Videos of this type are very helpful. Even those of us that have done this find a new trick once in a while. I have 2 carb kits for SXL and XL12 on the way now.

I'm in the market for a new carb in my Homelite Super XL. I don't have the model as it's missing. I My saw is very much like the one in your video. Thanks in advance.

where’s the video of you taking the carb apart? I see the videos of taking the saw apart but none with the carb in it

I have a few of these saws to get back into service this year. Having the blue Prestolite blues on 3 of them. Those ignition modules are an expensive aggravation.

@@claytonshowalter4457 I think it's likely that I have crank seals out on my oldest XL12 given its runaway behavior the last day it was used. My Dad bought that saw about 1980 and it was the saw I learned to cut with as a teenager back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. It's on the list for a full blown restoration. Also expect to have at least one SXL rebuild as well. I want one dedicated 24" set up for the rare "big tree". I know a 16" saw is plenty for most of what I have ever done, but found a happy balance with 20" saws most of the time. Saves me bending my back another 4". Fun old fashioned tools of my childhood era. Oh yeah, and there is that big blue C-5 that I want to get running again. It was around when I was just a little kid. My Dad's first chainsaw.....

@@johnnorman7708 if the crank seals are leaking on your xl12 that will cause a runaway condition high RPMs I've only been working on Old chainsaws for a couple of years now but really like working on them it's learning on them have a Homelite c72 that will be on my channel hopefully soon as well as many other projects

@@claytonshowalter4457 I'm shopping parts steadily these days. I need to get as many saws running as I can for use this year. Have to get my sons broke in on some light weight modern and then get them used to some heavier stuff gradually. That's where the 16" bar set ups may prove useful. Less length less leverage and less to hit something you shouldn't from overreach.
