*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*
Two years later this motor is going strong th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite
The waterline is waaaay too high at the stern. Move some gear (batter, anchor) to the front when alone in the boat. If "Michael" decides to go fishing by himself in anything more than a chop on the water...he wont be home for diner.
Lmao. Some suggestions for safety: •Distribute the weight properly & move everything, other than you & the motor, towards the front. •Move the stabilizers about 3 feet towards the rear. Or place them between you & the motor mount. •Move the anchor to the front & operate it using a round hook or a pulley & with the other end of the roop next to you. •Alternatively keep the current stabilizers where they are and add a second set of stabilizers much closer to the body of the Canoe (like fenders) between you & the motor, in the rear. Be safe out there, cheers.
Sounds like she was in the canoe with him earlier so weight was more distributed towards front....was just filming for demonstration purposes. Otherwise if he was alone, yes your suggestions make sense.
Fish Finder can you put an extension on the cables without hurting anything? I just got a minnkota but I don’t think it will reach without some kinda extension.
Nice set up... i have this same boat. Have yet to take it out. I want to get a trolling motor and outriggers, but my question is do you have to register it with your state even though the motor is electric instead of combustion? I did see a florida sticker on the side. Not sure what that is for.
Row row row you boat gentle in the drink....merly merly merly merly life is but a dream. I have c30 minkota ....put battery infront of the center chair yo balance canoe.
the stern became low after my wife got out to make the video, I also had the battery in the back which I did move, that helper a lot, overall , it does work out quite well. thanks for watching, and your input.
+Michael Kinney (The Kentucky Rebel) I fished in my canoe a lot when I was in college. I sat in the front person's seat since it was closer to the center of the boat, and I also had the battery on the opposite end, like you said you did. May not be legal if your registration numbers have to be on a canoe though-no numbers needed in my state though.
Soladaddy the only difference with the saltwater models is they use stainless bolts and a couple o-rings are a little bigger...I use my regular minkota in sac, for years now, and just make sure I hose it off really good and quickly after, never had a problem...

I purchased cheap 10 guage jumper cables from the Big "A" so that I could move my battery forward. The boat sits and tracks level now. Much safer.

Splice a set of jumper cables for an extension and put your battery in the front
For anyone watching- sit in the bow seat and paddle stern first. Your weight will closer to the center.
Nice view of the Sunshine Skyway!

Love your motor mount!
If he sneezes his stern goes underwater
Not much freeboard on the ass end, there. I sold aluminium motor mounts for such motors some 30 years ago. Never came to much.
Need to move the battery to the front

...and the anchor
Nice set up
The lazy way... I like it

yes you doif using a motor, but it is worth it

The stern of your vessel is REALLY LOW!

How did you make the outriggers?
Great Idea...
Is that a minnkota c2? How long did it hold up in saltwater? I'm thinking about using a C2, but concerned about salt exposure.
Soladaddy the only difference with the saltwater models is they use stainless bolts and a couple o-rings are a little bigger...I use my regular minkota in sac, for years now, and just make sure I hose it off really good and quickly after, never had a problem...
Now, will salt creep and corrosion void a warranty....? Probably ;)
outriggers do nothing if they do not contact the water.
put weight in the front of the boat to distribute the weight better
Nice!!!
An accident waiting to happen. He doesn’t even wear a life vest.
his body has a very good natural buoyancy 🙂
looks like the skyway in the back ground..
yes it is,we use to take it out in the bay
What brand of Canoe is it? Interesting out rigger setup? Here is my canoe powered by a trolling motor also sites.google.com/site/serenitysolarcanoe/
Put weight up front
just dont get the outriggers
Just buy a boat.
cant believe the lengths people go to, to make things work,,,, why not just buy the correct boat,? ridiculous
+South West Florida Aerial The fact that you even ask this question shows that you're not ready for the answer.
If you ever ask somebody why, the answer almost always revolves around one thing... -money.
That is a stupid question. People get enjoyment from creating things from their own ingenuity. You obviously not handy to ask that dumb question.
Where did you get engine from ?
