I roasted garlic wrapped in parchment paper instead of aluminum foil, as I am concerned about heavy metals in aluminum foil and it works great. Thanks for experimenting for us!
Like everything else in life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Taste in food is the same. What you like others might not like or care for flavor/flavour wise. Roasted Garlic doesn't have the same flavor/smell that raw Garlic has. It's really wonderful and you can just eat it plain with no problem. It's almost like candy imo. like a really savory candy instead of sweet.
Karen West exactly! It smells delicious and it taste delicious! In the winter time when I can’t get over a cold, I put one garlic clove on either side of my mouth and chew on them and the next day I’m 100% good as new!😊
Hi Louise. I’ve made roasted garlic now many times in my Ninja Foodie since watching you do it last year as part of another recipe. They are fabulous! I squeeze all the cloves out carefully and put in a little mason jar and add a little extra virgin olive oil. This helps to keep them soft and as a bonus, I end up with garlic infused oil for salad dressings 😁. Thanks for the recipe!
Thank you Louise for this awesome little recipe. I love roasted garlic, and when I feel a cold or cough coming, I will eat an entire bulb ~~~ Done that for 60 years on advise of my very wise mom.
#Awesome Love this video! Had been wondering about roasting veggies, using aluminum foil & what pan to use. Gotta say, Louise, aside from your wonderful recipes & knowledge of the Ninja Foodi, your voice has such great inflection & tone, w/out skipping a beat, of course. You are a natural for commercials & voiceover dialogue👌 Many Thanks & Happy Mother’s Day❤️💐🎁🌹🍰🛍🎈🌺
Awesome! I followed your directions for roasting garlic from one of your other recipe videos, but it's always great to see you do it. You always give us great extra tips and pointers as you talk us through the cooking process.
The salt and pepper boxes were a gift from my husband and he got them at Bed Bath & Beyond, but you can also find them on Amazon, here is my affiliate link: amzn.to/3RJpnFY I can't remember the brand of olive oil and I'm not home right now, but I bought it in Chicago. Before that I used Sam's Club brand.
Hello and good morning, thank you for showing us how to roast garlic! It is definitely one of my favorites!!!! If I may ask a guestion , my husband just purchased a Emerils unit not knowing there was a Ninja foodie, which is sad because we own all ninja appliances so far, and we really like them. However, are your recipes and teaching also able to work for the Emeril unit? I am brand new to this and have just found your channel recently and love it!!!! So I am in hopes that I can cross use them for help in my kitchen. Thank you for your time and teaching, it really helps me. (Bad cook)! Looking forward to your response, have a blessed day!!!!
I don't know that much about the one Emeril has out, so that is hard to answer. I would think the recipes would convert just fine though if the settings are the same.
It's funny, I grow garlic every summer because bees and butterflies love it, but when it comes to using it in my "secret Italian sauce", I buy dehydrated garlic and rehydrate it before I use it. What is so special about my sauce? Since I never make it the same way twice, its a surprise to me every time too! And respect for those who walk throughand can still pay their mortgage, YOU are my heroes.!!
Thank you! How about fried garlic that ends up crunchy. I know one restaurant chain mixes fried garlic with the balsamic vinegar, EVOO, and Italian seasonings for a bread dip for crusty bread.
I had the same issue with the paper skin sticking to my finger when squeezing so I put a damp paper towel once and the other time a damp kitchen cloth to wipe my finger on...magic.
Probably 1-2 bulbs of roasted garlic would make a good compound butter with 1 stick. You really can just go by eye with this and add as much or as little as you want.
Just know that roasted garlic gives a completely different flavor to things, so there are times when minced or chopped garlic is what you want. Personally, I love roasted garlic more than any other preparation.
The idea is to develop the Maillard reaction (browning) which gives roasted garlic its flavor. I've seen some recipes for PC garlic, but I haven't tried it so I'm not sure how it compares.
@@TheSaltedPepper Gotcha. I tried it last night after I commented because I was curious and haven't seen to much lol. PC high 7 minutes followed by 370 air crisp 10-15 minutes. I didn't wrap it in foil after PCing either and the result were great. Anywho thanks for they great videos as always
Ok so your gonna laugh. I roasted my garlic when making your shrimp scampi recipe. But I cut the bottom of garlic instead of the top. Because I did not watch this video first! Lol. It still worked out garlic was roasted perfectly! But was falling apart! At least no w I know why!
I love garlic, however I cannot stand that over garlic flavor in my mouth that’s leftover sometimes if there’s too much garlic in something. I decided to taste it because you said it taste like candy. I about threw up in my mouth. It did not taste like candy it tasted like garlic. Lol But on a good note it’s all done and yummy for my recipes.
Oh no! I love garlic, so to me it tastes like candy. LOL If it still had a strong garlic taste, it might not have been cooked long enough. I know you will love it in recipes!
Maybe it was old and started to dry up some? I'm not sure because that has never happened to me. Are you sure you cut the right end? If you cut the root end, they would fall apart.
Who TF could give this a thumbs down?! I wanna live with this lady! Love her videos and her vibe.
Absolutely!
Agree 100% Her recipes are Absolutely PERFECT and Oh so Yummy
ok
Dot Hill here.... I am roasting some tonight. I have never roasted garlic in my life. Smells so good.
I roasted garlic wrapped in parchment paper instead of aluminum foil, as I am concerned about heavy metals in aluminum foil and it works great. Thanks for experimenting for us!
sorry, but I cannot believe that some people say garlic stinks! What a wonderful aroma!
I agree, I love it!

I added a sprig of rosemary on the garlic before putting in the packet and used as a spread for french bread
That sounds delish!

How long does your garlic and oil keep?
Make sure you are putting them in the fridge, they can grow bacteria at room temp.
The Salted Pepper - always do! They don’t last long though 😋
How long will roasted garlic keep in the fridge? I have some that’s about 3 weeks in fridge
@@crystaldurden2927 in the video she says up to a week

Thank you for this video!
I personally love making roasted garlic hummus.

It’s amazing I cook this all the time thank you Louise
I'm so glad!
Yay! Thank you!! Using this for hummus 😁Love your vids Louise !!
You're so welcome!
Thank you, I never thought about using my cooker for that.
You'll love it!
Wow going to have a go at this one for my garlic bread yum thank you ,I done your beef stew and it was beautiful ❤and loads left to freeze x
Had to come back to see how to do the roasted garlic for your potato soup, I'm doing today in my Ninja Hot Cold Blender, Awesome
Lovely roasted garlic
One of my favorite preps before I use your spaghetti recipe!
This looks delicious and you explain it so well :)
What type of olive oil do you use ?? I am loving all your videos ❤ Do you have a link for the container you use for your sea salt ??

Awesome that we get a fun video on this! Saw the roasted garlic recipe in your delicious spaghetti recipe and was going to do that today! Fun
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi love thanks for that was struggling with how in a Nija
Glad it was helpful!

That's how I used to cook all the time. I could never do it the same way twice. Now, I have to force myself to write everything down!
Thank you! I love all your videos Pretty lady!!! I have told my friends all about you 😃
Yay! Thank you!
Mash down the roasted garlic and it spreads well on french bread like butter. So good...
Perfect with a steak or salad
Sounds great!
Greta video I wanted unique recipes. I tried turmeric powder while roasting. Also rosemary.
We have the ninja foodie double basket air fryer. What are your suggestions for roasting garlic in that machine?
Here you go: thesaltedpepper.com/air-fryer-roasted-garlic/
I love that wood cutting board. Where can I find one like it?
They have them on Amazon, here is the link: (affiliate link) amzn.to/3yPAaqH
Thank you! How about fried garlic that ends up crunchy. I know one restaurant chain mixes fried garlic with the balsamic vinegar, EVOO, and Italian seasonings for a bread dip for crusty bread.
That sounds good. To fry garlic, just remove the cloves and peel them, then fry them in oil. I would use a lower heat so they don't burn.
The Salted Pepper thank you so much. I really enjoy your videos and recipes!
I will be eating this just as it is, I love garlic 🧄
It is so good spread over toast!
I’m trying this as I type this. Very first thing doing in my ninja..
Question: why do you paste it to freeze it vs just squeeze them out and do full?
No real reason, you can do it either way.
I had the same issue with the paper skin sticking to my finger when squeezing so I put a damp paper towel once and the other time a damp kitchen cloth to wipe my finger on...magic.
Great idea!
I just happened to watch this video (I'm trying to catch up lol) how hard is it to get the smell out of your cutting board after making the paste?
I just wash it with soap and water and have never noticed a smell.
Rub with vinegar and then rinse.
This may have been already already answered, but I freeze whole garlic and take out when needed. Can I do this with thawed garlic?
I'm not sure because I've never thawed garlic. I'd give it a try!
I'm in the UK my ninja foodi only goes up to 210 degrees. I'm making this now. What setting would I need please x
Your Foodi is in celsius, so the temp should be 160-165℃
Can i store them in the cupboard? How would you suggest i store them after?
All of that information is on my website: thesaltedpepper.com/ninja-foodi-roasted-garlic/
Can I use vegetable oil instead?
absolutely!
Could you roast garlic then dehydrate it to grind into a powder?
That's a good question, I haven't done it, but I'm guessing it could be done. Please let me know if you try it!
I like it
So if you add some to butter, how long will the butter be good for?
I would store in the fridge and it will keep for a while. You can also freeze it and it will be good for months.
@@TheSaltedPepper awesome! Thanks so much ❤
My granddaughter tells people “Garlic is my Nana’s favorite perfume!” She’s right!
That's so cute!
What’s time conversion in the oven?
375-400F for 35-45 minutes usually.
Can you throw the ‘frozen’ roasted garlic straight in the ninja soup maker (incase you forget to get it out the freezer to defrost)?
Can I make this in the Dual Zone Air Fryer and would I use the same temperature as the Ninja Foodi?
Yes, I would use the same temp and time. From my experience, the dual zone cooks pretty much the same as the Ninja Foodi PC & AC.
How much garlic to a stick of butter for compound?
Probably 1-2 bulbs of roasted garlic would make a good compound butter with 1 stick. You really can just go by eye with this and add as much or as little as you want.
just asking...what if we put individual cloves not the whole ?
They will cook faster and make sure they are well wrapped or they get hard and too brown.
@@TheSaltedPepper thank you
Thank you for this because I was so confused & would just skip that part of the spaghetti receipe lol
You're so welcome! I hope you give it a try! Roasted garlic is so good!
Oh, wow! I'm doing this instead of chopping and peeling.
Just know that roasted garlic gives a completely different flavor to things, so there are times when minced or chopped garlic is what you want. Personally, I love roasted garlic more than any other preparation.
Can you pressure cook it and then roast it to cut down the time?
The idea is to develop the Maillard reaction (browning) which gives roasted garlic its flavor. I've seen some recipes for PC garlic, but I haven't tried it so I'm not sure how it compares.

Where would y’all find a bag that size of garlic? 😋
I buy mine from Sam's Club
That's me making a large batch of roasted garlic butter......
