Hey! Reading Honest Faith with you and the other ladies made me want to be more a part of this community. I was so inspired that I posted my first video to share about my Victober as well!
Such a wonderful vlog! I enjoyed it so much. You're thoughts on the books were so honest and thoughtful, plus the nature scenes were gorgeous! PS, new haircut is AWESOME:)
Thank you for keeping me company while I do dishes that I really don't want to do 😂. I'm already halfway through the mound of dishes and have hardly noticed 🥰
Sounds like a very eclectic reading month! The only Victorian books I read were Honest Faith (which I really enjoyed reading with you!), and Wuthering Heights. I finished it on the last day of October, but it still counts 😆
This is just the Victorian books, so it was even more eclectic than this 😜 Finishing a book on the last day of the month totally counts! What did you think of Wuthering Heights? I feel like it’s relatively polarizing.
@@beautifulminutiae I can understand why Wuthering Heights is polarizing, especially if people go in with the wrong expectations, but I actually really enjoyed it despite not liking hardly any of the characters 😂 Well, maybe enjoyed isn't quite the right word, but I was very drawn into the story and got a lot out of it.
I always enjoy your videos, and I loved the content in this one, too, but found the background music very distracting. Could be just me, but I thought I'd mention it in case others felt the same. It did impact my enjoyment.
I’m sorry to hear that! I often include background music in my vlogs or videos where I do a voice over, but maybe it was too loud this time around. I’ll try to be more cautious of that in the future 😊
Thomas Hardy lovers unite!!!Love him❤❤❤so much!! When I think of beautiful writing he is always at the top!! Trumpet-Major is not his best but I still enjoyed it
Yes, his writing is one of my all time favorites! I’m curious which Hardy’s are your favorites. Mine are Tess of the d’Urbervilles and Far From the Madding Crowd. I still own quite a few of his to explore 😊
You gotta find the old Food of the Gods film! It's so corny, you'll crack up. I mainly remember a gigantic chicken. 😂 When you said you have an iffy relationship with Trollope and that you were next reading The Belton Estate I was going nooooooo! 😅 I disliked that one immensely. I read Can You Forgive Her for Victober (very good but felt 200 pages too long) and I figured out my feelings about his work - his prose isn't beautiful, so if I'm not invested in the characters or plot it will be a miss. That being said,I highly recommend Miss MacKenzie! It is my only 5 star Trollope thus far. Her character and arc is so sweet, and the romance was decent. It was a nice, succinct story. Glad you had a good Victober!
Haha I need to find that movie! I’m sure it’s hilarious! Interesting that you didn’t enjoy The Belton Estate! I’d only heard rave reviews from everyone I know who has read it. I’ll have to try Miss Mackenzie at some point! It seems like you and I align often, so I’ll hold out hope that one of his books will work for me!
It was still great to read with you and Deea, even though the book was a bit of a dud. I think I settled on 3 stars in the end, since there were a lot of good quotes to take from it, but other than that, too much information on what Gaermans were like and not enough shenanigans!
I watch Nicole at Noteworthy fiction and she DNFed it because she said she was bored and it had some, I think, racism in it? She also loved the first and now I am wondering if I should skip the second book.
I think knowing that helps to temper the expectations going in. I was under the impression Man and Wife was more sensational, so I’m glad to know that before I read it 😊

That’s wonderful! Welcome to booktube! I subscribed!

Aw, thanks so much for your kind words ❤️

Also I love your hair!!!
Haha happy to help! And thank you 😊
I read Jekyll and Hyde too. It was a reread and I enjoyed it as much as the first time.
It’s such a great book!
Oh my that HG wells.😅 i might love it.
I’d love to hear your thoughts if you pick it up! It’s a really interesting idea.

@ My favorites are the same😂😂but I also loved desperate remedies and two on a tower as well as A changed man a collection of his short stories😊😊😊
@Angela-it2tb ooo, I haven’t read any of those yet!
All my feelings will be revealed later today on my October wrap 😁
Jerome k Jerome was definitely a 1 hit wonder. 😶
We read so many things together this month … I know your thoughts on so many things you read in October haha

I think you rated it the highest of the three of us 😂 I still loved hearing your voice every day for a week though!
I’m sorry you had some duds! You read so many different kinds of things though, I think it’s still a successful Victober for you!
I’d say it was pretty successful! I had two books that I really enjoyed and would totally reread, so I’m happy 😊
I watch Nicole at Noteworthy fiction and she DNFed it because she said she was bored and it had some, I think, racism in it? She also loved the first and now I am wondering if I should skip the second book.
Nicole made the right decision, DNFing it 😂 I kind of wish I had. I was bored the whole way through!
No Spurgeon? Victober thoughts with no CHS?😮😉jk
I didn’t even think to include that here! Probably because I was talking about it so in-depth on our live shows 😂
Poor Miss Finch sounds similar to Man and Wife. It's more domestic vs sensational/edge of your seat/mysterious.
I think knowing that helps to temper the expectations going in. I was under the impression Man and Wife was more sensational, so I’m glad to know that before I read it 😊
