What I love more than Scanlan punching Orthax instead of Percy is that Orthax actually grunts in response to it 😂
Of course Orthax would have immunity or at least resistance towards non magical attacks. Scanlan is a magic caster meaning he’s the best equipped to combat against Orthax
Bigby's Clenched Fist is a pretty hefty spell - Orthax should at least feel it a little.

As someone who's seen the original Critical role D&D campaign, I was and still am so happy that they made this and are making a second season. It's so fucking good.
I've never seen critical roll. How accurate is the show to the original campaign?

Gotta love that no one in the show EVER refers to it as a gun. Small detail, but it shows they put in the effort to make this as good as humanly possible.

@@Comsing8 You can see his curse still exist when he fights the giants as he was able to shoot more than 3 times out of a three shot revolver, the deal is not resolved because a gun is destroyed. Pretty sure its a soul thing but regardless the hints are still there.
@@vesstig Just so we're clear this is wrong, unless they deviate entirely in the show, the connection is severed entirely in this exchange. Orthax makes deals with other people instead from here on. He's a Shadow Demon and an abyssal creature, they're pretty shitty by nature.

I was pretty scared that Vox wouldn't get a 2nd season. Very glad that it did.
I'd keep close eyes on news about it. It was renewed for season 2 at the same time it was picked up for any seasons at all 🙂. Amazon funded 2 seasons right from the beginning. Already green lit for season 3, now, too!

Season 2 in one month and two days letsgoo boyzz, recently I found this show on prime and gave it a shot, cuz I was looking for some good fantasy animated, not anime, TV show and this is just perfect 😁
I think the VA’s of Silas and Delilah are Percy’s parents if so nice touch

Orthax is such a good friend to Percy, it was there for Percy when he was at his loneliest going through ordeals and needed a purpose by quenching his thirst for vengeance. Orthax saw Percy for who he really is, the incarnation of indefinite vengeance. Poor Percy, Vox Machina the villains of the show took away the only true friend Percy ever had.

Why couldn’t Percy make a new gun? He knows how to make it now. I doubt the demon took his memory when he was killed. Otherwise he wouldn’t know who his friends are anymore.

I liked the demon, I was curious if maybe he could have made a 'deal' with it. Yes I know making a deal with a demon never works out exactly like how you wish. But I'm curious how it could have played out.
He couldn't have. There was already a bargain struck. Orthax was coming for payment, not for a bargain. Percy had already made the deal, and it was time to pay the piper.

@@VierAlder The bargain was basically, endless souls, after the contract was done Orthax was going to be forever embed to Percival, due to the Wiper having 1 more slot without a name, meaning or that bullet is for percival or orthax wants more souls to feast upon

This was one of my favorite moments from season 1.

tbh Amazon doesn't even deserve the credit for this show being good. They may have provided funding, but the entire creative process comes from Critical Role and the people at Titmouse

The first three episodes of season 2 have been pretty good. I like this show, I think it's a strong B+, sometimes the cheese feels a bit forced, doesn't translate the best to this animated show.
But I'm just learning that this is based somewhat on an actual D&D campaign from Critcal Role? And inside jokes from the campaign were included? I'm guessing they have a podcast or TH-cam channel that they've played on. If it's true that they went from playing a game to making a very competent show, then they should be proud.
It's like Lord of the Rings meets Castlevania.
My only minor complaint is Grog. The "dumb guy" voice doesn't do it for me, and his design is a pretty big rip-off of Kratos, but blue. But, he has some awesome moments so far(diving into the acid was a really cool scene), and the voice doesn't make me want to turn it off, I just think maybe a distinct, strong voice, I'd prefer.
Grog gets some pretty good development this season. Wonder how you feel after the newest batch of episodes 4~6.
Yeah! Not only is it "somewhat based," it follows a lot of the most important beats pretty closely! With some restructuring of course, but it's amazing how good of a show a dnd campaign made!
Also! Kratos got his full beard in 2018 and Grog got his years before that. I don't know the year, but Campaign 2 came out in 2018, so it was way before. If you look at Grog fanart from before 2018, he will still bare a strong resemblance to Kratos, so Grog's design, while looking very similar, is not a rip off on Kratos. At least the beard, anyway. I think the beard is what makes most people think of Kratos.
@Lydia Laskaris I've come to really like Grog, especially with the season 2 ending, can't wait for season 3. And I have learned a bit more about how Vox Machina became a thing with Critcal Role, the voice acting stuff, other campaigns, etc.
What reminds me of Kratos about Grog is the pale skin, the large, singular designed tattoo, the bald head and absolutely that leather battle kilt screams Kratos. But rip-off may have been the wrong phrase. It feels more like an homage, like we're all a part of the same video game/tabletop/pop culture hobby celebration, I don't think they were just lazy with the design or anything.

So...that hand is decorative now right? I mean, dudes got a hole in it the size of a friggin golf ball.
I imagine some of it was healed later, since they have two healers in the group. But it was done so much later that there was scarring and/or limited functionality even after healing, so he crafted a partial prosthesis.
It's this show's version of "Diplomacy", the lightning gauntlet that he crafted in the original campaign.

Sorry, this is a little pet peeve of mine. The only thing Amazon deserves credit for is recognizing it would be lucrative to acquire the distribution rights. Critical Role and Titmouse Inc were gonna make the show regardless. Amazon just gave them the funding to make more.
As much as I like the show....I wasn't a fan of the whole anime esque inner pain demon manifesting itself the way it did. It was kinda cringe for my taste.
With that being said can't wait for season 2!
