    this is one of the most coherent descriptions of flirting that ive ever come across. the chart at the end is a bit of a stretch but the rest of it is perfect

    Your overview of flirting is so clear and insightful! BTW bought your book and it's been a real game-changer for me. Kudos to you for sharing so many personal stories in it. That is brave!

    I appreciate this type of coaching and info because im so shy, I sometimes get mistaken for not being interested in someone.

    Hi Thomas, thank you for the very insightful and well-made video! I especially like the first part about teasing and warm ambiguity. I have observed this many times that people who are good at teasing tend to have a lot of dating success (of course, if they avoid pitfalls which you mention later in the video). For me, I've always had a bit of trouble with things like teasing and being playful and humorous. It is not so difficult for me to be warm and even vulnerable, but without the teasing/plaufulness part I sometimes end up being perceived as boring, I think. So I'm curious, are there any scientific papers/articles or other resources specifically about teasing/playfulness which you would recommed? I would love to dig deeper into that subject! Greetings and thanks again for the video.

    So, are you telling us there’re going to be videos on this topic made by a male psychologist who isn’t a misogynistic creep?? We are not going to be obsessing over cave stage of humanity and medieval nonsense? 😂 You do actually provide helpful information! We are here for it! 🙌🏼

    • @awesomebearaudiobooks
      @awesomebearaudiobooks หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Yes, there are many psychologists like that. I know you probably meant well while writing that comment, but honestly, your comment implies "All male psychologists are misogynistic creeps", which is misandrist and factually untrue.
      By the way, I am not saying anything about you, just this particular comment you wrote, it's very judgmental and sexist. You are probably a good person, but the comment you wrote is not good at all.

      @@awesomebearaudiobooks There is nothing to clearly indicate whether her comment is meant to be genuine or sarcastic.
      You assume sarcasm. If your assumption is incorrect, your criticism is misplaced.
      Why not try asking questions before levelling accusations and casting aspersions on the quality of someone's character ?
      Just a thought.

      @@williamparrish5002 I got stuck in a youtube recommendation loop of actually misogynistic content and luckily through awareness made my way out of it. I resonated with the original comment as sometimes youtube only recommends very undifferentiated and poor content. Dr Smithyman is fantastic!

      I often find texts to be completely misinterpreted as insults or implying something negative when they arent intended to be either and just some lighthearted statement.. You miss out on too many nuances and contextual cues with texts. That's why I ask my friends and family to call me instead whenever it's possible . There are exceptions with just brief exchanges.

    I’m wondering how this relates to asking someone out(cold approach)Because that is an obvious sign of interest. But I assume that’s just fine, and flirting subtly on the first date is the next step

    Re principle 3, if both people are following this advice, who sets the pace? It cannot be potentially lead to a stalemate where no one wants to move to fast so it fizzles. Sometimes you’ve got to move forward a bit faster than the other person is going.
