This is definitely one of my grail watches. Sadly I'll never be able to afford one, or any of my other grail watches. I've been battling kidney failure since I was 33 (I'm 52 now), so I had to settle for a homage of it from the company Seestern that Rob reviews a lot. I don't think you'll ever see a stainless steel version because Tudor doesn't want to infringe on their Black Bay sales anymore than the P39, and BB54 already do. Thanks for all the great videos, Bruce! They let me dream! 😂
Best wishes to you my friend
@@BruceWilliams Thanks Bruce. I appreciate it! I'm a fighter, so I won't be giving up anytime soon!
Hang in there bud
A friend Of mine used to servicemy car had kidney trouble. Sold his Garage retired early he’s now well into his 70s and still enjoying himselfHoping the same happens to you 👍
If I am ever successful enough to afford it, I will buy you one.
I have to say that the Pelegos 39 is arguably one of the brands best watches. It's brilliantly finished and very light with a super bracelet. I love the subtle sunburst dial and bezel but the overall package is a tool watch. Fortunately I had a chance to try one upon release and loved it. This watch is different enough that even if you have a BB58 both could happily reside together in a collection if you can justify it.
Looked at one of these for the first time on Thursday and was surprised how well proportioned the design looked in person. Dramatically smaller than my 42 which isn’t always the case.
Another terrific review Bruce. The popularity for this P39 has certainly remained pretty high so far.
I got one as soon as it got out… this is a 5 digit sub for smart people… amazing…
I think Longines is right up there with Tudor in terms of the value for money aspect! Especially as of late with the Zulu time 39mm and new HydroConquest GMT.
You can tell the Zulu time is a great watch, because of the 5-star review on the dial. There is arguably no better 'mall watch' brand.
Longines has better finish
Longines over Tudor is a no-brainer!
If you're looking for a dive style watch - Tudor beats Longines all day long. Longines wins everything else though maybe!
Was also looking into the hydroconquest
The BBB still my favorite ❤. In 10 years will become a classic with faint memories of the pandemic....it was the only watch that cheered us up when time stood still 😅
Nice watch but I still prefer the 42mm in blue or black as I just love the Matt dial & bezel. I own a blue & it’s one of my favourites. Love the bracelet and is very comfortable & lightweight. Can’t find anything to complain about with this watch. 😍👍
I've had mine since the end of May, this year, I love it so far. I agree that the bezel action, case thinness and lume are my favourite aspects of the watch.
Isn't it a bir like scratch magnet too?
My other Ti second grade watch is catching scratches like crazy :o
I love lightness of Ti but not sure if it's not better for me to save for some grade 5 Ti watch.
@@tomasz5274 yes and because of titanium's darker hue, I would argue it's more noticeable than scratches on brushed, stainless steel. That said, I did put protective stickers on strategic locations, namely the clasp, but those are starting to peel and aren't a perfect solution.
I am at a point where I am beginning to accept scratches and wear on my more expensive watches. On one hand, value retention is important to me, but on the other hand, I buy watches to wear them; scratches are inevitable.
@@JLUnit416 Thanks for sharing your experience
I have this and it’s great! It was my first luxury watch. The only issue I had was the bracelet fitment but with a Uncle Straps half link it fixed it perfectly.
A blue Pelagos 39 in the color of the full sized model would be unreal!
Got Pelagos 39 today. Instant love. Will start saving now for Pelagos 39 Blue when it is available. Lots of watches I will sell for the Blue 39.
Yes it is. Sold my BB58 once I got this.
No, it's not. Tudor Panda chrono black bay > Tudor pelagos 39 any day of the week. ☺️
@@steelsteez6118Unneccessarly thick and chunky no thank you.
Seriously thinking about doing that. But I think I will miss my BB58, so I'm going to wait and have them both

Just watched the mad watch collector before this.
If tudor will re-release the tudor sub, that will be the perfect tudor watch.
Tudor please.
I wish they included drilled lugs in the P39. Planning on picking this one up soon hopefully!
Got my 39 today. You will love it!
I just ordered one after eyeing it since it came out. I had a Pelagos LHD, which was fantastic but I felt it was too big for my wrist. This will be perfect for me. Can't wait for it to arrive! Great review per usual, Bruce.

I have own the 39 for about 3 months now, I love the watch! I did have an issue immediately after I bought it, the crown felt gritty when winding, I had to send it in to Rolex to have it looked at. I got it back recently and now it works fine. 😊

Excellent review as always, Bruce.
Waiting for the Black Bay Burgundy 58, but case similar to the BB 54(in slimness and less polish therefore)! Then a non rivet bracelet, T-fit clasp and the Tudor 🌹 on the dial and the dream watch is there... long way to go I think... waiting for this since I sold the original Black Bay with smile ❤...
I am fortunate to own this watch and a blue BB58, together they give, to me, a complete set of dive watches in my collection. Don't really notice the difference in weight between the two on my wrist although the quickly adjustable T Fit clasp is definitely a bonus. As you stated the lume is phenomenal with the additional lumed bezel over the BB and lasts for ages.

This is like 9.5/10 perfect for me- while I don’t mind the dial and bezel finish, this should also be offered in matte black dial and brushed matte black bezel just like the 42 version…10/10!
One of the best watches I ever owned. And it doesn't competes with BB58, you can have both in the collection
I agree. I have the Pelagos 39 and the only thing preventing me from getting a BB58 is the clasp. I reckon Tudor will refresh it in the next year or 2 and I'll take the plunge then. Both beautiful watches, and very different from one another.

Black Bay 58 and Pelagos 39 are my absolute favorites. I would love to go Titanium and ceramic with the Pelagos and add to my collection.
ORIS is another good entry level luxury brand that still has really good value. Even Tudor is becoming too expensive, though the same has happened to Seiko.
The no date Tudor Sub! Hard to go back to basic clasps after wearing Tudors.
I have a 7 inch wrist and really enjoyed the P39 on wrist. I liked it better than the BB58. Having been lucky enough to try on a vintage Sub a couple weeks after trying the P39 on, I'd say the feel is similar. I'd be okay with a newer Pelagos in 42 with only 200m WR, but WITH a bracelet. I do love the darker blue of the FXD and would also like that shade of blue in a P39. Maybe next year, Tudor?
I would buy this over the 41mm Sub. The maxi case 40mm Sub is perfect on every level.
Perfect review Bruce!
Had this been available last year when I bought my BB58 it would have been a tough choice between the two for sure.
If only it had a date it would be my perfect watch, at least as close as it gets. Hopefully they come out with a version that has a date.
I have been wanting a Pelagos of some kind for quite a while. I tried on the 42 recently and unfortunately the thickness really killed it for me. I am debating between the FXD or waiting until they release this 39 in blue (I already have too many black dial watches). I love the quirkiness of the FXD, but I think I am leaning towards the P39 in blue since I think a big draw to titanium is wearing it on a bracelet and it still weighing nothing
i wear this more than my sub now. less flashy for rough areas, keeps 1/2 sec a day and i wear to gym to time sets. its incredibly light. i tried many grand sieko titanium, couldnt buybtitanium untill this watch and im happy

@@tomasz5274STFU with the same comment over and over
Initially it seemed like the lume wasn't as thickly or evenly applied to the hands as it was on the indices, but if your video it looks perfectly uniform to me. I wonder if they resolved this in QC now or if you just got a perfect example?
Black Bay Pro and BB54 and Palagos 39 👌
BB54 is the handsdown best. Such a slim watch to have the same depth rating as that watch
Safe the best Tudor! I wear it all day, love it! 🥰

Bruce, the Pelagos is now available in carbon composite with the release of the new Alinghi Red Bull collaboration.
I would like a homologation of the 39 details of the dash of red and the brushed bezel. I am a date person so the lack of a date on the 39 and the bb58 are a no for me. I do like the full size 42, but would love to see a pop of color in the text like the 39.
Spot on with the mash up. Imagine if Tudor, or a third party, made a bracelet that could snap on/off to the fixed lugs the FXD!
Love my BB58 blue. Touch more classic in design. A blue P39 would be epic.
I like this watch, I think it would be just about perfect at 42mm.
Bruce, I used to be “…potent and last a long time…” what happened? Seriously, I LOVE your channel. You have a great persona that makes me feel relaxed and that allows me to to enjoy the content even more. Keep up the good work.
I bought THE LHD, great watch.
Just got a Black Bay 54 yesterday, it’s my first dive watch. I love it so much.
The spec on this watch ticked every one of my boxes especially the on the fly bracelet adjustment, but, when I tried it on, to me, it was a big disappointment. It is very light but I just thought it just felt cheap. The Black Bay 58 just looks more expensive in my opinion but I am not in the market for a BB58.
It’s a great offering but due to the lack a date complication and gradeII titanium vs gradeV… it flies just below my radar and makes we second guess pulling the trigger. Even if just one for those aspects were changed I’d probably have one by now. Then again, I don’t see things getting any “cheaper” so I idk..
I much orefer the 42 mm Pelagos. I own the blue and the black. Love them both. Since owning both for a year I would only consider the LHD in place of my standard black Pelagos. Prefer black matt finish on dial and bezel.
Hi Bruce, always watching your video.
How about the BB 54..do you have review it? Because i am considering to buy my first luxury watch, i am consider yo buy longines spirit 37 mm or BB 54.
Thanks for your attention.
Love mine....literally ive never been so gone that i used my watch for the day....plus...my puone is typically close by.
Hi Bruce, what do u think 39mm in ur wrist 7inch size,, is it small,,? Or fit enough.
P39 in the color scheme of OG P, and add some sort of hardening coating. Plz.
I will get one if they make it in blue or blue bezel and black dial
Great looking watch, West Desert in the intro? I enjoyed the review.
5 mile pass
I just got to check out the OG Pelagos, Pelly 39 and FXD all right next to each other. All great of course, but in comparison, i found the 39 to be kinda meh. It was too Black Bayified if that makes sense haha. The tooly nature is what makes the other versions so appealing imo
I hope they make a blue in 39.
Imo if this watch had a date at 6 o'clock it would be near perfect as a tool watch. To me, only dress watches need to be sans date.
We are waiting for your review of the new hydroconquest GMT 😊
I dig this watch, but most watches don't completely tick all the boxes. Have to love each one as itself.
Pelly 39 in stainless would be ideal
Yes it’s the best
I wish I bought this instead of the BB58
and id take a reissued sub 39ml ..in house with an older rolex sub case as they used to in the past
For me the last interesting Tudor was the North Flag. But I like Tudor and would love to see not always more of the same.
a great watch but imo my lhd pelly is the best roulette date wheel..500m and helium valve and red dial type ..to me the 42 ml pelly is tudors big diver and how itcwas meant to be
The roulette wheel is so cool
I have a mn22 fxd. It’s pretty much perfect; but I want a bracelet! Thats the only thing it’s missing 😅.
Good modern watch no fake rivets 😅 and looks like the old snowflake tudor submariner.. nice watch 🎉
I almost bought it just couldn't get past the light weight
well that’s titanium!
Great review. Add a ceramic bezel and i am in.
It has a ceramic bezel.
Doesn’t grade 2 titanium pick up scratches easily ? Grade 5 may have been better or as you say stainless steel.
Grade 5 is more scratch resistant, but not by a large margin. I would have preferred grade 5
At the price point grade 5 woule be more appropriate or a treatment similar to what zelos does for their ti that brings the hardness up to 1200 vickers
After trying on this watch at a AD it was a pretty easy pass for me. The main thing is how it felt on the wrist. Compared to my titanium Sinn 203. It felt very cheap and flimsy compared to my 203 which feels very solid even though it's light. Also, the bezell to me just does not fit the type of watch and looks out of place. I would take the original Pelagos LHD over the 39
I've got 3x Tudor, I tried this 39mm when buying my chrono reverse panda, and I just don't understand the hype with this piece...
It was too small for my wrist, too shinny and overall just lacking character, in my eyes 🤷♂️
The size and design is just right. It's more of a replacement for pre-ceramic Submariners and has the similar vibe.
I was in London, UK a couple of weeks ago and every watch store that stocked Tudors had several P39s in stock. So I don't think Tudor will be pulling any Rolex inventory tricks
I think the non Rolex market us certainly slowing down
Super vedio bro,
Is it true that hands lume weaker than index lume,,,?
No it looks consistent to me
I own the silver bb58 and somehow I think it’s beautiful watch except the cheap band
The lume is way better than the bb54. But I still like the bb54 more. It's just so elegant
My perfect Tudor would be a 41mm version of the Pelagos 39.
No i prefer full size myself , i own the LHD, tried the 39 on lovely watch but nah.
Gimme a Pelly 42 in steel, no date on a oyster flex.
I kinda wish they used titanium grade 5 and not grade 2.
I hope they continue to stay away from larger watches. As much as bigger wristed collectors don't want to admit it, a big wrist with a smaller watch looks far better than a small wrist with a bigger watch. The 42 with its 51mm lug-to-lug is unwearable for many. No more big watches!
The only issue I have with it is that it's a dive watch. I'd prefer a BB36.
Beautiful watch , just wished it was available in stainless steel …..
Give me the pelagos 39 in steel with the black rosegold style of the bb 58. I know sounds strange but well...
👀
i really want to like the pelagos, but there is something about each model that is a dealbreaker. too small. too thick, no bracelet option, no date,etc............if i just hold out long enough they'll make the perfect one for me!! thanks Bruce.
I always said a smaller Pelagos would be my perfect watch, but I'm so disappointed with Tudor for this. No date, why?
And awkward, odd sized lug widths, like what they've put on the new 36mm Explorer, why Tudor/Rolex, WHY?
I think this watch would look amazing on a green nato, but where are you going to find a decent 21mm nato strap?
To me, this is more a Pelagos 'Lite' and basically nothing more than a BB58 in a different shell.
I'd be tempted to just buy a BB58.
agree for the most part. :/ if the Pelagos39 had date I think I would have one in the collection by now.
Sinn U50 is a great other option
Pelagos is better than sub and GMT
To me 41 mm will be perfect! 42 ok!?? 39? very confortable but way to small
I’m Actually waitlisted on one of these
how long expected?
I hate to hear that as a potential buyer.
I don't see the point in using different tones and materials. This is actually a "real" tool watch, the BB58 is the one that can take advantage of different materials and tones.
Only gripe with this is the amount of negative space (and if I was really being a dick, the hour hand)😂
Best offering?!….
Yeah right, with the lume falling out….
🤣🤣🤣
Right now I still think it’s the black Bay 58 but when they update the 54 to a larger size with the better bezel that will be the one, AKA Tudor Sub Mariner!
Titanium alloy 2 - no thank you!
Why do you like the dive extension? That has to be by far the most ridiculous watch component ever. You know quite well you would never ever use it.
Good looks and solid dial, but I’ll never get over the sharp edges, subpar craftsmanship and poor bracelet tolerances. I’ve seen less shake and rattle in $500 watches.
That’s a fashion diver, whatever that means. Radiant brushing on a bezel and dial on a titanium diver ? What’s the point? Tudor makes great value for money watches, but usually lacks originality with all those heritage releases. Original Pelagos is great, this one not.
Feels like a fake in titanium. A watch this size doesn't need it.
Stainless version at a cheaper price would be fine.
I don’t know, Bruce. I can’t see a tool watch being status symbol. Insame
It’s Tudor’s biggest missed opportunity. Plagued with quality issues and silly design problems with the clasp 🤦🏻♂️
What’s the point of buying a watch just to lock it up in a safe? No memories no experience and joy…lol
