I am a first new owner of a bmw GS adventure never own one before . The prices difference was about £3000 cheaper than the 1300. Me a the wife first sat on the 1300 but like the 1250 Adventure better. We took the 1250 a test ride and both loved it. And to be honest the 1250 is plenty fast enough for me and the wife for some long touring. I could not justify spending the extra money on the 1300. I got a really good deal with a brand new adventure. Personally I like the look of the 1250 and especially the adventure. And it’s so easy and lovely to ride and it’s certainly not slow. And the 1300 are having so many problems at the moment which is expected with it being a new model. Loved the review both of you 👍👍

Glad you enjoyed the video mate, something we are trying that most other channels dont seem to offer :). Im happy with my 1250 GSA too, no need to add another £8k of debt, so something that doesn't offer much more. Enjoy your ride mate.

Just ordered the 1300 Trophy don’t care about it being the first model and maybe having issues, that’s what a 5 year warranty and 3 year roadside assist is for.

Great review I hope you both enjoyed the ride. The weather is so naff at the moment I’ve barely been out this year !

Thanks David. Was a snap decision to make this as I was actually picking up my 1250 from its service.
Agreed about the weather. I’m done with the rainy stuff now. Please bring back the heat wave so I can go out riding 😁🤙

Great review, both Matt and Zoe. 100% agree about the lack of tail light. Stupid, stupid, stupid....... It's not often that a bike is more dangerous than the previous model but sad to say, the 1300GS is just that. Also contributing to this is the removal of buttons, necessitating time-consuming and distracting operations just to operate simple items (heated grips etc.)
After 23 years, 350,000kms and five GSs I can't see myself going down the BMW GS route again. Maybe my first non-BMW in 40 years???? For now my R1250GSA is WAY more than adequate for several years yet.

Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed this one, it turned out to be a longer video than we had thought it would be, plenty to talk about I suppose :). Hopefully we will be able to get out and do more of these style videos. Stick with your GSA mate, that's what im doing right now. Not looking at changing for the near future. If you would, what might you be looking at ?

Than you for asking -- it's a good question, and one I am constantly pondering. I'm of an age now, although still pretty fit, that I need to realise that I can't keep riding a 1250GSA for ever. I still ride like a 35 year old; can still pick it up even when it's loaded; can still do most reasonable 4WD mountain tracks; and can still manhandle it around when off the bike but I can envisage that not being the case in another five years, so I am really interested in the current range of 900-1000cc bikes as they'll be the second-hand bikes that will be available for me in five years time (no more new bikes for me 😞).
Any bike must be suitable as a good pillion bike as by that time my wife may well have hung up her R1250R keys as well.
The BMW F900 etc range have most of the typical BMW features that I've come to appreciate but the bike just feels like cheap piece of Chinese crap to ride. I rode my mate's Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro the other day and that really ticks a LOT of boxes. My heart screams out "Moto Guzzi Stelvio" but I'll never know until I ride one whether it fixes the perceived issues that I'll be facing in five years.
In the meantime I'll just keep riding the bike that makes me grin everytime I throw a leg over it!

Love the 2 up vids 👍 you guys are quite entertaining and it's a perspective rarely seen on other reviews out there.
The tail light/indicator combo seems to be a very bad idea.....I wonder if it's gonna be as bad on the new KTM's.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hopefully not as bad on the KTMs but we will see. They needed to make the brake light turn off whilst indicating, some cars do this and it’s easier to see em rather than both on at the same time.
Glad to hear you liked this style of video mate. We are definitely going to try and do more of these style videos 🤙

I just struggle to get excited about the 1300, there's just too many downsides to it, horrible front end looks, terrible rear indicators/lights combo, stupid Radar covers, looks like a Honda and they're silly money. I think the 1250s will become sort after as time goes on as the best of the previous generation BMWs whether thats the GS,GSA, R, RS or RT. I know they're aimed at different riders but my 1250RS in the sports colours looks so much nicer than the 1300 and it's sooooo much cheaper too so a bit of a win win (for me anyway and a bit of a no brainer as I no longer carry a pillion) As you've found out it's a great bike for 2 up touring on, but if you don't do that there's other options out there that are better at what they do and cheaper too 👍

I am also still really happy with my 1250 GSA. Prices of most top tier brands are getting ridiculous nowadays anyways. Look at the new F900 GS with the added bits it ends up being around £16.5k. Were is the affordable market for newer riders getting in to the game?

They're all at it now with the price increases since covid, Ducati put their prices up and everyone else saw an opportunity @@DSR1YT

Hit all the nails right on the head!! Love my 1250GSA but I think the 1250RS is an absolute gem. If I didn't use my bike as a cart horse and pound it over gravel roads it would be another RS in my shed (I already have an R100RS).

That’s why I love my 1250. It’s my work horse. That I can take down green lanes and not worry if I drop it. I’m not precious about it that’s for sure.
