I'm from the Springs, but work for the government and am always deployed. I love your videos. They make me feel like I am back home fishing with my nephews! Thanks for taking the time to create them!
@@fishingCOS I am not. Moved to Alabama/Tennessee about 9 years ago! My favorite lake is probably Guntersville, the fishing here is quite different! Still plenty of trout but I spend most of my time targeting bass.
I like going to Palmer a lot. I especially enjoy the trains that roll by. It really puts me in a good place. Thank you very much for enjoying my channel!
Spinney Mountain is my favorite as I target pike (the huge trout are nice too) but I also like Pueblo Res area (Res, Valco Ponds, river) for the number of species/techniques - caught walleye, white crappie, smallies, and a wiper with the same flicker shad last week in the res 😄. If you don't have a fishing kayak, highly recommend one for around here ..
I can't understand why they put that new fishing pier right in the middle of where most of the pike cruise. If you can get in the very back Northwest corner, some awesome bass back there...
Great question! There are sooo many different types of setups to choose from. My first suggestion if you are just getting into fishing get an ugly stick. Those are what I have been using. They are reliable and general purpose and extremely hard to break. You can also go to bass pro for a huge selection. You’ll want to take some time to talk to one of the sales reps there. I have found almost all of them to be super nice and knowledgeable. There is a fly shop on 24 before you go up into the mountains. I’ve never been there, and don’t know the name but I have heard good things and I’m sure that the staff is helpful. All that being said, start out with an ugly stick.

Beat me to the water once again. Congrats on a great outing
Thanks! We have many months ahead of us. It’s not a race! I hope that you have a wonderful fishing season.
I haven't had much luck at monument lake recently, but crystal reservoir has had some big trout with just a jake lure

I have not had any luck at Spinney or Pueblo Res. I'll keep trying!
I was there on may 2nd, was a great time, caught a bluegil, my dream is to get a pike.
I'd love to catch a pike as well. One of these days!
Monument has pike im on the prowl with the flys i have to get one love the videos man
I’d love to catch a pike. I’ve only caught one and that was in PA a few years ago. Didn’t even know what the heck I caught! Good luck and thank you!
Last weekend I caught a 3 foot long pike on 8 inch swim bait at monument lake.
Right on!! I have yet to catch a pike!
Awesome video! May I ask what size hooks you are using? Fished Monument lake the other day and a very fun lake and easy to get to location.
Size 6 I believe
After you put Power Bait on your hook dunk in the water for a second. I find it stays on better.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely try that. Power bait loves to fly off the hook especially with a hard cast.

Thanks for the tip!
Lake Deweese is my go to...i have more luck there than any other place i go...hardly ever catch stockers
Thanks for sharing. I just looked it up, about a 2 hour drive from Colorado Springs. I'll have to see if there is camping close by.
@@fishingCOS you can camp near the shore line..tent..camper or by any other means...
Great to know!
Did they get the water quality issue sorted out? I wanted to go there for muskie...
How long should your leader be when fishing monument lake for a carolina rig?
I would say two feet. Enough to keep it away from the bait. If you are trying to catch catfish, I believe they like to nibble for a while.
Do you have some shop suggestions that i can buy some reels from in co springs

@@fishingCOSthank you I went in to bass pro with 100 and they had some suggestions and I got me a rod and reel separately for like 90
It was a good place for fishing before the hoards showed up.
It does get packed. I always go in the morning during the weekday.
Insanely over fished and lots of trash. Better luck driving somewhere else
I always have a great, have a lot of luck. I do go weekday mornings when it is not so crowded.
