    Honestly you're the JayzTwoCents of motorcycles and that's why I come to your videos when I have questions.
    Also that older gentleman in the pickup was the chillest guy ever. "Just don't tear anything up and watch out for the guys working over there." That was awesome.

    Moore mafia does so good tuning from what i can see, not sure if he can tune your bike but it'd never hurt to ask if he'd be able to

    You’re the test, guinea pig for this bike so naturally you’re gonna have issues.
    But thanks to your sacrifice sooner than later the rest of us won’t have any issues.
    Thanks for that :D

    Doing custom engine work is always going to make dialling in the tuning a little more complicated. I love FI for stock bikes, or just a can swap, but I imagine your life would have been easier had the engine been carb'd for this build.
    That security dude had the right attitude... nice to see.

    Ain't Texas nice after a rainy spring? Down here near Austin, we still have bluebonnets out and I just can't believe we haven't hit 100 yet!
    Bike seems to be running nice, but that took a lot of work and trials to get there. I still can't figure why the Japanese OEMs aren't able to sell a 300cc bike with an honest 30hp from the factory.
    What you are doing is old school tuning methods with modern tech. If you enjoy the game, it's rewarding to get those good results. This has been fun to watch!

    Someone else mentioned microsquirt. I built a turbo miata on a megasquirt ecu(it's big brother) and its pretty solid. You can set it up to control fuel only or you can go nuts with ignition control too. It does auto tuning and integrates with various wide-bands, egt's etc. You can dial in throttle response, set up different maps with a switch input to go between. Use a flex fuel sensor to run E85 and any blend between. It's really powerful hardware and software, you can break shit if you aren't careful though. The initial learning curve is a little steep but once you're ahead of it you can pretty much do whatever you wanna do with it.

    All i can say about you Jake is that you are a great guy and yes. anytime you say anything about any product i do believe you because i don't feel like you're gonna lie because you have no reason to.

    I thought those new warehouses looked familiar, that back-road through there is pretty nice to ride through as well, at least when there isn't much traffic.

    Daytona sensors make a seperate wide band datalogger, the wego 3. It has inputs for tach and TPS and then can give you a percent correction map to use on your map. Always wanted one, never tried it myself.

    The dyno jet is really lacking. The Aracer mini 5 and wide band cost roughly the same and auto tune is amazing. A lot of people use them for these motors and they tune for any and all mods on the fly. Don’t even need to take it to a dyno. Greatly worth the upgrade in the end

  • @stevenbusk539
    @stevenbusk539 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope Jake does get this big bore 301 back on the dyno and can dial in the fueling and ignition maps to get it as good as it can be. Without a dyno report and tune this project is annoyingly incomplete. No one really cares about the absolute numbers, but its just about knowing that its as good as it can get for the engine work and modifications done.

    Yeah I don't mess with carbs anymore. My schedule requires that sometimes I may not be riding my bikes for weeks at a time, and it got tiring real quick needing to keep taking the carb off my DRZ and cleaning it. With my CRF300L, I never need to worry. Sure, it doesn't have the power of a DRZ, but it is light weight, fun, and reliable. Best of all, I never need to worry about if the carbs are gonna be gunked up cause it has EFI. I can leave it in my garage for months without touching it, and then when I have a chance to ride I just hop on and ride it without any worries. Maybe carbed bikes are fine for some people, but I simply can not justify all the time I spend cleaning the carb for it to be worth it. Not to mention, ethanol free gas is not available where I live, so that is not an option.

      He does a good job and can now do the EU ecu's. Problem though is that for every mod, you have to send in for a reflash. Living in Europe this will take time...

      I had mine installed and the installer had a big grin on his face riding the bike. I still haven’t run out the 87 fuel with octane boost so it may be better

    • @madbroindustries
      @madbroindustries ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikesGarageReviews if you have the 91oct tune its not good to run lower oct gas. Just pump 91oct. Its better to have a higher oct because of the mix than running 87oct

    A wide band gauge is super cool to tune carbs with! kosco I think is the brand I picked up. If you have the 18mm port, it is slick!
    Love your content, nice to have trust in your opinions. Look forward to the next video hoss!!

    My KTM 790 Duke is almost impossible to tune the engine because the ECU will eventually overwrite the modifications you put it. Whether it's a simple dongle, or a Dynojet set up, that ECU will bring the values to stock A/F. The only time that I successfully got a different tune and it stayed for longer was through the official Akrapovic Map installed by the official KTM dealer. All other solutions doesn't seem to work.

      @@TheGardenSnake it’d be killer, and considering how simple the DR is compared to the Honda, no ECU, not even ABS, you’d make good progress within a short period of time. 🤙

    I'm impressed with wha you did, and surprised you didn't destroy the bike.. but the fact that you are riding it and it looks strong means that whatever problems you had, you must be a pretty darned good technician. I can't remember all that you did here.. did you also port the valves and put larger valves in or just larger ports behind the valves? its quite insane what you have done there. its hard to judge where to make changes on a tune for something like that where you've just changed everything. where on the curve do you look? I think its funny that you did 5% everywhere.. you might as well test an additional 5% just to see what the curves do and measure the gasses present in the exhaust.. you could keep doing that across the board to see what happens-- obviously you'll know if you're rich. but as soon as you go rich, you can raise the rpm little by little through the dyno and you can see if there are any ranges where you aren't rich and maybe those are the ones you keep, and the others you knock back down. I'm sure you've beat this to death but I'm really curious about your opinion about the drz400 particularly the way you ride. I personally like the red color, the brand and so I am almost willing to swallow a loss in power for that alone as well as the loss in suspension and be happy with a "toy" that can't do a whole lot beyond sight-seeing.

      Stock! In supermoto set up that means I’m a bit shorter. Kinda like if you ran a +2 rear sprocket. In dual sport/adv set up I’m stock. In full dirt trim I run a 44 rear sprocket and a non oring chain.

    Might be worth contacting Haltech. No personal experience with them, but they seem to have a solid product line. FWIW they seem very transparent when working with creators. Often have in-house experts appear in videos to explain start to finish of implementing their systems.
