    Update via Acaia:
"Just to let you know we released a firmware update for the original Lunar around a week ago to let it also pair with the Orbit. You can find it on the Acaia Updater app 🙂"

Now you have both EG-1 & Orbit, do you have any commends on them? Maybe a good video idea :)

Thank you again for the review, Xris. We've passed your video and feedback on to our Orbit team and appreciate you taking the time to make and explain your thoughts. Please let us know if you have any questions going forward with the grinder or your scale!

I really appreciate your honest thoughts on this one. With how subjective these things can be, it often feels like people are afraid to say "I don't recommend this" or "I don't like this" when it comes to things that aren't objectively bad. But, I'm not looking for someone to just recommend the grinder I'm already looking to buy- I want to know why not to get a thing just as much if not more than why to get a thing.

Thank you Xris and Acaia! Xris, thank you for your honest feedback, and Acaia thank you for being willing to accept feedback. No grinder is perfect, but with open and honest communication the world of coffee can continuously improve!

Had my orbit for almost a year now and I love it. Yes it’s definitely for a niche audience given its price but you can say that every grinder over $1k. I like its tech functionality and its build quality is top notch which I’ll pay extra for.

I totally agree with all of your feedback. I def wish those pieces weren’t plastic and more than anything magnets instead of screws for the burr carrier. Luckily you never tried a burr change but god damn it was a nightmare with all of those screws and awkward angle. Aligning it was making me pull my hair out. But once you move past that the grinder worked great and i very much enjoy the app integration aspect.

So when you swapped the burrs, they weren't aligned anymore? Reason why I'm asking is because I'm debating whether to buy the Orbit or the P64. On the P64, I understand that you don't need to align the burrs after swapping

Another great review. I appreciate the fact that you present pros and cons in a way that comes across as neutral and without an agenda. At that price point, I too am out.

I love that you didn't hold back- there's a lot acaia missed here- mainly cost:result. the Lagom is still king in this area imo. Also having followed you now since roughly 2020, great to see you still putting out quality content. Keep holding these companies to a standard in your reviews, they need to hear it from somebody.

Great review and it dos look like it need some additional refinement to truly equal out the P64. Still in a pure cup performance perspective I’m not so convinced it’s great value for money after the DF83 came out, a grinder that we also can get SSP burrs for. The question is really if your just interested in the cup results why would you get this. It’s seems mostly then to be for RPM control, aesthetics, build and easy of use. I do admit I really don’t fancy bellows as we are kinda forced to use with the DF’s to keep retention low and I gladly pay a bit more to get that removed but paying that much might be to much to ask for.

Rdt is basically standard no matter what grinder you’re using.

Long awaited! Great review! would love to see a comparison with this and some other grinders ie. Niche Zero, Largom P64, Varia VS3 etc. Feel free to check out my review of the Varia VS3. ✌

Had my orbit for about a month now and while I don’t have a df83 compared to my ode It’s very quiet.

The P64 just is a "nicer" grinder overall, and can be had with SSP MPs from factory so you don't have to bother swap burrs yourself

Seems like too much was spent on gimmick features and not on some more quality components

For the scratches on the base Acaia should include some type of adhesive transparent protector like the one for cellphone screens.

it would work but would also be kinda ugly - maybe redesigning the catch cup could work!
