😂 my journaling has fallen off the face of the planet 🤣 I’m still doing commonplace, and Instagram stories has 99%of my tracking of books read - Not DNFs - and storygraph I have stayed on point with. It’s beautiful (as always, but especially this year.)
I think some seasons work better than others for journaling. I used to do bullet journal spreads to use as a planner and I definitely don't have time for that anymore! This way I can still get my creative juices going, but it's not as much pressure lol.

I think I see my fave tombow used 757. 😊 Your journal is great and will capture a lot. I like all the vintage ephemera. I make a faux Excel datasheet to track my stats and it’s really close to yours. I like to see it all together. Anymore I just have my reading journal and my Bible study journal. I like to get creative and decorate them, so I’m still using my supplies. I just don’t have that much to say these days to keep a diary type journal. I posted about my journal if you wanna see it. Thank you for sharing. 😊
It's fun to have all the data in one place, isn't it? I love that you have several different types of journal. I just bought a regular journal to use for Bible study and just random diary-style thoughts. That's something I used to do all the time, but have gotten out of the habit of the past couple of years. I'll have to go check out your video!

So pretty! I watched Rebecca of Wilson Farm's journal the other day (she had some great ideas). She inspired me to get a reading journal. It's nothing like what you and she does. It's the Clever Fox one that Alana Estelle suggested. Rebecca made me think "what if GR or SG ever lost my data????😮" so i need to record that down but I'll be using the Clever Fox one... I might get "fancy" and or stickers but that's it. 😅

I kept a reading journal for the first time last year but it was a physical book. This year I’m trying a digital one that I’ve modified to suit my wishes. I purchased a cheap digital reading journal off Etsy, loaded it into GoodNotes and then just deleted the pages I wasn’t going to use. This destroyed the links but I don’t care about that. It had WAY too many pages for me 😊 I then supplemented with different pages that I purchased on Etsy (like a best book of the year hierarchy) and inserted them where I wanted them. I also created pages for each book club and each goal eg. Miss Marple, British Library Crime Classics. I had trouble keeping up with the physical journal because I put too much in it. The digital one is paired down. I’m also going to be recording (with colour) my daily yoga and knitting in this same journal. The colour wheel is supposed to be motivational 🤞🏻😂 I’ve been in a knitting slump that I hope to get out of.
Wow, your digital journal sounds great! It sounds like the perfect way to keep track of everything. Great idea deleting some pages. Some of those journals are overwhelming! I've done color wheels for habit tracking as well and it's really fun to see it all filled in!

In 2023, I tried to keep a reading journal and did several spreads to track format and ratings, fav book of the month, goals for the year, an unread shelf TBR, and a shelfie colored by rating. I didn't keep up with it very well, and ended up filling most of the info in at the end of the year. Last year I didn't use my reading journal at all. I'm But I want to try some simple spreads again this year. Last year at a certain point I stopped rating books on Goodreads, but it's been a bit of a headache looking back, so I'll probably start rating again. I like your idea of coloring the shelfie by genre!
Simple spreads are the way to go if you want to keep up with them! That’s where I started with journaling and have adjusted over the years as I figured out what spreads I would actually use and keep up with. It’s nice to have a physical record to look back on at the end of the year!
Speaking of physical records, someone in a book chat had mentioned that she always writes down a list of the book she reads every year just in case something ever happens to all her data on Goodreads, so I thought maybe I could print out all my years of reading on Goodreads instead of having to handwrite it. But after printing a couple years worth, I was annoyed to realize that it doesn't show your star ratings! It has the column for it, but the stars don't actually print. 🤦🏽♀️

@@beautifulminutiae They had pushed to Dec and are now saying Mar. Who knows? Stardew on the Switch has been a little glitchy in co-op mode…so maybe TotS are just trying to work all the bugs out. I’m betting the new Switch will be closer to the holiday season, but I could be wrong.

I didn’t watch the last Nintendo Direct…I’m just basing it on the fact they usually launched around the holidays (perfect pandemonium of being the “it” gift of the season). I’m not planning to buy one next year. Walter’s sister is more important to me. Lol

Digital journals are great, because the mistakes are way easier to fix 😂 I don't write in-depth thoughts in my book journal since I share reviews here, but I love seeing people write out all their thoughts!
I am planning to read The Haunted Bookshop, should I definitely read Pernassus on Wheels first, since my book is the sequel? Also, I vote yes on the video of the 2024 book journal!
