I have one. It's good, but honestly, it reminds me of a well crafted TS with more low end and less squash. I prefer my Joyo R-Series TaiChi. It has a even less compression at lower gain, and has that extra focus/voice control. Very solid build, for sure.
Very nice video!!! You did it in the way that makes the most sense to me - from low gain to high gain. A lot of youtubers just go straight to the gnarly stuff and forget that some people (like me) don't always crank the drive all the way up. Anyway, once again NICE VIDEO!!!
I got one. And did a side-by-side with my other ODs. Turns out this guy is mostly in the tube screamer realm (tonally - it may have a different circuit topology). Its mid-range is a bit higher on the eq scale than standard, much like my MXR Custom Modified Badass OD with its 'mids' button engaged. The Steel Singer has a bit more low-mids/upper-lows than a standard TS, so it growls a bit more, but basically has the same bass freq cut off. What makes it stand out is the gain knob is smooth. Noon on the SS is like 10 o'clock on the MXR and my standard TS. So it's easier to hone in on the right amount of low-gain. Also, it's less fizzy, so it has a bit more clarity. And it's a bit less compressed, so it feels a tad more 'open'. I suspect they used a different set of diodes in the clipping section than is standard. All-in-all, it's good and does what you'd want a TS to do. Nice lush OD for chord work, but great mid-honk for solos. Given the subtle differences I've detailed above, it may be a better fit for some amps than a standard TS.
Damn you make me want this pedal - I look forward to it's release! Thanks for taking us through it's paces with your tasty playing! Liked and subscribed - cheers!
Dankeschön! Noch viel Raum zur Verbesserung vorhanden, aber irgendwie/irgendwann muss man ja mal anfangen 😁 ja, das Pedal macht im low Gain für den Preis echt Laune!
The Vertex was a clone of a MOSFET boost/drive circuit. I forget the name of the guy who originally built that circuit but it was never really about anything Dumble. Vertex (the NUX is obviously based on the Vertex pedal) sold it as a Dumble pedal, but it's just a good drive pedal. The NUX sounds great. Nice work.
Today it’s very confusing who invented, who copied, etc etc... at the end for me, when there’s no copyright violation, all that matters is sound - and it really does sound good! (With a great price tag 😉). Thank you very much 🙏

Very nice juicy crispy sound. I bought one and it's the tone I like. However, all the basses are gone and it's not that transparent. Compare to my TC cinders, it's less open but sound is damn good!
Thanks s lot 🙏 it’s the same with almost every pedal - I never get to sound them like when Pete Thorn plays them 😂🙈 depends so much on equipment, the player & the personal taste ... but er the end - if it sounds good, it’s good (don’t know where I stole that from 😜).
I haven’t played the vertex but I can tell you one obvious difference - the price 😁 just kidding... once I played it I’ll do a Versus video for sure.... 🤘
I thought that, too - but double checked and tuned before every single take... so t know why... but glad you liked the demo! (And Pedal!) more to come (with improved sounds)... 🙏🤘
Yeah, everything is lovely but WHERE do I get THIS PEDAL? Seems that nobody is selling it, so what's the deal with it? only sending it to youtubers for "good" reviews? Give me some light!
It’s a copy of a dumble.. with the same font and knobs.. as is the vertex.. which is a jack ormon boost. It’s not like th vertex guy invented anything.
The mids are off on this thing. It sounds more honky tonk then something SRV or Mayer would put out. They must have stopped in Bakersfield instead of Burbank when developing this pedal and thought they were in the right place.
Aren’t the mids scooped with these amps? I think SRV uses a TS 808 for mid hump and Mayer used a TS10 & Bluesbreaker MKI to push his mids.. but hey, I’ve never played an original, so.. 😉
@@MartinFrydas SRV usually kicked in the 808 on the Marshall to calm the bottom end down, or an already cranked Fender with a 15" speaker in the cab. The Dumble had gain built into the amps preamp. That's why it was funny in the 2000's when tube amp builders got criticism for using solid state gain stages, even though the Holy Grail of amps had it in the design. The mids to me are just a little too north in the eq spectrum this pedal, not too much mid, just where its at. th-cam.com/video/3c_8VUL5jks/w-d-xo.html
It's really just a TS - style pedal. Mids are bit higher freq than on a standard TS, so they do cut through more 'honk-tonky-like'. It sounds NOTHING AT ALL like my two "Dumble" pedals - Joyo Tai Chi and TomsLine Dumbler. It's a decent TS if you want a bit more growl, but don't need any more low-end (same bass cutoff as a TS), and if you want your mids a bit 'squeakier'. The best thing about it is that it's doesn't compress as much. Hard to describe. I think they used non-standard clipping and it plays more dynamically and 'open'. I'd take this over a standard TS, but it's not worth replacing your TS with.
@@MartinFrydas ahhh....um....P.O.S.....Piece Of... "Stuff"... Yeah...we'll just go with "stuff"... Great demo video, by the way. This demo really put this pedal on my radar.
just a tip. the way you present the knob positions its not intuitive. if you say its at 7 then it must be pretty much almost maxed out. but you are trying to say 7 o'clock so i dont know. go for the actual knob posit. or go for the hours position but use the full terminologie
Is this the best budget Dumble Pedal? Let me know what you think! 😎🤘
Like I said, I’m really not into this topic, but nux knows what they’re doing, right? Nevertheless it’s a great sounding pedal 😁🤘
J Rocket The Dude .. maybe
Vladimir Meza also a Great D-Style Pedal... 👍

I really like the sound of this pedal at 4:05 like you Martin. And it also shined when used with a Marshall amp too!
Great review, Martin! Straight to the point and all playing 🤓🤘🤘🔥
