When I was a kid, we had an asparagus fern in the garden. It's apparently v difficult to grow, but it just grew easily in our family garden. The nicest thing was just to snap it straight off the plant and eat it raw. My mum claimed "we" didn't like it (the term she used whenever she didn't like something is that we all didn't like it), but I just sat in the garden and ate it. My dad never used pesticides in the garden or anything. It has a very short season, but was 100% naturally grown. I tried to grow it years later, but it "survived" one year and died the next.
Supermarket asparagus isn't a patch on it. Happy memories. 🙂

What great memories! My mom had a garden at my Uncle's farm when we were growing up, but never grew asparagus. Maybe I'll give that a try one day. I bet it's delicious right off the plant, just like peas!

@@TheSaltedPepper Straight off the plant is beautiful. Sweet, crunchy and so fresh.

I'm charged with making asparagus for my family holiday get togethers. I steam briefly and then roast at 450 with a little oil and crushed garlic until it gets a few brown spots.
We have one family member who prefers canned asparagus but he is shunned by the rest of us.

I have only eaten asparagus once in my life and to be honest didn’t care for it. I know I’m strange but oh well. I also don’t like my green beans crunchy, I was raised with green beans cooked for awhile with a piece of bacon.

That's not strange, many people don't like asparagus and like soft green beans, it's just a personal preference. I will say if the asparagus wasn't cooked right or out of a can, that could be why you didn't like it.

Feedback: it took too long to get to what I came here for - how do I use the Ninja for steaming asparagus. 13 minutes is too long a video to answer this question. I think about 40% of content and time could be cut out of this video.
