    I know this is an older video but I have to tell you that your reviews/flip through shave been such a blessing for me. My family has decided to go with my fathers world this coming year (6th and 3rd grades). Thanks for the content!

    I am considering Level 3 for my 3rd grader next year, and your flip-through was so helpful! Thank you! Also, I really love your glasses! :)

    This was an excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I graduated three homeschoolers and we used something very similiar all the way through: Queen Homeschool Language Lessons. All three are in college now and thriving in writing classes. I have two little ones in the third grade now (ages 7 and 8) and I am now using Language Lessons for Today 2. It's very similar, I do believe we will have as much of an excellent outcome as with my older kids, however I LOVE that this curriculum has a table of contents (for my peace of mind) and also that it's been modernized just a bit.

      I've never heard of the Queens curriculum. We love language lessons too!

    Are these the same as the old Emma Serl hardcover books? I have the Primary and Intermediate language lesson books by Emma serl. And not much space lol so I just like that they're tiny.

      @@HomeschoolandGrace Did you use Spelling Power? Also I'd love to see Writing Skills for Today. 4th grade is the grade level I'm looking at for the Writing Skills for Today. :-)

    I think you are right about Language Lessons for Today grade 2 that the only change is the cover. We have the old one as well though so I am not 100% sure.
    For those that are concerned with MFW not having a strong enough Language Arts program I disagree. It is just a very gentle approach but I really feel they retain the information. Our girls read, comprehend and spell several years above their grade level.

      Oh no, the end of your message was cut short. Yes, I love how gentle the approach is and don't feel like my girls are missing out at all.

    Thanks for sharing this ☺️ This is my first year using gr 3 & 5. So far so good. Really different from what we were doing last year. But we like this. As far as a full language arts you should point out that there is separate writing program starting in gr 4 😉 Anyway, your videos have been so great to watch as this is my first year with MFW for my gr 1,3&5 kids! ☺️ Thanks! And keep them coming!

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, I should have added in Writing Skills. I will have to do a separate video on that. 😊 I'm so glad that they have been helpful! Thank you for watching and have a blessed school year!

    Hi, can you do a review comparison of MFW Language Lessons for Today vs MB Language Lessons for Living Education? Plus comparison of MFW Writing for Today vs MB Writing Stands? Thanks

    Thank you for sharing 😊 does Oregon require State testing for homeschoolers? (I grew up in Oregon but was always public schooled, so I did standardized testing yearly anyway). I now homeschool my girls in Washington and we have annual state testing requirements. I'm curious how well you think the MFW curriculum might prepare for testing? It isn't a big factor for us, but it is something I need to consider with curriculum. Thanks!

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not had to do state testing yet, and Oregon does require it as well. My oldest will take her first one this summer as a 5th grader, we were under a charter when she was in 3rd grade and were able to opt out of testing then. The curriculum I feel it is very thorough in teaching the basics of English and should prepare them for testing. You also could call My Fathers World and ask their thoughts on it. Sorry I can't answer from experience, but I can say, I am confident she will be prepared for any english or reading portion of the test.

    Looking great! Do you have your student write in a seperate composition notebook so the workbooks can be used over and over?
    Also, do you use a different Writing curriculum? Or wait they get older?

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I do have them write in a seperate notebook. We will reuse the books for each student.

      I missed the 2nd question. We use Writing Skills that starts in 4th grade from My Fathers World.

    Is this something I need to sit down and do with my student? Or is this something they can do independently starting at a certain grade (like 4th?) I have school age kids so I'd need 3 different grade levels going.

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It depends on how strong of a reader your child is and how well they follow directions without you. I walk through the lessons with each of my children, they really take no longer than 15 minutes to teach and many times less than that.

    Is MFW all you use?

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, for our core curriculum and language arts, it is all we use. I have one daughter who did not do well with their suggested math, so we did switch math to a different curriculum for her. 😊

    • @Dreblueskies
      @Dreblueskies 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Homeschool and Grace Thank you! I’m so torn between MFW and a pure CM style. I plan on going with right start math for my child so Math is no worries.

    • @HomeschoolandGrace
      @HomeschoolandGrace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard great things about Right Start Math! I don't have much knowledge on a pure CM style, other than Simply Charlotte Mason I have heard of. Let me know what you decide on I don't think you can go wrong with either curriculum! God Bless!

      Homeschool and Grace My thoughts exactly, they are both great! SCM is the company I’m leaning towards.
