Lyrics-
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea
Westward from the Davis Strait 'tis there 'twas said to lie
The sea route to the Orient for which so many died
Seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered, broken bones
And a long-forgotten lonely cairn of stones
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea
Three centuries thereafter, I take passage overland
In the footsteps of brave Kelsey, where his Sea of Flowers began
Watching cities rise before me, then behind me sink again
This tardiest explorer, driving hard across the plain
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea
And through the night, behind the wheel, the mileage clicking west
I think upon Mackenzie, David Thompson and the rest
Who cracked the mountain ramparts and did show a path for me
To race the roaring Fraser to the sea
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea
How then am I so different from the first men through this way?
Like them, I left a settled life, I threw it all away
To seek a Northwest Passage at the call of many men
To find there but the road back home again
Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea
Tracing one warm line through a land so wild and savage
And make a Northwest Passage to the sea

Stan Rogers would be proud of this cover! Amazing job.
Singlehandely the best version of Northwest Passage i've seen yet
Never mind “O Canada”; THIS is the de facto Canadian national anthem. Bless you, Stan Rogers. And thank you, Wellermen, for a brilliant interpretation.
For those wondering where Luke is, he did NOT leave the band! Luke confirmed himself that he was super busy with work and school! He says he should be on the next track! 👍
Thank you!
Ah, and here I thought he went to the deigobah system...sorry he's probably sick of star wars joke's but I couldn't help it.
Glad to hear it
It's criminal how few likes this rendition has.
I think I just had a spiritual experience listening to this! This is gonna be on repeat for a while.
Fantastic! A great tribute to Stan Rogers.
Very kind of you to say
Maybe i was a seafarer in another life because this song provokes a lot of emotion🥺
Can't quite explain it.
Thank you for the wonderful rendition 🥰🌊
What a vocal thunderstorm, so powerful and harmonious, love this collab ❤️🔥🌊 🚣♀️🐋
That was the aim ;)
@the.bobbybass face always has such sass/emotion. It's great. @sethstatonwatkins was fantastic. Great song gentlemen.
Terrific rendering all round. Seth's distinctive melodic voice is superb for the lead vocals - he gets better & better ...
Seth is wicked!!!
There’s something really lovely about this rendition: slowed-down tempo, the harmonies, even more ballad than shanty. Like an elegy. 🙏🏻
This speaks to my Canadian blood. Thanks for that
May the spirit of Stan Rogers smile upon you. Absolutely beautiful!
That whole song shook me to my core and started tears flowing. Having studied music my whole life, I have performed in many places; but your harmonies and the lyrics struck a deep chord within me. Thank you so very much!
Stan Rogers did some amazing songs ❤
Garnet’s high notes were like shards of ice. You’ve done a wonderful tribute.
This!!!! I was trying to figure out why those specific notes were so unsettling to me, and this is exactly it. It’s just like massive ice shards. (And because I’m mentally a child, I initially typed arse shards and now can’t stop giggling)
I discovered this song only a few days ago. It is very moving and this particular performance is absolutely beautiful.
Bravo!
Well done. I had not heard that since Stan Rogers sang it.
Thank you!!
Magnifiques voix !! J'adore. Merci 🙏
Wonderful job you guys. Seth's voice was perfect for this. Another instant classic from you all!
This I genius
Love the harmonies 💕
Thank you!!!
You guys are absolutely incredible please keep being you. You're amazing😎🙏
This was really good dudes.
Thank you very much!
Sung with such feeling…I think this is the most beautiful rendition of this song. Great job on the new video, and great voices all around boys.
Thank you very much, we are glad you enjoyed it!
Methinks dear old Stan approves!
Very epic music, this was very like insperational music. Amazing work mates, can't wait for more
Thank you!!!! More coming soon
This is awesome. Thank you for this performance!
Thank you for your support!! :)
Well done chaps!
The harmonies are so beautiful! Awesome job guys!👍🏾
The absolute best rendition of this song hands down!
I love that you included the one background voice that rises during the chorus!
Stan would be proud.
Thank you!!
God, y'all have such beautiful voices
Gorgeous voices, magical to listen to.
I can't get enough of this.
This rattled my ribcage as I listened. Loved it!
This cover as absolutely amazing. A yt comment will never be able to explain the beauty of this song. You can get a real since of the emotion of the song. That is almost impossible to get. Phenomenal job gentleman.
Thank you! So beautiful 🤩
grand adventure song!
Einfach nur schön. Eine tolle Truppe - Chapeau!
I've never heard this before, but WOW
Well done!
Thank you!
Here's to the remaining passages "through lands so wide and savage!" They still draw the courageous.
What a beautiful and soothing harmony for the ears
I feel like your voices flow very smoothly in this song and blend in so sweetly
I enjoy it so much
Gonna need an Assassin's Creed 4 playlist from you fellows
We can work on that :)
One of my favorite songs *ever* performed with soul and skill by excellent musicians!
Here's a suggestion for another song - The Witch of the Westmerland (by Archie Fisher, or the cover by Stan Rogers)!
I would love to hear you guys cover the Witch of Westermerland, also “The Outside Track” that Garnet Rogers did so well
Thank you!!
That brought a tear to my eyes.
I love this so much! So much heart!
Beautifully sung!!
Thank you
Absolutely AMAZING, TALENTED, MOVING and soul-wrenching! The singing and performing makes me think I am actually on the expedition with Lord Franklin. I don't know why you guys don't have a major record label sign you all for a multi-album deal! Our gain, please don't stop making videos and music!
Love your rendition of the Wellerman also! I highly recommend the movie, "The Fishermen's Friends".
also! I am actually 3rd generation for serving in the US Navy. Son of a son of a sailor. Merry Christmas gentlemen! Please keep doing what you are all doing! 500 thumbs up!
I feel like I am on a journey and your voices are SENDING ME!
Haha, we are glad we helped you on the journey!
Great version, well done guys!
I like it! But where‘s Luke?
He was just super busy atm!
Subbed & Liked!
Goosebumps!
This gives be the same feeling as your Parting Glass cover, and i absolutely love it.
This is fantastic! Such talent!
Thank you
Очень круто! Спасибо!! Молодцы!
Thank you for your stirring rendition of this great Canadian song--not a sea shanty, nor a folk song, but a modern anthem for our country and a paean to its soul. But I wish you had included in the credits above, an acknowledgement of its composer, the late Stan Rogers (1949-1983). It would be only justice to a good man and great artist, taken from us far too young. My God, can it really be forty years ago?
Seth has such an incredible voice! I wanted him to do this song, but this collaboration is so much more beautiful than I could have imagined. Well done!

This was just ... beautiful. A joy to listen to. Every second was a work of art.
Beautiful!
Fantastic!! Chills all over. Thank you.❤
Thank you very much
Stan Rogers, one proud Hamiltonian with East Coast roots sung this masterpiece. 😊
great job
awesomme!
/happy The Terror fan noises/
Honestly, this is so powerful! I just have no words. I just imagine Terror and Erebus stuck in ice, three graves on Beechey Island, that face of John Torrington… Ahhh I’ve got chills again.
Bravo guys!
I don't know why this song has a strong connection to me, but I really like your version of the song, you guys are incredible.
Another masterpiece approved!!!!!!! I gotta show this to my homies!!!!!!!!!
You guys would do a lovely version of Wild Mountain Thyme. If you haven't already, although I didn't find it.
Absolute perfection 🥰
Thank you muchly!!!
Omg this give me the feel good bumps and vibes
Thank you :)
Beautiful
I just love love this song … makes me miss our sailing yacht, which we sold 5 years ago “down under”
It's wonderful ❤
I think this is my very favourite one Mrs H
sounds gorgeous as always. the tempo and pacing difference between the original and this does trip me but much love regardless
Amazing voices!
I hope you lads do all the big tracks again as more and more bassists come forth.
Becuaer I think this with the bass of misty mou trains would absolutely kill 🍻
Cool as always! Good music and video in the style of The Wellermen!😊
Not quite ping pong balls!
@@thewellermen Hahahaha! I have missed them…😂😂😂😂🏓🏓🏓🏓
Your voices are beautiful. I would love to hear this cover mixed with the Stan Rogers original! I think he must be listening from above❤️😭
Please do more Stan Rogers songs! This is just beautiful!
Glorious! 🎉🎉🎉
Great performances and mix! I wonder what it would sound like with one vocalist to begin with, then two, then three, and so on, add up over time?
Please consider doing a cover of Stan Roger's Barretts Privateers....
It will be amazing!!!
Love the content
I don't have the words to describe how beautiful this truly is. 🥰🥰 Just know that I loved it. And it gave me some Runrig feels. 😉
Thank you Laila !

Do you guys think you could do 'Lias An Lurighan?' Its a really cool Scottish sea shanty about a brave captain during a terrible storm. There is some debate about the title phrase since it can mean 'With Lurighan' or 'On the Lurighan' so no one's really sure if Lurighan is the name of the ship or the captain but either way its a really epic song. Here's an excellent example. The band playing it switches to another song at the 2.28 mark but its the best version of the song I've found to date.

We can certainly look into it! Thank you for the suggestion
@@thewellermen Even if you choose not to do it, I hope you like the song.
Great job, but you may as well do Barretts Privateers too while you're at it. Seriously though, that would be great if you haven't already.
