and driver. this tells me the type S has great lauching to get the 13.6 because the mph is low. its top end pull falls on its face due to the weight. the K5 on the other hand struggles off the line but once gets traction less drive train loss and less vehicle weight really help its top end pull so it gets a good time and mph.
@@kiastingergt2231 k5gt has 290hp and 311 left or torque. The fuck you talking about. Not to mention Sam has two videos on here that have the k5gt walking the accord by a decent amount.
That Type-S performed better than it should have cause it's got modified wheels (lighter).. Taking out dynamic unsprung and rotational weight of all 4 wheels makes quite a bit of difference. It would've been better if the car was factory stock, and same for the Accord.
have a straight piped exhaust too which sheds a decent amount of weight too. even with aggregate weight savings the thing is 4100lbs so i doubt the difference is material

Another good video Sam For the class of the accord I'm still really impressed with it. I really want to see the new Type S versus the Acura TL Sh-awd 3.7 ..
The 3.7 would have no chance. I had an accord coupe 3.5 at 3400 lbs, and it beat that 3.7. I just bought a type s and this car is much quicker. The torque on the bottom is where you will notice.
Good runs. The Accord wasn’t far off from a roll so the K5 will have the Type S. Though, I think on a longer stretch, the TLX wouldn’t be gaining as much considering the weight.
I got a good race for us all! How about a Kia K5 GT or a Sonata N line vs 2022 Kia Stinger GT line. The Stinger has 300 hp while the K5 GT and Sonata N line has 290hp they all have 311 ft-lbs of torque. The K5 AND Sonata is front wheel drive while the Stinger is rear wheel drive with the option of all wheel drive. The Stinger has a traditional automatic transmission while the Sonata and K5 has a DCT. This should be a good race it would highlight the advantages of weight, drive train layout and transmission type. Let's make this happen, I'd be the first to watch!
@Tonemack, Search YT, there might already be drag races between these cars. The Stinger is quicker than a stock Type S. Good for the Stinger because that’s the only thing a Kia has over the Acura.

I love your videos Sam, but I must’ve missed the part where you were catching up.
^ I agree. AWD and +100hps for $20k extra. Would be interesting to see the Type-R turbo in the Accord and having it AWD
No. lol. K5 GT is 250hp and getting walked. The accord would even beat it.

That Type-S performed better than it should have cause it's got modified wheels (lighter).. Taking out dynamic unsprung and rotational weight of all 4 wheels makes quite a bit of difference. It would've been better if the car was factory stock, and same for the Accord.
