    After almost a year of ownership, my Pelagos 39 is one of my most beloved divers in my collection. I have never experienced a dive watch more comfortable to wear than the Pelagos 39. With its fully articulating links, female end links, full taper, t-fit clasp, and the lightweight nature of the titanium, its peak comfort achieved. Oddly, it’s more comfortable than my midsize Black Bay 54 - my most beloved diver.
    The history of the snowflake markers and handset with the Marine Nationale elevates the overall appeal and package. Like you stated, it’s highly legible. The flat sapphire crystal, a dial larger than the latest Submariner, and the markers and handset provides legibility I have never experienced before.
    It’s staying in my collection. While I will be tempted with the inevitable blue P39, I doubt I will be able to let my black one go. Because I adore the red Pelagos text.
    Enjoyed your review. Rock on 🤘 🔥

      @@jackarnold3290 I'll probably go the same route, except I'll keep my BB54. I want a blue P39, too. Perhaps owning the same watch in two different colors isn't a bad thing, huh? lol.

    Yes it’s boring but it’s amazing!! This is my first luxury watch and I love everything about it…besides the lack of quick release on the bracelet and the odd lug width but I leave it on the bracelet so it’s not that big of a deal. I initially couldn’t get a good fit but ordered a Uncle Straps/Seiko half link and it fits perfectly. Also, something I’ve recently noticed is there is a stop when you get back to the 12 o’clock point on the bezel. It’s not a different click before getting to the 12 but a little more resistance before going past 12.

    Boring = Timeless. That said, light play on a dial and bezel brings out changing tone that works with titanium case and bracelet. Subtle touch of “interesting” on a boring watch. Overall I think Tudor did a great job.

    9:00 - It's funny people think a $5k watch is a tool lol.. especially a diving watch which is basically obsolete. Let's face it.. people wear these watches because we like them and they are cool.

    • @Watchcastage
      @Watchcastage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      People may not use it frequently for the original purpose of being a dive watch to calculate decompression intervals or anything, but the brands still seem to design stuff with certain use cases in mind. This watch is a tool for me even though I don’t dive, I use it to time stuff every single time I wear it, just like a G-shock. But I do agree that we wear these watches because we like them because they are an out dated and obsolete technology.

    I bought this one when I knew I was waiting for a child. I use it everyday and it’s gonna be his first watch. It’s just what a no date sub used to be 35 years ago. Simply a stunner.
    The dial and bezel gives it something more. A refined touch.
    I own a fifty fathoms and I’ve been loving watches for the last twenty years. Yes this is boring but in a good way. It goes unnoticed and it has some cool factor. Great piece in the end. Will go trough the rest of time quiete nicely ❤

    It's a Tool watch. To claim it as a boring watch is improper. It does what a tool watch does best. A luxury level watch without the pansy fancy shiny aesthetics. The snowflake hands are very visible in lighting conditions that is harder to read with any other watch. Ink black dial which absorbs light very well that does not reflect glare making it extremely legible. A very loud and study bezel clicks which resonate studiness.

    Wish the minute hand had a bit more lume…seems to fade quickly compared to the hour hand…but ours is an imperfect world. Mine gains about 3 to 4 seconds a day…something I prefer to running a few seconds slow because it’s quicker to reset.

      I wouldn't mind an aluminum bezel on this, or if they went with the matte bezel like the Pelagos 42 or the FXD, that'd be awesome. I'm have been wearing the 58 for 2.5 years now and the rivets really don't come into play for me. When it's on my wrist I never really see them.

    I love this watch but you called it at the end there, needs a date. It's beyond me why they put a date on the 42mm hardcore tool diver version but they didnt put a date on the supposed office/professional version where youll actually regularly need one.

    • @Watchcastage
      @Watchcastage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm guessing it has to do with the thickness? Maybe they are going to the Rolex route where they put out a great diver and then wait a while to put out the date version? I'm not sure, but a date would have been incredible on this.

    • @bodong7
      @bodong7 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree and don’t agree on this one, yes a date window would be nice on this watch especially if you are wearing in as a daily. There are so many times when I raised my wrist to check for date but ended pulling my phone out. But on the other other hand if Tudor put a date window on the P39, because the dial is smaller than the P42, the date window might be smaller too, and that could be hard to see if your eyes aren’t perfect. Plus adding a date window will make the dial unbalanced …. I guess there is no perfection 😂

    • @K.J.H_
      @K.J.H_ 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bodong7 it's the age old debate. Plenty of mid sized and even small watches manage to have a date, so I suppose not being able to see well is kinda the responsibility of the user to get glasses! Haha just joking, but yeh I guess a cyclops would fix that if it was really bad but might be too derivative of rolex at that point. The choice would be nice though.
      Dial balance I find to be an interesting argument. Because watches are inherently not symmetrical. You have a crown for one. The text and logo above the hands is never the same as that below it. The hands aren't the same. No one complains about a triangle at 12 yet there isn't one at 6. For me, its about visual weight. A date window doesn't have to significantly disturb the balance as it were if it's done well within the design and doesn't significantly throw off the visual weight around the dial. For the pelagos, 3 or 6 would work with a white date wheel to balance the white markers. Just my opinion of course 🙂

    • @K.J.H_
      @K.J.H_ 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Watchcastage yeh don't know, I think they could manage it if they wanted to. They put a date on the bb steel without adding much (or any?) thickness. The new redbull pelagos chrono has a date too. So they can, they just don't. I think it's hubris, telling us how the watch has to exactly be with no options, while a start up brand can offer date/no-date and 10 different colours out of the gate. I hope and wish they went the rolex sub route and offered both, especially for the pelagos 39 which has all that old school sub dna. But considering the refusal to date almost all of the bb range, including the 58 and all of the bezeless dress pieces, I'm not holding my breath. Which is a shame because it would be such a perfect daily otherwise.

You may have a different experience, but I think it’s just too big especially with the male end links. I tired the Current submariner, current GMT, current Yacht Master, and current 36mm DJ. My absolute favorite was the 40mm Yacht Master because the curved case and slightly different lugs work a lot better. The 36mm DJ and OP are easy choices too. I’m not sure what the markets are like in different states and countries. When it was launched, I was texting my AD in the middle of the night and I ended up getting the first one they received. That was 3 months after release. I went in again about 6 months later and they said they had only received the single one that I had (but that could have been them trying to make me feel special). On the Tudor subreddit which I review pretty regularly it seems like a lot of people are getting them now and a number of them seem to have been able to walk in and buy one right out of the case. If I had to guess there’s maybe a 3-6 month wait in most places, but this is pure speculation based on my experience in a very small market with a single AD.

    From afar it looks great, even wears well on smaller wrist. However up close the finishing on the bezel and dial don't match up quite well and it bothered me. Also, the square indices are raised above the dial instead of sunken or flushed. The combination of these makes the watch look cheap. I get what they were going for but it missed the mark for me.
