You did a superb job of outfitting your restored canoe for single-handed fishing! In my opinion, it's set up FAR better than most factory-built "fishing" canoes and kayaks. As an amateur boat-builder, I have just one suggestion for those who might be thinking about a similar restoration/conversion: It looked to me as if you used a standard polyester resin for your repairs and additions to the existing fiberglass canoe. Although it's more expensive, epoxy resin would be worth some serious consideration for two reasons. 1. Canoe hullls typically flex a lot while in use, whereas cured polyester resin does not. (Epoxy is better at this.) 2. Epoxy bonds far better than polyester to an older, existing) fiberglass laminate (i.e., it's a better "glue.") That said, your canoe will undoubtedly serve you well for a long time. Thanks so much for sharing your project with us. Chris (Maine, USA)
Nice one Chris thanks for watching ! I’ve just uploaded a new Canoe video for the updated modifications! Let me know what you think of that one 👍👍 thanks for the info
Love this and is now my inspiration as I just picked up a canoe that’s in need of a major restoration! Would love a step by step on this and what you did… I can figure most of it out myself but would love a guide 😅
It’s great, bro if you could have talked through some of the restoration and process that would have been better. The actually putting it in the water, to verify its integrity and check any deficiencies….the reality is not many people are familiar wuth fiber glasswork or custom jobs. Also your accessories on the canoe are cool, the way you just popped them in is a nice touch
You had me worried when you cut that bit off, but it all came together. Well done Andy. You need a camera pole on the front now to record what's happening while you're out in it. Tight lines mate.
Great job! Nicely done, looks like all your work was well worth it. Here in Canada fishing is great however summer camping means constant mosquitoes or no serums. I’d like to add a sleeping berth or arrangement to a stabilized canoe so I can sleep out in open water away from shore. Have you considered doing something like that? Steve (67yrs) Manitoba
Hi Steve, thanks mate. I certainly did and will be doing a water camp one night next summer ! It’s winter here in south aus atm ! Thanks for watching 👍
@@stevenrldenault7451 not too sure mate. i have EVA foam on the bottom now which helps with standing and keep the chill off the bottom abit. Should be good for camping in the summer months

Brilliant. You're actually amazing hahaha, well done Andy.
Bloody well done Andy. One thing we did to help load ours was bought a ladder roller like the tradies use and installed it on my rear rack.
Thanks Kevin, unfortunately can’t put anything further on the roof rack because of the spoiler on the canopy !
a hug straight from Brazil, like the video
The way it turned out looks awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks mate appreciate it

I'm curious about the outriggers. I've never decided what to use on my canoe.
I won’t go out without them mate, can stand up and move about without any worry of capsize - freaksports.com
What is the red past?
Please close an update to how this build went and is holding up. Great idea! I think the outriggers are the way to go
👍 I have a vid on the way mate
I’m interested in that rod holder you got there.
I’m doing another video on the whole thing mate 👍

Awesome

I'm somewhat shocked that you fiberglassed over painted areas ... I thought one had to go down to the fiberglass ...
In areas yeah, I read that if it’s not flaking and sanded and resin applied it’ll be fine 👍 it’s not failed yet
You do. I do fiberglass for a living and have been to school for it and that is step one
7:08 A couple of Nev dogs
Thank God Amen

@@auslifeandy you must have been hard at it, wasn't expecting this video for a while. You're some sort of tradie? Or just winged it?
