One of the young hawks fledged today and I watched as it flew overhead safely on to a tall tree in the park. That must be an amazing sight! Seeing three Red-tailed Hawk chicks in their nest across from Central Park must have been a special experience. Central Park is not only a beautiful recreation area for humans, but also home to various types of wildlife, including eagles. May the three chicks grow up strong and healthy in a safe and loving environment. This is an example of a natural wonder that deserves to be appreciated and preserved. 🦅🌳 #67

So awesome to see the young hawks stretching their wings above the busy street. Love how the parents have been able to make a nest in spite of the wires to keep the pigeons away (it probably helps keep the twigs together, even). It's proof that nature will find a way. I hope they all fledge successfully and become great hunters like their parents.
Yes, the wires are a great border for the nesting material... I saw 1 fledge yesterday and heard another nestling left the nest today. It is pretty special watching the parents care for their nestlings as well as the joy of watching the nestlings mature. I agree, nature finds a way and hopefully the young ones will do well in the city. Best regards, Cathy

I was surprised to find that they were nesting on man-made structures in a big city.
Yes, some of the hawks here choose to nest on buildings and others in trees. This building is across from Central Park where there is much prey for the hawks. Maybe the building is a safer and quieter setting than a tree in the park. Thank you for your great comment! Best regards, Cathy
