I like this guys review for the fact that he actually dives in and shows how the ui works, in and out. To me, this is in-depth and hands-on which incidentally is a title far too many reviewers don for their videos without really being deserving of such.

I bought one used, but I already had an HX400V, and the menu system is not the same. I much prefer the menu on the HX400V so I passed the HX300 on to my friend who had used his dad's camera but never had one of his own.
This baby is LOADED!!!!!!!!! Time to study like a professor!

Yes-camera got wind noise reduction. It is not possible to change the built in Lens which is great enough ( especially in telephoto range) . maybe macro could be better but there are another SCN modes which compensates this default. Video quality is awesome in 17p,25p, and 50p in avchd mode. In hx400 processor is 3 times quicker and got HS, wifi and gps so think about it nevertheless it is higher price.
It hasn't got a small remote control like the older model. Very useful when you take self pics.

Does this camera have some form of compensation for wind noise? Mine is " in the mail" ! What won me over was the manual focus ring around the lens and the effective auto focus and stabilization which is what scared me away from the Nikon P520 and after 20+ faithful years with Canon - they were only offering 12 mega-pixels!! My current SX30 IS has 14.1 - they are going backwards! .. I am going to miss the superior flip out and around LCD screen on both the Canon and new for this year (finally) the Nikon. But Sony won the contest for my needs this time.
This camera is NOT made of metal. It is a composite plastic, still high quality but not metal.
I have the camera and I am happy with its performance. I had filmed some movies but I can not play them in my laptop, only in the camera. Seems I don´t have the right format for that. What do you suggest?
Your camera is recording in AVCHD mode which I think is mainly Sony.
You can download Play Memories Home software to convert to MP4.
Or you can change the settings in the camera to MP4 mode.

Might get this for Christmas firmly photography cause it's about 20 megapixels
that I believe is a refurbished camera. I had 4 cameras in a row from Argos, three Nikon and an Olympus and all my faulty camera had the exact same VOID STICKER on it, lol.
I have a list of videos about this.
After less than one year I have error 62-10 flashing all the time in this camera and it takes several seconds now to open the image to shoot and then wiggles the image. I contacted Sony since I am still in warranty period, shipped the camera for repair and then they lie and say the camera is full of sand so will not fix it. I have watched several of these videos and now know the sand excuse is total BS. I will not buy Sony again as this error apparently is common, has to do with the zooming.

remove sdxc card and format on a pc, not camera itself
FACTORY RESET:
To restoring Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H300 to it’s factory settings, conform to the following instructions:
Power on the camera, and select “Menu,” then “Settings.”
Select “Main Settings,” then “Initialize.”
Select “OK,” and press the center button on the control wheel.
Turn off the camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
Reinsert the battery pack.
Turn on the camera.
Great review video!. Does it have the option to select for Date/Time stamp (on the each photo or video)? and does the lens have Macro? something that allows you taking clear picture within around 4 inches distant from the lens?
The music finally drove me away after 2 minutes.
I have been having problems with the shots I take, that I see in the LCD, but when I´m going to pass them to my PC, only the 1/2 of the shots appear, and a lot of squares empty, that I can´t open. I have lost a lot of pictures.Can you help me somehow?

Where did you buy that from? I am buying one of these but I have had a whole load of faulty and refurbished products that have come from Argos, Littlewoods, Very and even B&Q and am scared as I have wasted a whole 6 months of photography.

The entire video is focused on explaining the basic buttons only.
Not very commendable sir.
You can find a thousand videos with the content you're asking for. However, this video is one of the few in which I've seen someone actually give an in-depth explanation as to how the inner workings actually work. Which I'd say is rather commendable considering that this is going to be the control hub of your camera.
If you are happy with it , its fine Sir.
VINAY JAIN It certainly served a purpose for some. As you can see along the entire side margin, you simply can't avoid video demonstrations of this cameras zoom capability. Just check it out for yourself.

Sony have a 1'' full frame bridge model on way. I'm waiting for that. All the current models suffer bad picture quality with their 1/23' sensors - and this one is no different.

"Sony DSC HX300". I am here to diss. I like the Camera but the Lens Cap spring failed due to poor design. I called Sony, they dissed me by promising to call back and did not, referred to me to their web site to buy one that will just fail again. I called again and they did not return that call either. Went to Best Buy and guess what?...... They were out of the 55 mm model because everyone is replacing the one that failed too. I have a lot of Sony stuff around the house including the first two 5 MP camera models they put out. Poor customer relations too late on an item that should not fail and I need the cap to keep dust and stuff outta there. Camera OK, lens cap crap.
sony hx300 is much better
