Nice job. I just bought a 300L and plan to see how the stock tank capacity works for me. By far best video on how to do it well done regarding the tricky connector to unplug the service manual suggest to after pressing the white tab to push down instead of pull up in that way the black retainers undo themself
The correct way and easier way to remove the fuel line is to actually push the white tab in and not lift or pull it out. Then when you reconnect the fuel line it simply clips into place. Much easier and no chance for damaging it.

Sure do, if you have the Acerbis tank or if you plan to install the acerbis tank, let them know when you order and it will come with the correct mounts to work with it www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/7590

Thanks for the great video. Stupid question but at 7:52 the vent is at the bottom of the tank on the original one. On the Acerbis it's obviously at the top (on the cap) How can the vent work at the bottom of the tank? There's always fuel covering it so air can't flow? Or is fuel meant to go through that hose and there's a mini reservoir somewhere with enough space for expansion?
@@Woodzman thanks. Yeah I saw these I might have to do the same. I wonder why they even have a short hose on it, they could just do a cap (that doesn't leak, unlike the locked caps from acerbis).
I just can't stand the idea of having that fuel hose coming out from the cap/top of the tank, is it only me? Would sacrifice those extra miles only for this 😅
Hi, I'm planning to buy this tank but I'm a little doubtful because my CRF currently has a Zeta radiator guard installed, can this tank still be installed on my CRF? Please advise, thx 🙏
I’m not sure about the Zeta Radiator guards, I do know that if you have flatland racing guards the. You order the tank kit from CRFs Only made for the Flatland radiator guards. Basically they dust send some modified brackets for the flatland guards.
Nice install video. I have a question re capacity and electronics. Since it doesn't register the extra capacity on the fuel gauge, does it register/change the range or mpg's on the odometer end?
Oh yea that still is the same, it’s just the top half tank takes a while to drop on the gauge so after you uses about 1.6 gallon then it still shows full witch is like the stock tank capacity
Always wanted to see a small bike with a big(ger) fuel tank cause of Arizona😂😂 One of the reasons I got me a GS Adventure…😂 Good stuff sir. Thanks for sharing this… Now I may get a CRF and learn how to ride dirt…🫡🇺🇸🌵
Yes they do and I think I can flip the brackets around and move them forward a little to stop it but my signals are the Thailand LED style and are mounted to the triple clamps
Thanks for the response. I have the same lights and took them off because they were preventing the full turn. I have been using the lights in the Zeta hand guards but I prefer the ones on the bike so I’ll have to try flipping the brackets.
Any updates on this new tank? Question does it have a gasket where the fuel pump goes into the tank? Does the bike feel overly top heavy and wont the fuel float level get messed up eventually because its force higher with more fuel? Meaning its flexing more than originally intended.
Love it, it’s probably the best thing I have don’t for the bike, yes there is a gasket. It don’t be any more top heavy to me, but I maybe just haven’t noticed. The extra fuel is super nice.
@americandude3825 oh yea it’s a huge difference over the stock tank, my boys still have stock tanks and when they are down to 1 bar more be still says full tank witch means that I still have about 2 gallons left
I find Acerbis 3.6 gal tank a bit ugly, needlessly large and not so neatly built. I really don't like the plastic cap that looks the same as those on cheap plastic fuel cans. The other option is IMS. Better built, better looking, but just too small. 2.5 gallon is too little over stock 2.1 gal. It makes it almost pointless to buy and install. I wish there was a middle way tank option around 3.0 gal that could fit original tank cap. That would do 200 miles / 300km fuel range that is good enough for most places in my part of the world.
I had the IMS for n my 250L, the fit of the IMS is not nearly as good as the Acerbis and having to put the metal brackets on the IMS is dumb. I think the look of the Acerbis is great. I would never choose the IMS over the Acerbis again. Of course everyone has their own opinion.

I am going to go out on a limb and say the C needs to be pushed in after installing. I am getting ready to install this very tank on my new crf300L. I will let you know what I think. I am a mech engineer.
@@TrustworthyExpert it goes bit more in when you take it out.
When installing you slide it out and then lock it in but not as far in as when you push it to remove it out.
Hope I made it clear
Where did you get Sena decal from?
Sena is my sponsor so they sent it to me
Hey Frank, will a tank bag fit the new tank?
Fits perfectly! I have some pictures on my Facebook facebook.com/100063455441736/posts/pfbid02uc8vzrzg9T1xTNBjZGaztFnaW4wjDHbgsALnnctY9Y74YHELkaZrx4Xzv5crdnR4l/?mibextid=cr9u03
Thanks, I just installed my acerbis 3.6 tank. Rigg tank bag fit right on it.😊
I guess this 14 L tank is lighter than the oem one?
Thank you for your channel.
Oh yea it’s definitely lighter weight, I didn’t weigh it though. Of course because you add more fuel, it would actually make your bike weight more lol. The tank is sweet though
LOL I just made an install video of the same tank. Only difference is my is the natural color and my video is in cue to be released in a couple of weeks.
It’s awesome how the tank fits, Acerbis definitely did a great job with it.
Thanks for watchin
Acerbis sells a locking cap separately. Do you happen to know if it would fit this tank for the 300L?
I have heard they do but I’m not sure if it fits
@@Woodzman I emailed Acerbis with their part numbers, and they confirmed that the locking cap will fit. I don't care about the lock so much; I don't like vent tubes!
@ProjectMat66 that is good to know!
@@ProjectMat66 Thanks for that info. If I replace it for that lockable one, what do I do with that stock vent tube part? Is the tube fully removable? (now that I'm thinking on it, perhaps is the one I see stiking at the bottom of the bike) Sorry, noob here.
Thank you Frank for sharing this helpful video. I am wondering why the gas line has to be external?
Your welcome!
You mean the vent hose?
The stock tank has a vent hose also it’s just located on the bottom of the tank. I actually took off that long hose and put one of these on:
amzn.to/3WXqMxh
Can you explain how this worked with out the long hose and the silver connector that comes with the kit? What do you do at the bottom to seal it off if you are only using the short vent hose at the gas cap. I’m getting ready to install and just need guidance on how you did it without the long hose connected at the bottom. Probably a dumb question but never done before. - Thanks in advance
@jeffs8387 I actually went with a short hose and a vent cap on top of the gas cap. It works great. amzn.to/3AWmCg6
So what did you do with the vent tube at the bottom of the tank since you didn’t connect to it? That’s the part I’m missing. Does it get plugged somehow?
@jeffs8387 I removed mine totally. I unplugged it from the top and bottom of the charcoal canister and capped off the two nipples on the canister
Hi, congratulations for the video, a question, do you have the link to buy the radiator guard? Thank you very much.
Sure do, if you have the Acerbis tank or if you plan to install the acerbis tank, let them know when you order and it will come with the correct mounts to work with it www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/7590
@@Woodzman thank you very much for the advice, very kind, greetings from Italy
@ilmototurismoitaliano your welcome! Thanks for watching
Which tank bag can you fit with this tank?
I have the Nelson Rigg hurricane dual sport tank bag, fits great and it’s 100% waterproof and lifetime warranty. Go to this link and use code WOODZMAN and you save 25% off your order. Orders over $50 gets free shipping www.nelsonrigg.com/se-3060-hurricane-enduro-tank-bag-1-detail
Thanks for the great video.
Stupid question but at 7:52 the vent is at the bottom of the tank on the original one. On the Acerbis it's obviously at the top (on the cap)
How can the vent work at the bottom of the tank? There's always fuel covering it so air can't flow? Or is fuel meant to go through that hose and there's a mini reservoir somewhere with enough space for expansion?
It connects to a tube inside the tank that goes to the top
@@WoodzmanOh I see, that makes sense thanks!
Such a pitty that Acerbis did not replicate that tube :(
@Tony-kf8qy I took that link hose off and I just had a short tube with a valve. Works great. amzn.to/3x5hPqx
@@Woodzman thanks. Yeah I saw these I might have to do the same. I wonder why they even have a short hose on it, they could just do a cap (that doesn't leak, unlike the locked caps from acerbis).
@Tony-kf8qy I cut the hose on mine as short as I could make it
I just can't stand the idea of having that fuel hose coming out from the cap/top of the tank, is it only me?
Always wanted to see a small bike with a big(ger) fuel tank cause of Arizona😂😂
One of the reasons I got me a GS Adventure…😂 Good stuff sir. Thanks for sharing this… Now I may get a CRF and learn how to ride dirt…🫡🇺🇸🌵
Yes the large tank will make a huge difference. I should get close to 300 miles on a tank.
I really think the Acerbis tank looks good on the bike also
@@Woodzman it really does!! Great install !!
Thanks for the video. Do your front turn signals hit the tank and prevent the bars from making a full turn?
Yes they do and I think I can flip the brackets around and move them forward a little to stop it but my signals are the Thailand LED style and are mounted to the triple clamps
Thanks for the response. I have the same lights and took them off because they were preventing the full turn. I have been using the lights in the Zeta hand guards but I prefer the ones on the bike so I’ll have to try flipping the brackets.
@thejayman587 yea I haven’t tried it yet but I’m thinking it will work
Any updates on this new tank? Question does it have a gasket where the fuel pump goes into the tank? Does the bike feel overly top heavy and wont the fuel float level get messed up eventually because its force higher with more fuel? Meaning its flexing more than originally intended.
Love it, it’s probably the best thing I have don’t for the bike, yes there is a gasket. It don’t be any more top heavy to me, but I maybe just haven’t noticed.
The extra fuel is super nice.
Know the Weight difference of the hardware?
I have no idea
Great video. Very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for watchin
If you got long distance why didn’t you buy the rally with the bigger tank,or do you just like working on bikes
I just don’t care for the rally, I like for my headlight to turn with the bars. And I just don’t care for the looks of the rally.
Rally weighs more, cost more, more plastic to replace in event of tip over.
Will this tank fit 2018 Crf 250 rally ?
No not at all. They may make one but I’m not sure
acerbis makes a locking gas cap for all thier tanks it 50 bucks though
Yea I just don’t really see a need for a locking gas cap. Some people depending on where they park there bikes may need one.
What’s your average mpg? Great great video!
My average is 70-72
@@Woodzman it’s comforting to know you can get ~225 miles on a tank. Allows exploration!
@americandude3825 oh yea it’s a huge difference over the stock tank, my boys still have stock tanks and when they are down to 1 bar more be still says full tank witch means that I still have about 2 gallons left
I don’t mind the small amount of fuel in my 300L … so far. ;)
I didn’t until I move to AZ
I don't understand why honda don't just put a bigger tank on in the 1st place! Like the Rally
It would be nice
hello @WOODZMAN Do you know if that tank can fix on CRF250F? @WOODZMAN
No it doesn’t
Great video, thank you.
Thanks for watchin
@WOODZMAN - I'm picking up a '21 300L -- with 3,200 miles on it -- on monday.
@Davran2742 super sweet, Congrats!
