    In other words, a tutorial on how Westerners can finally do the Asian squat. (Not meant to be offensive but every Western backpacker that I have met seems to always talk about how they can't do the Asian squat. Nice tutorial for stretching!)
    Edit: Adding this since my comment is causing confusion.
    It's the foreigners who call it "Asian squat". I don't know if we have a term for it in my local language. Not sure about the other languages here. Also not sure what it's called in other Asian countries. For sure though, the foreigners and travellers call it "Asian squat". That's why I get curious because they really talk about it. I don't understand why it seems like a big deal, then they demonstrate it.
    I think it's because most are not really used to this kind of position whereas in Asia and other countries, it's normal. Although yeah, it is informal way of seating. Some might consider it unsightly. Very useful for temporary seats though. Your endurance to do it also builds up overtime.
    Edit: September 3,2022
    So after replied and I looked for a video, found this Asian Boss video. I realized that maybe they call it Asian squat not for the fact if you can do it, but for the fact that most Asians can be in this position for 30 minutes to 1 hour without standing or stretching. Then go on squatting for hours. I can attest to that since I do this for hours especially when I am in line for something.th-cam.com/video/mlVNjAEa3Tw/w-d-xo.html

      to be honest, doing the deep squat (asian squat) is pretty easy, you just gotta do similar versions of it many times. and the way to never lose deep squat mobility is doing stuff on the ground. forget chairs or bed, just go to the floor and do your shit there. basically how most asians do. the reason why westerners can't do them is because they stop doing things on the ground once they reach a certain age, and then everything is done on chairs. and bye bye mobility.

    • @LVX-
      @LVX- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@joatanpereira4272 They can also try it for resting. I do it when I'm outside and there are no chairs. When you're in line, it's good for resting for a bit until you get used to it.

      @@joatanpereira4272 Hahaha. You'll get used to it overtime. The fact is, you can do it! It's really useful and you can blend in in Asia. Especially when you buy at a small local store and squat to chat with the locals. (Pretty sure most of Asia has some kind of scenario like that.)
      *edited. Wow. I didn't notice that I wrote "buy a local store" instead of "buy at a local store". Such a huge difference. Hahaha. But you know, buy soda and snacks then squat to chat with the locals. Only if they are squatting though.

However I recommend seperating the two practices. An example would be to do your stretching at night/afternoon time and then some mobility in the mornings. Hope that helps!

    Years of martial arts and while I lack in flexibility in other areas... this was easy as hell.

    Telling people to do it equally on BOTH sides is essential.

    I had a lot of back ache due to tight hips. I tried various exercises from TH-cam but this exercise is the only one that single handedly relieved my back pain instantaneously.

    This is video is excellent and working because> it starts with a call to action, an invitation to sit down and do it. So I did it, and now will do it often. Thanks!

    I'm 78, I practice an hour of yoga seven days a week, I do an hour of weight training five days a week. And I get a lot of good suggestions from you on how I can maintain and improve even more with very little extra effort. Thank you. (I can sit down and get up without using my hands).
