Brighton has a special place in my heart, as a biker in the late 60’s and 70’s this was the place for mods and rockers to meet, later called skin heads and greaser’s. It was also a place for motorcycle and car sprints along the seafront from 1905 to 2023. My wife and I had our honeymoon at Brighton and visited on day trips many times, when it was a quieter town. It is great to see you travelling across the UK through places I have ridden many times, it is interesting to see how busy the traffic is now. In my early years bikers did not need to wear helmets, there were no speed cameras and little traffic. Great you are going to Box Hill, this is another Biker hangout I used to sneak out off school and ride to this location on my Royal Enfield 250 Continental GT. Have a great trip.
Hi John, Sounds like you have some amazing memories of Brighton! It sounds like the 60's and 70's was the time to be a biker!! -oh to be able to go back in time and experience that! 😎 Yeah even since we used to live in the UK we feel it's incredibly busy and housing estates have popped up everywhere. But also nice to see that important areas and landmarks still retain their former glory. Just googled the Royal Enfield 250 Continental GT -awesome looking bike! - A real bike that must have made you feel alive! Thanks for sharing your story and hopefully this series will evoke some more memories. S&E 😊
Hi, it's so funny to hear see you experiencing your native country as tourists. Perfect way to show us around. Oh and spectacular views from the cliffs. 😎👍
Hi Ruud, it was actually a funny experience for us too! We were amazed by how many fantastic sights there are that we had never seen before. So glad we finally decided to tour the UK and Ireland 😊
Watching back from the beginning and I rode to Brighton from my home in London on Sunday because it was such nice weather. It is really like a mini-London, yeah. It's grotty but progressive...like the capital. ☺️ But the seagulls are the size of Alsatians! 😁
Hi Betty, thanks or watching them again! 😊 Glad you had a nice run out on the bike. Yeah Brighton certainly has a charm about it and always nice to see the sea. The Pier is iconic too. Haha right! those seagulls are giant!!!
We are loving this tour and it is only the start of it. I bet it is so lovely for you two to be back exploring England again after such a long time away 👍👍
Yeah it's lovely to be able to take some time and really see the country. We soon realized there's so many places to visit with so much interesting history that this tour will give us a good overview and perhaps help us see where we would like to re visit again. Even in the first couple of days we saw so much, by the end of it we where buzzing albeit tired lol 😄
Very enjoyable romp through the south coast, and wonderful views of the famous chalf cliffs around beach head and the Seven Sisters, it sure is a great walk along those cliffs
I'm just along the road from Brighton .. keep heading west and come to Worthing. Lovely old Pier, nice promenade seafront and grab your self an ice cream !
That's a lovely coastline, must be nice to live so close to the sea 😊. Worthing does look a nice town -will have to pop by next next time. Thanks for watching
Hi, thanks very much 😊 . The views of Beachy head cliffs are spectacular and we didn't expect them to be so amazing! We had this feeling a lot on this tour as we kept on getting surprised by the natural beauty!
Hey Guys, the small round houses with the pointed roofs are known as Oast Houses or Hop Kilns, They were used for drying hops before they were sent to the brewery
Thanks Johan! Perhaps after watching the Heading west Tour you might add a few places to your camper destinations to visit list (presuming there is a list lol) 😊
You mentioned Staplecross at the beginning of the film. Thats where we lived before our move to mid Wales 3 years ago . Battle, where you went through (of Battle of Hastings fame) is the area I know well. Looks like you stopped for petrol at costcutter, Ninfield . Great to see East Sussex again……enjoy your trip 👍
Hi Jonathan, a really nice part of the country! Ah that was Battle, at this point we really needed to make up some ground as we had a fair distance still to go. Would have been nice to stop there and have a look around. Maybe next time . Thanks 😊
I follow you quite some time now but never had the chance to make a comment. I should have said thank you and congratulation on your work and what you are offering us but.... This time Brighton made it impossible not to responde. Spend three years of my young life 18-21 first time out of my country on my own back in 1986. The pier full of people the shopping mall and especialy the Odeaon which made me so sad to see in that state. Every week i used to watch all movies played there. I still rememeber some of them. And then there was a nice Disco on the opposite side of the cinema. So many nice memories . Thank you for that.
Hi Tim, thanks for following us and it's great to hear from you! So thanks for taking the time to leave a comment as it's most appreciated 😊. It's great how different places hold a special place in different peoples heart. We are so happy that the short feature we included of Brighton brought back fond memories for you and its great that this was your first experience out of your home country. We can only imagine how wonderful Brighton must have been in 1986 -it truly will have looked it's best then and it must have been amazing to have experienced this. Hopefully it will be back to it's former glory. We really hope you enjoy the rest of the series as we tour all of the UK and Ireland. Thanks again for your comment 😊 Sean and Emily
Great drone shots at Beachy Head, especially the one as you panned back from the road but you cut it short before Beachy Head lighthouse came into view. That would've been an epic shot, but you weren't to know. Enjoying the video though.
Hi Sean & Emily very pleased to have just found you. Use the shuttle quite a lot on our bikes. A few of us had a week in France only last week and when we ever get back we feel hemmed in given the space we have enjoyed in France. I live in Eastbourne so spotted that you cut in Pevensey Castle to your video when riding over Beachy Head. The hotel you see in the distance as you ride down through the bends is Bell Tout Lighthouse and some years ago it was moved away from the edge of the cliff. Your probably find videos on it on YT. Sadly it is also famous for other reasons. Because of cliff erosion the cafe you stopped at has had to be moved several times and that is why its still busy now. On a more positive note I was unaware of the cafe you had breakfast in so I will now have to have a ride to it. Stay safe & you have gained a new Sub.
Hi and welcome to our channel! 😎. Yeah the shuttle is great, so easy and quick without the faff of getting on and off the ferry. Yeah we get that, the amount of traffic after we arrived made us feel a suffocated at times, but getting on the country lanes was a relief 😊. Cool that you live in Eastbourne, must be really nice to have access to the beach like that and the surrounding cliffs are magnificent! Wow we had no idea that it had been moved, so thanks for the info. One of the things that's great about this channel is that if we are ever unsure of something or we don't have time to stop and research it there is always someone to fill in the gaps with their local knowledge 😊. Yeah the cliff top cafe was recommended to us and it's really nice -just be sure to bring cash. It's also next to the Battle of Britain Memorial which has a museum and a spitfire! -unfortunately we didn't have time to stop. We really hope you enjoy the rest of the series and perhaps some of our past playlists. Thanks for the Sub Sean and Emily
When you asked "do you know where we are" you were at the bottom of Battle High Steet, 1066 country. Should've turned right and taken a look at Battle Abbey but great trip through East Sussex, where I live now.
A nice area to live! Yeah you are right, but at this point we had been on the road and for a long time (we started the day in France some 2 hours away from the tunnel) and still had a long way to go so didn't really have time. Maybe next time 😊
Hi Jonathan! Thanks that would have been nice but we are back from the trip now and editing the episodes -next time then 😎. A really nice area to live is Bournemouth 😊. Hope you had a great time in Austria and the weather was okay for you (very strange weather going on here for this of the year) and give shadow's brother our best 😄
Thanks, yeah South England has some beautiful scenery, in fact the scenery just keeps getting better as this trip goes on -we were blown away so cant wait to share the rest of the trip 😎👍
Thanks Erik, it took a lot of playing around to get that to be as steady as possible but we are happy with the results -also appreciate you noticing 😊 We are not sure how long this Insta 360 trend will last, but for us we like the linear flat footage that isn't distorted with the Fisheye. For certain applications I guess they have their place but if it's any more than a reel I start to feel sick watching them lol 🤣
Another great video guys, looking forward to the series episodes to come, no more so than when you make your way through the west coast of Scotland, which is my stomping ground most weekends when I’m not abroad 👍
Hi Duncan, thanks very much! This series is only just getting started. We are really looking forwards to editing the footage from Scotland because it was spectacular!! We had sunny weather for most days on the West coast and i think at one point we ran out of things to say as it was so beautiful. Must be a fantastic place to live and somewhere that we could actually see ourselves living again! Thanks for watching and we look forwards to taking you on this journey with us. 😊
Box Hill is OK, and not far from there was a place called Newlands Corner, just the A25. I live in Worthing. I was born in Hove, next to Brighton. I recognised your South Coast ride. Birlin Gap was the stop you made near Beachy Head and seven sisters cliffs. I often park my bike near the pier. The other pier was called the West Pier. The North lanes are worth a visit. In fact, I popped over to Brighton today, I popped into Decathlon. I am going to the Vegan campout, and wad picking up some portable solar panels. I also went to Infintys in North Road Brighton. I hope you are enjoying your journey through Britain.
Hi Susan, must be nice to be able to pop into Brighton 😊. Wow Beachy head blew us away, we had no idea the cliffs were so spectacular! Would love to go back and do the walk along the cliff edges. We really enjoyed touring Britain and found so many places that we didn't know existed. We hope your Vegan campout goes well, the UK has so many great options -we were really impressed! Thanks for your comment and hope you hear form you again soon. Sean and Emily
Hoping you get to see cheddar gorge before you head into Wales for ferry , it's not much of a detour , but definitely worth it ,it's my local ride out and it's breath taking if never seen it before ? Fingers crossed, the west country has some amazing sites.
Hi, Spoiler alert....we do!😉 Totally agree the Cheddar Gorge was spectacular and was one of our last stops before heading over to south wales. It was a nice sunny evening too so we got some great footage too. Thanks for the Tips 😊
Fantastic 😊 can't wait for new episodes to come out , hard to judge where you are and time it takes to edit and upload videos. Keep up the great content guys both me and my wife enjoy watching your relaxing videos x😊
What an lovely story telling on this trip. Love your view and your experiences. 😊 Maybe you can tell us later at the endof this serie your opinion comparing the both helmets BMW and this new one from Touratech.
Thanks, glad our ramblings make sense 😄 Well they are both high end helmets so there's not a lot in it. We found the BMW helmet to be slightly louder than the TT one, however the lack of an internal sun visor on the TT one was disappointing. Both very comfortable and lightweight.
Yes we are aware 😎 -we are regular contributors to the magazine (actually we are in the last mag with the Norway trip). But no we wont be attending this year but maybe another year we would consider it.
Great video again! I'm really enjoying all episodes. It would be great the have some map views showing what was the route you took and maybe where you're going next. Cheers!

Nice tour; down memorylane. I love your video’s. I often wonderd where you came from in the UK. This is some background. At what age did you both left the UK for Basel?
You may find some of our UK petrol stations won’t serve you filling fuel sat on the bike and keeping a helmet on. It’s annoying and I say that as a fellow biker but some places here do suffer fuel theft.
Interesting, we didn't have a problem so far but i guess it's understandable if fuel is being stolen regularly. We always take the helmets of when going into pay though 😊
Hmmm I can’t remember which way we went exactly (route link is in the first comment) but I think we jumped onto the motorway for a bit as it was getting on and we still had a ways to go. Next time get the kettle on 😉👍🏻
Brilliant! At 18:22 you passed within 500 metres on my sister's house... she lives in Saltdean, just outside Brighton. You coulda popped in for a cuppa 😄
I get the impression that you both left UK for a very long time ago 😮 May I ask what year you both moved to Switzerland ? Nice v-log , a little behind though 🤷♂️
Hi Ake, yeah that's right. We moved to Switzerland 7 years ago after we got married. But before that i (Sean) had lived there for several years already and Emily had lived in Paris. Hope you enjoy the scenery of the UK 😊
@@SeanandEmily Yes , I really enjoy the scenery of the UK. And you both do a great job to show it. If we do our roadtrip to the UK we will have your v-logs in mind. Take care 🙏
Hi Marc, yeah we went with a Gore-Tex suit for this trip as we thought that it would be raining frequently in the day. 😉 Here's the episode were we get it: th-cam.com/video/HBi9llMO_zs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lOnPCR39YjJjzC8z
Local knowledge warning!! 😁. The first Harry Ramsden fish and chip shop is in Guiseley near Leeds. The brand was taken over some years ago and the original shop / Resteraunt is now owned by a chain called Wetherby Whaler. I do hope you have included a trip around Yorkshire in this tour, as quite frankly, you cannot do a tour around the uk and not visit Gods own county 😎😁.
We love a bit of local knowledge!!!! 😁 Thanks for clarifying that! Often we say the first things that come to our head and it's great when things are clarified in the comments. I'm sure I was misinformed as a child that the Blackpool one was the first lol 😂 Rest assured later on in the tour will include God's county - but we will be taking the long way. Up the coast of England, through south Wales, ferry to Ireland, make our way upto Belfast via the Wild Atlantic way and then ferry over to Scotland to ride the N500 before making our way back down through the Lakes and Yorkshire. Thanks for your comment and we look forwards to hearing from you again 😎
Yes I was going to leave a comment earlier regarding Harry Ramsdens but I got side tracked as my tea was ready. Mr Wobbley is correct, Guiseley was the location of the original restaurant. I can remember going as a whipper snapper in the late 70’s when we lived in the Leeds area. Happy memories of golden batter, soggy chips and if we were lucky a side portion of garden peas. 😂😂
It can be tricky at times -especially when there is nobody else on the road lol Some people tie a ribbon to the handle bar side that should be in the middle of the road. 😊

The part of the coast where houses are falling into the sea is on the East coast of Norfolk. A place called Hemsby is really bad. 👍

It's also happening on the Yorkshire (East Riding) coast.

Interesting, we didn't have a problem so far but i guess it's understandable if fuel is being stolen regularly. We always take the helmets of when going into pay though 😊
@@SeanandEmily if do you find the pumps don’t work or you get shouted at over the tannoy to take them off that’ll be why
From the cafe above Dover did you follow the A259 route along the cost ? If you did you could’ve popped in for coffee at mine in Dymchurch 😂
Hmmm I can’t remember which way we went exactly (route link is in the first comment) but I think we jumped onto the motorway for a bit as it was getting on and we still had a ways to go. Next time get the kettle on 😉👍🏻
Ps awesome defender! 🔥🔥🔥
@@SeanandEmily always happy to refuel fellow bikers !!
Brilliant! At 18:22 you passed within 500 metres on my sister's house... she lives in Saltdean, just outside Brighton. You coulda popped in for a cuppa 😄
Haha next time get the kettle on 😄 A nice area to live, must be great to be so close to the sea!
@@SeanandEmily yeah, she loves it! There is a walk at the bottom of the cliffs which takes you all the way to Brighton Pier.
I get the impression that you both left UK for a very long time ago 😮
May I ask what year you both moved to Switzerland ?
Nice v-log , a little behind though 🤷♂️
Hi Ake, yeah that's right. We moved to Switzerland 7 years ago after we got married. But before that i (Sean) had lived there for several years already and Emily had lived in Paris. Hope you enjoy the scenery of the UK 😊
@@SeanandEmily Yes , I really enjoy the scenery of the UK.
And you both do a great job to show it.
If we do our roadtrip to the UK we will have your v-logs in mind.
Take care 🙏
Thanks! The best is yet to come!! Ireland and Scotland was amazing 😊
@@SeanandEmily Bring it on ✊🥳
Are you guys wearing new motorcycle clothes….sharp? Marc, Quebec 🇨🇦🏍😉
Hi Marc, yeah we went with a Gore-Tex suit for this trip as we thought that it would be raining frequently in the day. 😉
Here's the episode were we get it:

Local knowledge warning!! 😁. The first Harry Ramsden fish and chip shop is in Guiseley near Leeds. The brand was taken over some years ago and the original shop / Resteraunt is now owned by a chain called Wetherby Whaler. I do hope you have included a trip around Yorkshire in this tour, as quite frankly, you cannot do a tour around the uk and not visit Gods own county 😎😁.
We love a bit of local knowledge!!!! 😁
Thanks for clarifying that! Often we say the first things that come to our head and it's great when things are clarified in the comments. I'm sure I was misinformed as a child that the Blackpool one was the first lol 😂
Rest assured later on in the tour will include God's county - but we will be taking the long way.
I must have got them mixed up, sounds like you've got some great memories of the place 😊. All this talk of chips is making me hungry again 😂
I won't be able to ride on the other side.
It can be tricky at times -especially when there is nobody else on the road lol
Some people tie a ribbon to the handle bar side that should be in the middle of the road. 😊
After Brighton/worthing you come away from the coastline in any meaningful way until you get past Southampton and into the new forest.
We had a few points we wanted to see as we head to land end, thanks for the tips 😎👍🏻
Can you listen to music on the road?
Yes we can and often do using the Cardo Edge intercoms we can also share music and listen to the same thing at the same time.
Love your drone shots but be minful of the very strict regulations in the UK where drone flying is concerned.
👍
Ich denke, BMW sollte Sie sponsern und Ihnen kostenlose Motoren geben😂
That's a great idea!! 😂
