Hey please let me share this, let me get this out.
My whole life, I was never there. I'm just a ghost running scared ( tstm reference lol). I had anxiety maybe I still do and I regret it. I was really scared and probably too insecure and I let that get in the way of making a good new reputation. I got too divulged in my insecurities. High school wasn't very fun. Our school had lots of fun activities and I didn't join in. Guess what? now that I'm going to college, I don't know if I'll be able to make friends, with people judging us by our social media profiles which in fact I didn't have. I tried making one but no one knows me. I wasn't significant. Now if I have to talk to my younger self I'll rant the stupid insecurity out my shitty head. I regret things.
I've watched countless "how to survive college" videos and God help me.

I completely understand where your coming from. All my life, my twin and I have been hiding behind the screen and barely going out to do things differently and meeting new people. It's not that we don't want to, it's just the fact that we think people would judge us based on our appearance or we're just afraid to start a conversation. But honestly, one day we just have to keep our heads high and try. That's why, when I start my first day of school tomorrow, I'm going to try meeting new people and joining clubs during the welcome back barbecue because I have learned that there are people out there that are just as nervous and scared and I could possibly helped that person feel comfortable and secure in an environment that we both may be new to. I guess, all I'm trying to say is, when the time comes you'll learn to overcome your anxieties. I guess it took me a little longer to do that, but there is never a wrong time to make a change in yourself. And also people on here don't really have a friendship type of bonding thing but, I would be more then happy to become friends with anyone. Just a sweet hello. :D
I believe a lot of people talk up the fact they have social anxiety when in fact they really don't. The same thing goes with depression. Unless this girl went through a major metamorphosis from a complete loner/loser to a complete opposite and essentially a TH-cam star with possibly many friends, I highly doubt this girl knows what true social anxiety and loneliness is. If you are able to be successful in work (yes that does include putting time into editing and making successful TH-cam videos), have good relationships, and can complete daily life tasks with a fair amount of ease, then you don't have social anxiety.

I tried talking to like 4 people because we were part of a group. At first we all talked but then they talked amongst themselves and didn't really involve me into their convo. So I was thinking. "ok...what now..?" I really don't know what happened.

Sometimes our mind makes us believe that we aren't apart of the group anymore because they have kind of made you feel left out. But you can always change the conversation and let them realize that you are still apart of the group. Don't be afraid to speak up. ^_^

This helped me a lot as I just finished my first semester of college and still have not made one friend. I definently have moments where I feel I made the wrong decision going away but I'm trying my hardest to see it all the way through before I make any decisions.

I feel you! Try waring anime merch or movie merch. someone will say hey you watch X series or are you fun of X movie? or you can ask someone info for classes or were something in camp is. that's how I made 1 new friend. Hope you see this and helped you ^^

Honestly, it's too late to make friends. Just embrace you're going to be alone for the rest of your life.
I agree with what you said about being yourself! People are drawn to confidence and you're most confident when you feel most like yourself! I also agree that you can meet people anywhere! Everyone is looking for new friends so just keep that in mind. Also, no one is going to flat out reject you so no worries on that front! Lastly, getting a meal somewhere...dining hall, starbucks, campus town, etc. Is a really low key way to get to know someone! Good luck with school guys!!

I just finished my 1st year at university and I didn't meet a lot of people because I was too afraid to get out of my shell. Your tips really inspired me to get out there this upcoming Fall and make friendships!

This was great to see. I just finished my first semester, and while I do enjoy college, it does make me sad that I don't have friends like everyone around me does (super close, etc.) But this makes me feel confident that if I just stay being myself that the friends will come :)
I just finished my first semester & this was for sure one of my biggest issues. I want to join a sorority next semester so I would love to see a video on all of that jazz!

It's WEIRD because i'm going to a community college and I was like.. " this is going to suck because it's like high school all over again." I had NO friends in High School and I didn't like High School at ALL. I made two friends the FIRST DAY of class because I put myself out there. Granted I have no clue if they're TRUE friends or LIFELONG friends, but I was able to meet nice people within the first day. IT all just depends

An astronomy class was totally the best way to make friends I've ever experienced ... I started dating 2 chicks from the same class (I've never done that in my life) and made 5 solid friends over a single semester... I finally said Fuck it, I'm done being afraid.. What's worse than being alone, is being surrounded by people who Make you feel alone. So you just gotta say fuck it, put yourself out there, voice what you love, what your amazed by (stars, scale of the universe, all that), and what you can't stand about the world (evil people in power)... You are bound to have people love you for YOU, because you give them Permission to be themselfes too. So right now, if things are Bad (I was in the worse place of my life)... Die to your old self, say no pain of the past comes with me, I am new, I am fucking awesome, I am a blank slate, and finding my Tribe is my birth right. And THIS IS WHO IM HERE TO BE AND IT COULD BE NO OTHER WAY. Boom!
PS I didn't even listen to this girls video. She's never been truly alone a day in her life. ~

love this video! I totally think what you said is true about making friends in college. My school is one of those that do rush in the spring and I'm very excited for it! I was wondering if you could do a video about what to wear for recruitment in the winter?? A little different from rompers and shorts when it's snowing haha

I remember being in community college for one semester and during the first few months, I had no friends at all. It was weird and scary at the same time! Then later during the semester I made friends with one girl in my English class right away and I'm still friends with her to this day. I agree with what you said, Caitlin! Good video.
First thought: the visual quality is categorically better than almost everything I've seen on TH-cam. It does make a difference and makes the video more engaging.
How to balance college life with education and friends and having fun! Also, I would love if you could make a video on boys-wether it be advice videos for having a bf, or perks to being single/taken, etc. That video doesn't need to be exclusively on college boys either

I finished my first semester of college. My first month was so scary. my first general meeting of my club I was so terrified and nervous. Now i met some nice people in the club, i can be myself with. I don't have close friends i can hang with a lot which is my goal. But i guess since i'm not dorming It will take longer. Im glad i progressed from day one tho.

That happened to me in my first year (last year). Went straight from high school to college to university. But talking to people from my classes and meeting new friends of friends made my campus so small!

Can you please please please do a video on going to college out of state there isn't any on TH-cam and I'm moving across the country for school! Trying to figure out how to pack all my stuff in suitcases and friends and adjusting to new settings is really nerve racking!
You should make a video about handling stress/anxiety while juggling school/work/social life, etc. Also, how to deal with insecurity and uncertainty about the future.
The best method is to be nice to people. I'm nice to everybody I see. Actually, too nice :-P
I'm not too talkative and usually be by myself but still I'm a friend magnet.
the way that I made 'friends' was that one person I have every class with, I get to know them and hung out, then eventually their friends became cool with me.
Making friends in college can definitely be tough, especially when youre a freshman, I just dropped my first video on how to make friends if youre starting a new year :D
make sure you understand what it is you really want, do you want people to call your friends or do you just "want friends" . Meditate on whether or not you are lonely or if you think you should have friends to fulfill the social requirement of having friends. Dont embrace being alone out of some high school edgy mindset of refusing to admit you feel lonely because "Im not meant for other pople" or "I dont belong anywere", if you truly dont ,dont but do not let others guilt trip you into into a feeling you dont really have.

Hey Caitlin, I'm from Brasil and I'd like to know how Americans receive international students, cause I'd really love studying there. I think maybe it's more difficult to make friends when you're from other country. Here in Brasil we are known for receiving everyone with sympathy and we do try to get along, making sure every tourist feels like home. I Love your channel, and I'm sorry for any language mistakes. I don't know if all colleges are like this, but I met a girl through my sorority this year from Brazil and we all love her. She has a very thick accent and still lives there on breaks from school, but everyone at my school is super accepting. I'm actually living with her next year! I think most American students would be interested in learning about a different culture, you should go for it!

Question? Im a community college student and I'm transferring to a university that is close to home. I want to put myself out there and get over my shyness I've thought about living on campus however it's expensive and there's no point because I'm not out of state it's in my own backyard pretty much. I want to live on campus because it'll help me met people. Should I live on campus even though I'm so close to school?

I was able to make friends in college, thank God. But the problem is when it comes to guys approaching the girls. Can be a bit of an issue. I did unfortunately face that issue in my college for years, even since the past year! It's kind of complicating to explain. Even if everything was good at first & seemed everything was ok, then, it just doesn't work out in the end! It's hard too even when you're on the Autism spectrum
having friends in college isn't really important because I can say I have met my best and worst friends in college you just have to know how to weave out the good and the bad

At the beginning of my first semester, I thought I made some really good, solid friends, but it turns out that I was wrong, and I left the first semester thinking that I'm never gonna make real friends at school. I was so scared to go to uni because I was bullied and had no friends since I was 10....when I started uni I wanted to join a club but was really hesitant. I decided to join it and it was the best decision of my life because instantly I found the most amazing people there, I couldn't ask for better friends. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I decided not to join, it makes me scared to even think about it...

I was thinking maybe you could do an advice video for commuting students in terms of getting involved in campus activities/organizations. At my university many, if not most of the events happen at night and it can be hard for me to attend them. I know that you live on campus, but maybe you have a friend or someone you know that commutes to school. The video was really helpful by the way.

I have friends but to me they're just people I'm on good terms with. We don't talk outside of meeting each other, I cant confide in any of them and none of them confide in me. I lack a deep connection.

What do the words "semester", "trimester", "freshman", "sofmore" etc mean? Is it an American thing?
I'm from Canada, but a semester is half your school year. If you are in a 4 year study then Freshman is 1st year, sophomore is 2nd, junior is 3rd and senior is 4th.

Hey everyone....so its been a while since I joined collage but I feel that my friendship with them is not that great. When I am with them I socialiुze and we have fun talking and cracking jokes. However, my friendship with them is only limited to classroom but rest of them hangout out of classroom togather without inviting me. Do u think its because I don't chat online with them on fb at all. Could u help me figure out how important is it to chat on fb in order to have great friendship. This is my first semester in college. I feel sad and pain inside in class. I am not really okay with the lecture and I am the one who is as a foreigner. Every local student want to be themselves. I am getting hard to continue. Give me advice sis. I can't move on. It is really hard me inside and I broken down into pieces.
